This place is in my opinion the best Italian restaurant in the Rochester area. I know , I know it can't be , with all the history of great Italian places around, but I have never had a bad dish here. Tim the owner is a great chef and Mama is an absolute treat! Â Call ahead and get reservations, it is well worth the wait! Â The chicken parm is the best in town! Â They now have gluten free!
Review Source:This is one of those places where the owners come out and make you feel like you are special... even when they are jam packed! Â We were there for New Years once and they even made a fuss of us and they were swamped! Â I was amazed. That was our first visit there and one of the reasons we wanted to go back... that and the FOOD! Â Oh my gosh not only was it so delicious but the portions are huge! Â I might even suggest sharing a plate they are so big! Â The first time we went with family- Us four with my parents and and my grandmother- so it was a large group and they kept right up with us... never slowing down. Â Every single one of us LOVED what we ordered. Â And finished the night off with their signature TWINKIES.... which were good, but I might suggest going somewhere else for dessert. Â It is basically a donut.... and that is all they have for dessert. Â
The other time we went were with another couple.  We were oooing and awing all over again when the food arrived this time.  I ordered the Gnocchi with the beans and greens over it.  You would never have known I ate ANY of it based on the amount I brought home!  It was enormous!  My husband ordered the  Sausage, Peppers and Onions over pasta and a meatball... and the meatball was massive!  The other couple was just as thrilled with their meal.  They tried the twinkies and were happier with it than we were over NYE....
The owners came out and chatted with us, joked around and made us feel very special. Â It was a fun time and we want to go back again! Â It is a great place...
Great food, family atmosphere, reasonably priced. Â My wife and I ate here for the first time based on a friends recommendation. The food was great and the portions were well sized. We had the Clam Pie appetizer pizza, which was larger than expected and yummy. Â We each had a slice and took the rest home for the next day. My main course was the Sausage and Shrimp Diablo. Â It contained much more sausage and shrimp than you would typically get. Â The sauce had a nice sweetness to it and the pasta was done perfectly. Â We will definitely eat there again.
Review Source:The first time I went here it was wonderful everything a small restaurant with inspired owner/chef should be. Â I went back during the Christmas Holiday season a half hour before closing, thought we could pick up something quick even for take out. Â Saw someone cleaning up must have decided to close early. Â As we walked to the door the person cleaning locked the door and walked away. Â We could have taken "sorry we closed early", but to just not say anything and walk away, I thought that was pretty rotten. Â Wrote to the restaurant never received a reply. Â So that is two strikes but for me it might as well been three.
Review Source:We were in Rochester for a work conference and someone suggested that we make the drive out to Victor to the Otto Tomatto for dinner. It was definitely well worth the drive.
The service was just awesome and the food portions and price were amazing. I had the Seafood Fra Diovolo and could not believe the amount of shrimp and scallops I got for only $15. My coworker got the Piccone Pie and that was to die for.
The chef and owner both came out to say hello during the meal and our waitress was incredibly friendly.
If we are ever back in the area - I will definitely stop by again.
We ate dinner at Otto Tomotto's Thursday for a birthday celebration. Â There were seven of us, including two children. Â We started with French onion and tomato soup. Â Both were delicious. Â I had the bolognese pasta. Â It had generous amounts of meat and cheese mixed with the pasta. Â We all were very pleased with our meals, even the hard to please children. Â There was a very gracious and attentive woman who checked on us during the meal and gave the women in our party beautiful artificial roses when we left. Â I'm wondering if she is the owner? Â We were very impressed with our meals and will definitely be back!
Review Source:Was there last evening. Â It's Fall and they are highlighting squash...butternut and spaghetti. Â I had a butternut squash risotto appetizer as my meal. Â It was delicious...creamy and the butternut squash on top was the best. Â I heard someone that had the flat iron steak special with the spaghetti squash (with brown sugar butter) say it was delicious. Â Funny thing though I could tell he didn't know what spaghetti squash was when he proceeded to cut a piece...and just eat the whole thing rather than scrape it and eat it like spaghetti. Â We love this restaurant, their story, and the fact that they give back to the community. Â The to go spaghetti dinner to benefit the Victor Farmington food cupboard is a popular fund raiser. Â Our whole family loves the eggplant parm. Â Other faves include the veal parm, lasagna, meatballs, french onion soup, apple poppyseed dressing, and twinkies.
Review Source:The best food in the area and we eat out a lot. Tim will cook your meal to perfection, making sure what you want is what you get. Generous portions, well prepared and absolutley delish! the resturant is small and intimate. Mama is sweet and makes you feel like you are in thier kitchen. Wait staff is friendly, especially Ericka. Love this place. Well worth the trip out, but make reservations. It gets crowded. Save room for the "TWinkie"
Review Source:Ok, so I really wanted to give this place 4 or 5 stars, but I just can't do it. The staff is nice, the location is convenient to those that live in Farmington, and I really like supporting local businesses (versus chain restaurants). Unfortunately, the food at Otto's is just very basic. The worst offender? The sauce is too damn sweet, and they absolutely smother everything with it! Seriously, I have never seen so much sauce on a lasagna or spaghetti dinner before!!
The good points: food is reasonably priced, their bread and garlic butter is awesome, and they do have some good lunch options.
I was extremely surprised that this place wasn't on yelp! It was so good, I just had to add it myself!
How did we hear about this place? Frankly, from a newspaper advertisement. A 3/4th Italian guy from our group said the menu looked good when we checked out their website and so we decided to make the trip!
First impression before you enter the restaurant, the area is sort of in the middle of nowhere but once you enter in, it's very charming and homey. We hadn't made a reservation for our party of 6 but they were able to accommodate us which was surprising considering that the place was quite full on a Saturday dinner.
The menu was extensive and had a great range of Italian fare, I decided on the Crab bianco. I thought the prices were very fare considering that the portions were very large. The food came out in a timely manner, Â and when we got started, none of us could finish our portions (including the 3 guys with us)! I've had my fair share of GOOD italian food (not that olive garden crap) and everything was very delicious and well made.
Just when we thought it couldn't be better, the hostess herself handed all the girls carnations to finish off the meal. It was so sweet!
The hostess "Mama" was so ... the epitome of an italian mother! We actually met her son too, the chef/owner of Ottos. Excellent!!
