This is THE original Outback Steak & Oyster Bar. The couple that started this restaurant sold the rights to the name "Outback Steakhouse" and the concept to the now national chain, but that's where the similarities end. This is one of our favorite places to eat in Branson. The decor is cool Outback shabby chic with the remains of a Bush plane suspended from the ceiling in the main dining area. The alligator bites are a favorite appetizer, and the Bush Bucket is a good option for steamer pot fans. Parking can be a little tricky, esp f they are busy.

We are visiting Branson for a week and decided to try this the first night because of all the coupon cards we received at various places.

Wished we hadn't.  Outback....the other eating places in Branson can thank you for NOT getting our business for the remainder of the week.  Because of this bad experience, we decided to eat in the condo for the rest of our stay.  We work too hard to waste money on places like the Outback Steakhouse....which is not the chain restaurant you might know.

In the atmosphere of being in the Outback, there are no bread plates.  It was not fun to deal with these odd tasting buttery rolls and no plate.  Once you start eating, you can't stop.

The prime rib was awful and we told our server about it.  He didn't seem to care.  I had the coconut shrimp and it was either cooked in old oil or was cooked at too high of a temperature.  Again, just so so stuff.

And if you order a loaded baked potato, there's a $1.99 upcharge that was not communicated by the wait staff but on the final ticket..

Find another place to experience.  The gamble will be worth it.

Not the best Prime Rib you'll ever eat, but one of the best in Branson.  Everything else is decent or better.

We were looking for a place to go for our anniversary that had steaks & seafood with a nice atmosphere.  So of course I looked here on Yelp, and we decided to try it, we rolled into the parking lot and it looked very familiar, we dicovered we had eaten here in late 1998, (it was good then) and we were not disappointed this time either.

The outside had a nice deck for dining with a firepit & the inside was decorated with old airplanes hanging from the ceiling and an outback feel, it was nice.

We had the Steak & Lobster Sunday night special, (if you look in the discount books you will find coupons) and the steak was wonderful an 8 oz. filet, although the lobster was only a 6 oz. tail it was grilled and a little over cooked.
You get a choice of 2 sides so we got a salad and a baked potato, both good.
Also you get plently of rolls, we did share a dessert, it was fair but not what we expected. It was the Chocolate Cake with choclate filling inside, which we were told was to be warmed so the inside was melted, I don't think they warmed it long enough.
The reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is because on the over cooked lobster & the dessert.

A big disappointment.  Food was way overpriced and then below average in quality when we got it.  Not over exaggerating when I say they probably pulled two day old Mac N Cheese and chicken nuggets out of the fridge and threw it in the microwave before serving it to my kids.  Fries had to be several hours old....Lowest price entre was a $16 burger so be prepared for $25/person and up.  We won't be back.

I was brought here through a Groupon deal.

This place had options for me even though I'm on a restricted diet. Food was cooked well, even though it wasn't something that was out-of-this-world.

Service was really speedy and friendly. There was great live music playing in the back which made it lively. Family came here during 4th of July holiday, so we got to witness some awesome front-seat views of fireworks.

Everything is top notch at Outback, including the service. I'm impressed by the service alone at each visit. I really get the feeling that they wouldnt put up with anything less than excellent!.Bush bucket is a great seafood experiece with right flavor.Oysters are good as well.

Not a family friendly place. Menu is very limited and doesn't even have the usual basics. No children appropriate food and they don't allow substitutions, half the people in my group decided to not order and go to a different restaurant! The environment seems fun but the lackluster service puts a damper on that. Prices are way too high for the quality.  My recommendation is to skip it. Lots better places to spend your money.

This place isn't part of the Outback chain of restaurants. It is independant.
Our server was Sergio and he was a real pro: attentive, thorough, respectful (staff who treat you like their ole buddy get on my nerves).
We started w/ fried mozzarella sticks; they were a far better quality than I have been used to. They were soft & melty with long strings that drag out when you take a bite - like they're supposed to! Not like most mozzarella sticks, which tend to turn into a rubber eraser when they cool slightly. The marinara with them was pretty generic.
We also had one of those fried whole onions called 'blossoms' in other places - tho' I can't remember their name for it - also good.
Salads were fresh and crisp with EXCELLENT bleu cheese dressing, which was almost as thick as sour cream. It was probably made from sour cream and bleu cheese... simple, pure, flavorful! The rolls were outstanding; I ask you, what's not to love about fried bread?

I do not remember the name of my entree, but it was shrimp, fresh garlic, fresh parmesan, parsley and butter tossed w/ "angel hair" pasta (it was really only very thin spaghetti) - It was labeled as "NEW" on the menu. The shrimp were quite large, MUCH bigger than those wee pinkies served at Red Lobster, and there were a dozen of them. There was so much food that most of my entree went home w/ me plus 2 fried rolls. I had it for lunch today, and THAT was almost too much food!
If I could alter the dish in any way, it would only be to add some fresh tomatoes to the saute. However, it was very very good, I'd order it again, and at $16, it was appropriately priced.
I also tasted the fried catfish (rolled in cornmeal) served w/ a roasted red pepper sauce and fresh cilantro. The fillet was huge, crusty outside, while delicate, moist & flaky inside. I can recommend it, as well as the shrimp dish.

Oh, they have a good beer selection too. Try the Negra Modelo, a dark Mexican beer. Someone else ordered a couple - I tasted and wished that I had!

I ate dinner at the Outback at 5:00 on a Friday night.   I normally stop by here after a day on the lake, so I am mildly ashamed of eating with the older Branson crew during the early bird special. But, the food is reliable and you get served quickly.

I usually get the pecan chicken salad, which is served in a pineapple with a plateful of fresh fruit.  It is cold and delicious and a great meal to eat on their patio...but in the middle of November, I was craving something warm and heavy.

For my main course, I ordered the gator tail and the vegetable of the day--which was a 'green bean medley' of wax beans, green beans, and carrots.  Too bad the veggies were super bland-no butter, no lemon, no spice blend....barely even any flavor of the veggies themselves, but it was a nice break from my gator tail. All these other reviews about the Outback being out of gator is probably because they piled it all on my plate. I had plenty.

The rolls are delicious--fried without tasting or smelling like old grease.  They are light and tasty and hard to pass up. I also ordered the seafood chowder, which I am suspicious is canned or pre-made, heavy with potatoes with some salad shrimp thrown in. Despite my snobbiness, the chowder is glorious. I dipped my bread AND gator tail in it, and scraped the sides of the bowl with my spoon. Definitely worth the extra $.50.

One of the most awkward things about my meal is they had a singer or band playing and did not turn down the piped in music.  It made for an obnoxious sensory overload, like I was trying to enjoy a nice dinner in the middle of a casino.

Used to be a favorite spot while in Branson especially for the Alligator....well, they're still out of Alligator and the food was so-so.  Also stayed at their "motel".  Let's say....I'm OUT on the Outback from here on OUT.  Service was good, but I'd hate to be a server who has to come up with excuse after excuse as to why the gator is gone and has been all summer.  Better call Swamp People.

It's tough to find any good restaurants in Branson and this is no exception. Food is way overpriced. Got some white sauce pasta dish and the sauce was watered down. Not very good.

Used to love it, now I have to kill it.  Outback has been a destination for us for several years when we go to Branson.  What sold us on the place originally was the great oysters and the alligator tail.  Plus, the service was great!  On my recent visit, I am ready to hand up the towel on this place.  We were seated at a wobbly table.  I asked the server for some assistance and she said the the leg of the table was on an uneven surface.  I face-palmed.  we stuck 4 or 5 Splenda packets under the leg and solved that problem.  I ordered alligator tail for an appetizer as this was the main reason for deciding to come to the restaurant.  The server said they had been out since Father's Day and didn't know when they'd be getting any more since so many other restaurants were now selling alligator.  (face-palm)  So, I had the 8 oz. top sirloin with a veggie medley.  The steak was a little overcooked and had no flavor.  The veggies were actually white and green beans in the pods.  And three small carrots.  Also, flavorless.  At one point, the server dropped a Coke on the table and soaked us with the creeping spillage off of the uneven table.  We paid (forgot our danged coupons!) and started to leave.  Some timeshare sales guy at the front door asked us where we were from and then made a disparaging joke.  Funny stuff.  Won't be back.  It's sad, really.

    Pros=parking was decent
Cons=service, food, wait times for food (45 minutes for entrees)

It's not country cookin' at it's finest. There weren't any aging performers giving me 2fer passes.  And the knew what a black and tan was.  I liked it a lot.

This place is pretty good with their happy hour oysters.. 99 cents a piece from 5-7. What is really cool about this place is it is a few doors down from Charlie's, an amazing steak joint that has happy hour from 4-6. So I can cover a good happy-hour from 4-7 at both places :P

The atmosphere is really cool here. They have a seperate Pub building that I actually spend most of my time at. It has a cool Jaeger pool table and the usual bar games. Walk out the back door, and you are now on the outside patio. Those are always good when in Branson/At Tablerock lake. Who doesn't want a Rum~N~Coke while listening to live music....

Well... The music isn't that great.. But good people, awesome bartenders, and good food!

I had the alligator tail and stuffed mushrooms as a meal, and washed them down with an Aussie Rita.  DE-LISH!  The alligator was tender and came with some sort of spicy jelly, and the stuffed mushrooms had a ton of cheese and BACON!

It was so good, I bit the inside of my mouth while eating.  Need I say more?

Came here purposely for Oysters and it turned out that their oysters were not fresh. I have tried their oysters on half shell, Oysters Kilpatrick, Oysters Outback, Captain Jack Oysters, and alligator tail. Oysters were not fresh, none of the backed/steamed oysters tasted good. The only acceptable dish was the alligator tail. We ordered crème Brule as dessert but it was disappointing as well. Will definitely not coming back for food or especially oysters.

Not bad for Branson.  Oysters were good.  Beef kabobs were tasty.  The lamb was good but way over priced.

I usually spend after Christmas in a cabin in Branson with a few friends, regardless of what we decide on we always end up here. One of my good friends used to be the head chef there James Jeffries, so the food was all too familiar, and quite good of course he would go all out when we were there and "dammit i didn't mind". Its not the restaurant itself it more the feel of  the area in Branson in the winter that makes this very cozy. The waiters are very chaty but cool always like to talk to out- of towners great service.

My husband and I usually try and stop here on our vacations. We like the atmosphere and enjoy the food. Do not mistake this for part of the Outback Steakhouse chain - it is not! You will find a very different Aussie flavor here, although it is just as good! On this trip, my husband had an oyster appetizer and the chicken. I had the fried alligator and our 4 yr old son had the childs shrimp. Everything was very good - I especially liked the rolls. They are fried, but these weren't greasy at all - they were just right!

EXCELLENT restaurant! By far the best food I've eaten in a long time! Good atmosphere, full bar if you're interested, and very friendly staff! The prices were fair for the amount of food you receive. I highly recommend this place!

By far the restaurant that SHOULD have had the name all over the nation!  Excellent steaks and chops, and the rolls were great too!

So this is NOT the Outback Steakhouse you're thinking of.  No affiliation at all, and in many ways, that's a good thing.  They predate the Outback you're thinking of and that is why they are able to have that name and also why you won't find that OTHER Outback in Branson.

Like a funky little Aussie oasis on the 76 strip you will find the Outback Steak & Oyster Bar complex.  There's a motel and a full-fledged bar here as well.  It's set back off the road and soon you will see the weeping willow tree, the grassy green hill, the pond, the fake crocodile and jeep and that's how you'll know you've found the right place.

The space has a psuedo 70's throwback sense about it, but it's very cute and casual, with soaring wooden cielings and scads of Aussie paraphenalia, including a small glider plane hanging at one end to the restaurant.  At the center is their open grill where you can see the steaks, chicken and seafood you are about to eat being expertly cooked up by the staff.

As you are seated a big bucket of rolls are placed at your table.  But these are not just simple dinner rolls, they have a beignet quality about them.  That's because they fry the damn things.  I would be pissed off at them if they weren't so damned addictive.  The dining partner in crime and I hoarded a bucket to ourselves, guiltily spying the rest of the family, growling and hissing when they go too close.

There were 6 of there that night and honestly I don't remember what everybody ate.  I had a ribeye.  The 12oz as opposed to the full 16 oz.  It was cooked well and tasted great.  It came with a mongo-sized loaded baked potato and I had a salad to start.  My salad was a little wimpy and wilted which came from the fact that they premake salads by the gazillion and stack them in a reach in refrigerator until their chosen time.

Dad had the oyster sampler.  He seemed pleased with his choice, and while I didn't sample any of his dish, the Oysters Rockefeller seemed to me to be over breaded.  The Dining Partner in crime had grilled chicken which he said was great.  Service was very nice and everyone seemed to have a great time.

What I really liked about THIS Outback was the place itself.  It really is transformative and unlike any place else we encountered in Branson. I wouldn't hesitate to visit again the next time we are in the area.
