I have a theory that explains why this particular White Castle makes the best sliders: Â it's the presence of the nearby refineries that adds to the flavor! Â Seriously, the sulphur in the air seems to complement that released by the onions as they cook, and it all comes together in the careful hands of the longtime staff who operate this WC. Â I cannot oveemphasize the importance of carefully constructing a slider; you don't just slop it all together as some WC employees elsewhere in Chicagoland do. Â No, you have to maintain the integrity of the pickle, bun, burger and onions as you pat them into place in their box. Â You want to make something good? Â Then take the time to do it right like these folks do!
Now, if I could just figure out a way to sneak some garlic salt into their salt shakers for the next batch they cook - HEAVEN!
