Went here Saturday with another couple. Totally unimpressed with the food.  I asked if they could make shrimp parm, which was not on the menu, and they said 'sure.' What I got was small fried shrimp with mozzarella melted over it.  They presentation was like what I would expect from a take out order that I dropped before I got home.  Not only that, it was tasteless.  Made a bad choice and had to apologize to the others.  Can't recommend this place.

Our first time at this restaurant. Disappointed by their service and the prices are ridiculous. Ordered lunch special salad which we later found out that it was $27. R u Kidding me!!!!
The waiter did not know anything about the food. We ordered the soup and it had bacon. Which we don't eat for religious purposes. But the waiter did not knew it was there. We were totally disgusted after eating that soup.
Will not go there again and won't  recommend it to a friend.

This past Sunday, Papazzio was crowded, and without a reservation my husband and I were told we could sit at a high table near the bar. A choice I would never willing make, but considering that we were hungry, we perched ourselves on the high stools and got a whole new perspective on this fabulous restaurant! We saw things happening that we'd never seen from our previous dining room experiences. We saw that as the waitstaff returned the menus, the owner was wiping them down, outside and in! For that, I give Papazzio an "A+" rating above the NYC Department of Health's "A." We also witnessed patrons leaving and thanking the owner for a great meal.  I even saw one slip him some money in a handshake as he exited. He in turn gave it to the bartender and signaled him to put it in the tip jar. What a nice guy!! And, just because were were seated near the bar, doesn't mean we were overlooked. Our waiter, who has only been there for 6 weeks, was excellent. He had great personality and skill. He timed the ordering of our food so that we were served and eating at a comfortable pace. We will look for him the next time we go there, and we might even request a table near the bar!  And, oh, yes, the food is by far the best Italian fare in Queens.

My husband and I have been going to Papazzio for a couple of years now, and the quality of food is always excellent and they have never disappointed us. We are both food snobs and know good food. We both feel that this place is one of the best Italian restaurants in Queens.
The ambiance is very cozy with exposed brick and dim lighting. There is a bar at the entrance with a nice selection of cocktails. On some nights they have jazz or a blues band.
The restaurant is family owned and the owner is usually there to greet the patrons, you can feel that they really care about the restaurant and their presentation.
Nice place for a date in my opinion. If your looking for great gourmet Italian food, reasonable prices and cozy ambiance, this place is for you.

I'm given Papazzio 3 stars for the following;  friendly waiter, excellent jazz music and warm ambiance.  the food although well prepared is typical not much different than all the others have gone to; the portions are large so be sure to go there hungry; the wine is reasonably priced.  nice place for a Thursday night dinner with friends or that special someone.

our favorite neighborhood restaurant is now gluten free! we love coming to papazzio. we're treated like family every time we go. over the years we've celebrated many family events, and they have always been accommodating with our daughter's gluten free requests. tonight, when we arrived, we were thrilled to see the new gluten free menu. most of the offerings are gluten free. owner Dominic let us know how well trained they are to safely prepare an assortment of meals without risk of cross contamination. my daughter loved the pasta dish. it is so great to have the peace of mind of knowing she can enjoy the same delicious meal the rest of us have been enjoying for years! if you are gluten free, you will be in for a treat. GF or not, the food at papazzios is always 5 stars.

This has been my family's go-to Italian spot in the Queens/Nassau area for the past 15 years. We've dined here so many times it's impossible to count, but trust me when I say we've had MANY casual dinners here, as well as special occasions such as my sister's communion, numerous birthdays (still to this day my sister requests Papazzio's for her birthday dinner spot), and holidays.

The reasons we like it here are simple: the food is excellent, the service is great, the ambiance is just right, and all aspects have remained consistent over the years. Recently they have added valet parking, which is really convenient.

Simply put, Papazzio's is the best this town has to offer in terms of Italian food. My family has been coming here for years and will continue to do so. Lastly, Dominic (the owner) makes himself very accessible and visible, and is just a genuinely nice person who really cares about his customers.

Still a bayside gem.   Going there for over 18 years still top notch.  Owner and staff are wonderful .  Pasta nite is terrific.

Well, I don't know how to feel about this place. I've been here a number of times, and the most recent time I was there, the service was exceptionally frustrating. It was busy on a Friday night, and at one point during the evening, all twelve tables were full. Left to manage, serve, clean up after, and set all twelve tables were two waiters. No bus boy, no runners, no nada. Now I understand this was not at all the fault of the waiters, because they were both working as hard as they could, but our food came out very late, the orders were mixed up, and we sat in front of our empty plates for a good twenty minutes once our meal was over. I could have cleared the table and washed the dishes myself in the same amount of time. Not only this, but the food tasted burnt, and my companion's food was served cold. I was generally very underwhelmed by my experience here. Again, it was no fault of the wait staff, but come on management..hiring a bus boy would service you well.

The food was wonderful. My wife and I enjoyed our pasta dished immensely. Compliments to the chef. Our waitress, Erica was so attentive. We didn't have to ask for anything. She was super!!

Walking down Bell Blvd on Saturday night,I heard great Jazz music. I realized it was coming out of Papazzio's. Inside we went to eat and listen to the music. The dinner was spectacular. Service amazing. I enjoyed listening to a band, that reminded me of something you would see in a movie. It was a pleasure to sit there on a beautiful night, with great company ,delicious wine and music. Dominick the owner is very sweet and I enjoyed chatting with him. If you are in the neighborhood, please make a stop for dinner. You won't be disappointed..

Of the few times I have been to Bayside, I have had great meals.  This Saturday was no different.  Based upon my father-in-law's co-worker's recommendation, we ventured 10 miles to the east to check out Papazzio.

    First Plus - valet parking.
Second Plus - delicious white bean and olive oil dip with bread

Off to a great start... could they keep it up?

A special entre catches my ear... rack of lamb with gorgonzola (and a few other things which were muffled out by my stomach after hearing lamb and gorg in the same sentence).  You figure with these ingredients, you are going to have a solid meal.... however, it was even better than expected.  If I was rating the restaurant on this dish alone, it would be 5 stars.

Some other observations: we were with a big group and tried a few salads and mushroom rissotto which were all very good and nice portion size.  Tried my wife's eggplant parm, and it was good, not great.  Drinks were a little light on the pour.  Waiter was a little too attentative (yes that is possible, its called stage-5 clinger, hat tip: Pauly D).  Brownie dessert was pretty solid.  Nice ambience.  Glass window to see into kitchen.  Wine cellar room for private parties.  Live music on Saturday night.  Super-nice maitre d, who is possible the owner, not sure.

Will definitely be going back again.

The food was tasty...you know, after we eventually got it.  I went here when it was not incredibly busy and waited over an hour for my main entree.  I had a chicken dish, which should not take more than 20 minutes tops.  The place is small so even when it's busy it should not be that backed up in the kitchen.  I ate so much bread waiting that by the time I got by food, I wasn't hungry anymore.  I took it home to go.  The chicken dish I had (i forget the name) tasted quite well the next day when I ate it.

I used to like this place...until earlier today. This is a good place to go to if you're on a diet because the portions were about as tiny as they come. The bean soup I ordered was...well...I don't know what to call it because it had no beans in it. I ordered a mozzarella/tomato appetizer in place of the so-called soup and while it was ok, the mozzarella slices were razor thin. My linguine and clam sauce dish was about one quarter of the size of the ones I typically get in other Italian restaurants. Papazzio has cut back on lot of items. If you're hungry, I suggest you go elsewhere.

Bottom line, no more Papazzio for us... They can't even cook a medium well steak, basic calamari and bland salmon dish which you can get for a cheaper price but I like the south beach fizz cocktail though... That's why I give it 2 stars...

Really good service and good italian food! Not the best, but its still very tasty and i love the cozy atmosphere. I had the chicken marsala, which was pretty good! a little bit oily but thats ok. My bf had a pasta dish with sundried tomatoes and a light sauce, which he said was delicious. Also the bread they give you at the beginning with the garlic oil, is soo goood! Would definitely come back.

I've been here a few times with family and friends.

Love the ambiance and it is quiet! The service is friendly as well.

I came here recently for Tuesday Pasta Night... My friend and I got glasses of Prosecco and calamari to start. The calamari was crispy and very flavorful. She ordered the sweet potato gnocchi with sage cream sauce and I ordered this angel hair pasta dish with chicken in a tomato cream sauce. Yum! My friend's dish was way too sweet and heavy. She didn't even finish half of it. Loved mine though!

Oh and how could I forget the delicious garlic olive oil sauce that comes with the bread for the table? Yum! So much better than butter or just olive oil and herbs.

Overpriced Italian food for mediocre service.  Would much rather spend my hard earned money somewhere else.

This place used to be good but for some reason it has gone down hill the past year or so. We used to go all the time but have since stopped going because the menu is kind of stale and the food started to taste bland and not fresh. I'm not sure what happened but I suspect they changed chefs because the menu is virtually the same. The one saving grace is the service; they really seem like genuinely good people there. That's the only reason I gave 3 stars instead of 2.
Three quick suggestions for ownership: change up the menu a little, serve smaller less saturated dishes, and bring prices down a bit (its a lil overpriced for the area).

Just left the resto 2 hours ago and I can barely remember how the food was. The portion sizes were decent, the food was good, and the service was fine but I probably wouldn't go back if I was looking for a spot to satisfy my craving for Italian.

Was looking for a cozy spot to have dinner with my sister.  On the plus side, the service was excellent and the staff was very attentive.  (Only two other tables occupied before we arrived.)  It was cozy and the drinks were nice and strong (at Manhattan prices).  They were willing to adjust the menu to our vegetarian preference.  Food came very fairly quickly (probably because vegetarian dishes) .  Dishes (cheese ravioli and penne vodka) were just okay - nothing to make us run back again.

We were very surprised to find two "open plate" charges on the bill.  My sister dipped her fork for one piece of penne and I stole half a ravioli from her plate.  That's it.  We didn't switch platters or scoop from one dish to another.  Plus there was no warning of additional charge for sharing in the menu, if that can even qualify as sharing.  I think that's ridiculous and for that alone I would rather go elsewhere.

Had the most delightful little early dinner with 2 of my darling friends at this spot. it was a random rainy afternoon. We arrived a little after 4 on a weekday. I believe it was Wednesday.

Now this review may be slightly biased because we received special treatment. When we came there were NO other tables occupied. Not even one! So we were waited on, hand a foot.

When we arrived at the door there was a very handsome young gentleman (I'm typing in the funniest french butler accent. This place was kind of fancy. I hope you guys are reading this how I hope you are.) standing there as if he was the door man. We waited, and he opened the door (later we found out he was no doorman. Just a cutie chilling under the sign to avoid getting wet in the rain. lol) We were greeted pleasantly and seated instantly (better be. there was NO ONE there).

Everyone said hello to us. The guy at the bar. The waiters in the back that noticed us sitting there, glancing around wondering why the place was empty. As I looked around, I took it all in. A cute little bar, well stocked (no liquor was consumed during this dinner. Not a single one of us was of age at the time). Very clean place kind of small, but still it had a lot of tables and wasn't nastily cramped. Maybe when people are in there it looks crowded...I wouldn't know though.

The menus are huge and by huge I mean in size it's a really big menu. The three of us could not comfortably all look at our menu at one time. lol We kinda laid at two and I just glanced over and looked at theirs to find what I wanted. The bread was DELICIOUS and I didn't want to get the menu up in my butter and what not.

Appetizers here and literally small meals. After reading that line you may have said, "Aren't appetizers usually small meals!?" and to that I say yes, BUT they were all fancy and cool like we were in some high end culinary school kitchen. It was awesome. I didn't get an appe (bc i had yet another date planned and didn't want to be huge by time I got to the kid). Both of my friends ordered some shrimp thingy. The shrimp were HUGE. There was about 4 of them. And some odd looking toast. It had cheese and sauce. It was phenomenal. Can't recall the name of it...but if you see the menu get whatever appe they have with shrimp and cheese.

For dinner I got the chicken parm. Can never go wrong with chicken parm but you can go EXTREMELY ABOVE AND BEYOND! It was Delicious. The chicken and the perfect crisp and was still tender and hit and the pasta was the perfect texture; not too hard and not too soft. Perfect. The melted cheese on tip was in a thick blanket and then I threw some mozzarella on top (*kisses fingers like an Italian) Tre Magnific! it was wonderful and the plate was ginormous. I couldn't even eat half of it! Of course my mind was telling my tummy to be full because she wanted to make sure I looked skinny and cute for later, so I probably could have finished that if I had planned better.

My meal was $20 something. The appes were $14 a piece I believe. The waiters were pleasant and kept bringing out water in these pretty glass bottles. (they were probably being extra nice bc we were the only ones in there).

It was a lovely evening and I've been meaning to go back but haven't yet. I def need to get something in the works. This place is a lovely little local spot and you'll feel like you're in some five star heaven.

Nice cozy restaurant. Started with the calamari and shrimp croquette, which was one of the appetizer specials that night. It was alright, I think i was expecting more.

For entrees, we had linguine pescatore fra diavalo and the pasta special for the night (shrimp, scallop, rigatone in a pink wine sauce). Both dishes were very good, sauces were done well, and pasta al dente. Only complaint would be that the shrimp seemed to be a touch overcooked, as it was a little tough. They were fresh though. For dessert we had the Tartufo, which was very good as well.

Service was excellent, our waiter came over regularly to check on us (note that it was a thur nite, and was relatively quiet). Always filled our water when we were running low and was overall attentive.

Overall I liked it and would return. The prices are reasonable too, and you dont get a huge portion (say at like, Cafe Baci). They have $10 pasta specials on Sun and Tue. And $5 drinks and select appetizers on Wed and Fri eve(at the bar only).

My boyfriend and I had dinner at Papazzio Saturday night.  I have dined at the restaurant before but my boyfriend hasn't.  My dining experience wasn't good this time.  The restaurant was very inviting and the entertainment very nice.  Our waiter service experience was not good.  I felt our waiter was all over the place and he may have visited our table only twice throughout our dinner service.  My reason in visiting the restaurant was for the bbq skirt steak.  The first time I had it, it was a special but the chef was nice enough to make it anyway.  That was good.  This time the dish wasn't so great.  We were very disappointed.  Not sure if I would go back.

They have a great lunch menu too.

This restaurant SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! During the span of the 2 hour long meal (way too slow and long), I heard over 3 tables complain.

My table had 8 people. The food took an hour to serve. To top it off, they forgot someone's entree. Are you kidding me? We just took the order out, didn't want to wait another hour. This was a really terrible experience.

This restaurant shows how poor its run. Slow kitchen. Bad management.

Coming from the south shore of Long Island, I appreciate the treasure trove of neighborhood-type restaurants in this area of Queens -  this one is a gem - the staff and ambience are welcoming, the service gracious and attentive, and the dishes we selected  were delicious - I can still taste the chicken rollatini with roasted peppers, basil and tomato.  We will be back!

Of all the restaurants we passed, we decided to have lunch here and was not disappointed. A lovely cozy spot. Our waiter was very attentive. Oh and the food. We ordered rigatoni gorgannia  and the chicken papazzio which was so good we wished we ordered them as dinners to have gotten more. Can't wait to come back and try another dish.
