Great place to stop on the way back from the coast.  Good prices, friendly bartender.  Nice patio in the back.

Cozy, low-ceilinged little hobbit hole of a pub. Wonderful furniture and bric-a-brac. Excellent pool tables. Everything you need.

The Papermill Creek Saloon is a painting reminiscent of the impressionist era, by Mott, a great painter who haunts many of the energy vortexes of Marin. Blending colors together in great swirls amassing around bright lights it is not unlike the style of Van Gogh's starry night, borders between objects blur and then all things become one. The bar is located in the In the beautiful San Geronimo Valley where many travelers have known many paths,  Samuel Taylor state park is just down the road, and the coho salmon know the waters that run through hallowed red woods, and rolling bluffs. Truly a beautiful area surrounds the Papermill Creek Saloon, and an understood setting for a Mott painting. Just like the painting, I've heard the inside of the bar is also impressionist, and holds; great bartenders, friendly people and an internet jukebox.  It just proves that once in a while you can find a great bar in great art, or great art in a great bar, if you look at it right.

Woody, Veronica, and Masha...you are the best.
My friend and I stopped in here after a valiant battle with a tent. We lost. We needed beer. Marsha, the bartender and part owner and her brother Woody, another owner, were there to cheerfully guide us to a "Big 5" and another awesome campground in Guerneville. The next morning, I ran in to Woody at the local deli/grocery store/wierd kid toy store and not only did he remember me but struck up a conversation with me and gave me his sisters number-which I proptly lost...
Thanks again guys! We'll see you next year!

This place got me so excited, I spilled my margarita!

After a hearty hike, my friend and I stopped at this establishment perfectly located about mid-way back to civilization.  He liked his beer, I liked my marg, but these were fairly inconsequential when assessed alongside weightier matters such as:

    - the abounding character-laden decor, including: kewl retro clock, dusty house piano, extremely distressed trumpet hanging on rafter, wood-burning oven for chilly rainy evenings, photos of 50s stars...k, pretty proud I remembered that much but there is so much more!

    - the absolutely chill clientele. 4pm on a Saturday and the bar is 2/3 full with 50-something locals watching dirt biking, shooting the breeze, and just smiling.

    - the great staff: the bartendress was distraught and immediately took care of the tequila-pool in front of me. And big bonus with me: they immediately accepted my Facebook friend request! I'm a cheap date, I know.

    - *POOL* tables. There was no need to partake yesterday, but if I go back at night, I'll be surprised if I don't dive (pardon the pun) in.

    Wants to go back!

I 1st visited here years ago when we were camping nearby. The place literally beckoned us from the road & a fabulous evening was spent here. I've since told people about this little gem & since a friend is living nearby in Nicasio, we decided to finally make a return visit. I was a bit nervous, since I'd really talked this place up to my friend, that perhaps it was one of those mysterious cases in which the memory is fonder than reality. Well - thankfully this was not the case. We spent another fabulous night here this weekend & since I now have a friend living nearby - I have a reason to venture out there for more evenings well spent. The jukebox has an eclectic mix which added a unique soundtrack to the evening as well. Cash only - so come prepared.

We live in Oakland and love to go on weekend drives, rooting out funky little places off the beaten path. It's one of the best things about living in the Bay Area -- our back yard is filled with treasures, waiting to be discovered. Papermill Creek Saloon is a true gem.  It's the sort of place that, from the moment you see it, you know you'll feel at home. There's no shortage of interesting quirky stuff to check out inside, and all the people were so friendly. The hour we spent relaxing there at dusk felt like a mini-vacation. Top-notch. We're definitely going back!

I had the pleasure of living within a mile of this place for a few short months, and I'm so glad I did.

Maria and Jared are awesome and very friendly bartenders, the drinks are well priced, stiff, and tasty. The juke box is internet based so you can find almost any song you can think of, and here is the best kept secret. They have the best conditioned pool tables in all of marin. Almost brings a tear to my eye.

    Enjoy!

Driving back from Point Reyes ... girls got thirsty - and we stopped here for a drink (yeah I was drinking coke!) Great jukebox too. And the bartender even had chili dogs for sale ... so the gals ordered those.

    Definitely want to come back.

The place looks so appealing from the outside that I had to stop in on a ride back to SF last night.  Inside is beautifully rustic with a tiny outdoor patio, two pool tables, and J-shaped bar. OK, five stars is a bit premature but you can just tell this place rocks. Gonna go back on a Fri or Sat night to verify.  With a bit of a crowd this is probably a pretty fun place.

The Lodge as we call it, has been a musical home for we musicians. I don't drink, so I never go in unless I'm playing. I've had the pleasure of playing there scrillions of times, and I love it every time. The crowd is peppered with musicians and others with "big ears" and eclectic tastes. Right along with the need for old-fashioned blues. I like the bar for the funky atmosphere it's wonderful patrons. I can enjoy myself here.

Ok, so it'a dive-but a GREAT one. The building itself is over a century old. You can see the legendary bullet hole that any local will be happy to tell you the tale of and drink some suds out on the deck overlooking the Papermill Creek. There are pool tables, a pinball machine, jukebox and ATM. Local flavor makes this place what it is.....Come and check it out. There is even live music occasionally.

If you are or were a regular (like I was), you really love this little oasis of alcohol in the middle of San Geronimo Valley.  Don't be intimidated or take it for granted... the regulars are friendly, the prices reasonable, and the atmosphere is classic dive bar... except you're not in the city.
