Freakin Awesome!!!!
Best fries and a lot of them...Gyros are kick ass and the taco's rock. Grilled onions on your burger or order the Galaxy and enjoy! Everything at this place is just awesome and I've loved it for 20+ years. Late night till 2am on the weekends...and the prices are very fair. Don't forget to get a real milkshake! Love this place.
I try to get in and out without any students spotting me. Â Luckily, the drive-thru really helps in this endeavor. Â As risky as it may be, the butter garlic fries are worth it. Â
Everything is delicious and completely super sized. Â The gyros are over stuffed with delicious meat, tomatoes, onions and tzatziki sauce. Â It is def enough to share. Â If you upgrade to the butter garlic fries, which I highly recommend, they come in container about the size of my head. Â I am always tempted, but I never really can finish them. Â
The staff is super friendly and everything is really clean. Â If you are in the area, it is a great place to grab fast food.
OMFG!! I was on a road trip from RI to CA and decided to stop in IL for the night. I was starving and took to YELP for assistance. I had there #1 Gyros. The meat overflowing everywhere. IT WAS LIKE A PARADE OF DELICIOUSNESS IN MY MOUTH AT 1:15AM. It'll make you wanna slap everyone in a 100ft radius. IT'S THAT GOOD!
Review Source:I've been to many places and tried gyros from all over. Some good. Some bad. I've also read reviews from many places I been to stating certain places to have the "best" gyros. Many of those places were good, but not the "best". If you want the "BEST" gyros in the Chicagoland area, Panos is the place to go to. Their gyros are simply perfect. The pita is unlike any I've ever tried and I always order an extra pita to make two sandwiches (plenty of meat on the gyros to add on an extra pita). I don't know what they do with their pitas to make them so tasty but it's one of the main reasons why it makes their gyros the BEST. Sadly I live so far away from them now but still try and make the trip at least twice a year to get my gyros fix. Everything else on the menu is really good also. I love their burgers and managed to stuff one in last time I was their along with my gyros. Like someone else mentioned, when they burned down a few years ago I panicked wondering where could I ever find gyros half this good again. But they rebuilt it and it is better than ever. Long live Panos Big Boy!!
Review Source:This place, my friends, serves up the BEST gyros you will EVER eat! Â I hadn't been to Pano's for at least 7 years, when I would come here frequently with a work buddy after a "grueling" day in the bag room at Woodmar Country Club (....stupid Cabela's). Â Walking into Pano's, I was immediately overcome with a nostalgic feel. Â It is the EXACT same place I remember coming to--minus the guy with the moustache who sliced the gyro meat off of the spit in mesmerizing fashion. Â These gyro's are EXACTLY what I want when I crave a gyro. Â Overflowing with meat, heavy on the sauce, a few tomato slices, all piled high on hot pita bread. Â If you think you've ever had good gyro, give Pano's a try--see if your expectations are lifted.
Also, I'd strongly encourage you to indulge and order a cup of cheese with your fries. Â The fries are not that great alone, but become a cheesy masterpiece with this stuff. Â Just trust me.
I'll never forget the "Sex and The City" episode when Miranda was attending Weight Watchers to lose the post-Brady weight and caved in and had Krispy Kreme and said "Hmm, you see! This is just WORTH being fat for!"
Well, I have one of those moments every time I sink my mouth into once of Pano's delectable quarter pounders. One of my best girlfriends introduced me to this place when I was in high school and I've been a fan ever since.
This place is classic, American grease fare just done RIGHT.
Clean facilities. Friendly staff (I don't go here THAT often but the lady who works the cashier in the evenings ALWAYS remembers my order; a #4 with everything and cheese, with a pink lemonade!). Decent parking. Quick service. Fresh food.
Their fries remind of In-n-Out (the famed California hamburger chain). Small, thin. But crispy, salted potato perfection. Their daily soups are also usually very delish. SOFT SERVE ice cream (the perfect dessert after a helping of all their savory dishes).
Pano's...you're a diamond in the rough that is Calumet City.
May you never give another scare as the time you did when you burned down and gave no signs of rebuilding a few years back. You came back stronger than ever, and I hope future generations get to enjoy you for years to come!
As I've gone through the post-high school years, many aspects of my earlier life have gone by the wayside. Panos, more so than any other inanimate object, has maintained its place in my heart. I doubt there's been a weekend home from college when I haven't stopped by Panos for some gyros, a strawberry shake and a pizza puff.
Like everyone else has said, it's incredibly greasy, yet even more incredibly tasty. I've never met a single person who's had Panos and doesn't love it.
Oh, hell yeah!
This place is located just a hop, skip, and a jump from my old high school. Â Looking back, there's no mystery as to how I managed to gain 30 lbs during my senior year. Â
But oh, what fun it was packing on those pounds. Â To this day, I've never found fries quite so perfect or quite so grease-soaked. Â
I don't get back to good ol' Cal Sh*tty anymore, and when I do, I don't make it a priority to get over to Pano's, but I keep promising my husband that we'll stop in some day for the greasiest, most delicious fast food he'll ever consume.
Hands down the best Gyro you'll ever have. Seriously. Sure it's drenched in enough grease to cause you to go into cardiac arrest before you take your last bite, but it couldn't be more worth it.
A gyro, cheese fries, and a pop will cost you around 5 bucks - you can't go wrong. I may even go as far as to say that growing up on Pano's Big Boys was a highlight of my childhood that only got better as I approached legal drinking age.
I basically cried when I heard Pano's burned down a while back, but when I see how they rebuilt it, along with a drive-thru!! I basically rejoiced.
Even though I no longer eat meat (the steak sandwich will miss me), this is still one of the first places I stop when I come home. I have too many memories of showing up here at 2 a.m. along with 20 other post-party goers, discussing how we managed to not get arrested over a milk shake, French fries, and of course 'cup o' cheese.'
Though I can no longer go there knowing the regrets I'll have attempting to eat the entire lamb they put on their gyro's, I still go back for the grilled cheese, the memories, and the joy of watching prostitutes getting arrested across the street.
Well, if you eat meat, and you enjoy gyros, Pano's is a must!!! I've been going there for many years. Not to sound happy that the original building burned down, because I'm not happy that happened but they are even better now with the new building than they were before. The inside is really nice, and they finally have a washroom now. Their other food is good, but it's a Gyros place so if you love Gyros I suggest you go there to try them. They are the best Gyros I've ever tasted still. They are delicious! Plus they have a really affordable meal that includes a Gyros, Fries, and a drink.
