Been here a few times for a quick drink. Â There is an outdoor patio behind the place which is nice, similar to Karma next door. Â Drinks are ok. Â What puts me off about the place is you get a bad vibe from the staff and patrons if you are not gay and acting openly gay. Â So its tough to have a good time in the place if you are straight.
Review Source:I've never given a one star review but unfortunately, it's most deserving. Â After hearing good things about the place from my gay hairdresser who knows I'm a foodie, and looking at the brunch menu on the website, we decided to give it a try.
I'm not gay - but I'm always up for trying something new. Â Also thought gay + brunch = awesome. Â Hmm, not quite.
Mom had a BLT, which was the best dish of the brunch, but it's hard to screw up a sandwich. Â Marble bread, greens and one slice of bacon. Â Yes, one.
Husband had smoked salmon on a store bought roll with cream cheese. Â It was edible, but nothing special.
Their potatoes were undercooked, bland and had no seasoning.
We were the only ones in the place eating, yet the food took forever to come.
The biggest issue was with my food. Â My eggs benedict was served on a raw, stone cold english muffin. Â No ham, no herbs, no garnish, no greenery at all. Â The eggs were awful looking. Â Mis-shapen, one severly over poached, with yolk as hard as a rock. Â The other was a bit closer, Â but still not good. Â However, the whites were completely ice cold. Â The sorry excuse for hollondaise sauce was a few tiny clumps of yellow goop. Â I'm not kidding - look at the photos!
I was completely speechless. Â I couldn't believe it. Â I didn't know what to do. Â I remarked to my husband that I was quite certain my dog, who has had no formal culinary training, could have made better eggs.
I called the waiter/bartender over and asked him about the lack of ham. Â He shrugged his shoulders and said he didn't know if Eggs Benedict comes with ham!? Â He went to the kitchen to ask the cook. Â He returned and said they have never served their Eggs Benedict with ham.
What makes that all the more humorous is the fact that their stock photo of Eggs Benedict which appears on their website, not only looks appetizing - but, wait for it...wait for it.....it has ham. Â Yes, actual HAM on the eggs benedict. Â Imagine that.
I have never sent a dish back because I couldn't eat it, but I this case I had too. Â I sent it a back and I ordered something that I thought shouldn't be too difficult - 2 eggs scrambled, toast, potatoes.
I again waited forever, but what came back wasn't much better. Â Same bland undercooked potatoes, and eggs that had been overcooked so long, they were like dark, unappealing curds. Â It was supposed to come with toast, which never arrived. The server remarked that there is a new cook. Â If that's true.- they need to keep looking.
It also happened to be drag bingo, which is fine and funny, but I could have done with out all the f-bombs that were dropped. Â It felt like an extension of the Saturday night crowd just carrying over to the following day.
To his credit, the bartender/server comped my meals, without me having to ask.
I don't say this to be mean, but I could have found a better breakfast at any truck stop, Denny's or Waffle House. Â
This is NOT a place for quality food. Â They should just stick to being a gay bar, and skip the food. Â And if you want a great Sunday brunch in Poughkeepsie, head up the street just 2 blocks to Brasserie 292. Â They have a sublime eggs benedict - and guess what.....it comes with ham! Shocking, I know.
I went last night for the first time since I heard this place opened up. It's a very classy place, not like most of the gay dive bars in the area. It's a great little place and the staff is friendly. The music is good and the dance floor is a decent size, I just wish more people would dance! Our community definitely needs to come out and support this place because it's a great place for us to go!
