So...I managed to ruin the dinner I was making for me and kid #2. Â The wife and kid #1 were both sick and out of the picture so I took kid #2 out to dinner instead of trying to pull together "plan b." Â I had been interested in this place since I heard they opened for business. Â
I ordered the "tiki tacos" as an appetizer. Â Delicious flavor and tender pork with a mango salsa served on a lettuce cup. Â I thought they were quite good and the 10 year old even liked them. Â I had a sandwich called the "sea artist" for dinner and the kid ordered a kid burger. Â I had a bite of hers and it was perfectly acceptable. Â Mine was a bit more than "perfectly acceptable" and I enjoyed it thoroughly! Â The chicken was well seasoned and the flavors unique. Â The only downside was that they went a bit too heavy on the onions and I wound up picking at it before eating. Â Mine came with sweet potato fries served with a dipping sauce, aka cinnamon-sugar butter, which was a bit over the top and went untouched beyond a taste to for the sake of novelty. Â The bill was only $25 so I would call the place very reasonable.
It is important for anyone contemplating a visit to this restaurant to understand that it is co-located with Soccer World and all of the booths have windows that look out on the field such that you have a steady parade of people walking in front of your table in addition to a game going on the field - not an optimal situation if you are looking for a nice, quiet, intimate dinner. Â Fortunately, my kids have played indoor soccer there for years so it was not an issue for us.
Second issue - lots of their menu looks like it is intended to be eaten by hand but all three things that hit our table fell apart. Â They may want to rethink that format a bit or find a better way to put their stuff together so that it doesn't crumble so easily.
