Donnie's has done an excellent job reinventing the former Pizza Machine space, with a cool space, good food, and a lot of options for even the pickiest eater. We went with the family Saturday night and really enjoyed our experience.
Pros:
- Great craft beer list. ~8 beers on draft, a bunch more in bottles, organized simply by "heavy, medium, and lighter." They've done a good job getting some beers that aren't easy to find in Springfield.
- Many vegetarian options, including pizzas, sandwiches, and wraps. I was happy to see this as there's a dearth of good options in town.
- The deep dish pizzas are ridiculous. They're huge. Don't get a gigantic one - you won't be able to eat it.
- I liked the variety in the pizzas. From a couple veggie options, to a kraut/sausage pizza, to a mexican pizza. Cool stuff.
- Hummus and chips come with all the sandwiches. I love hummus, so this is a pro. Another option would be nice though. Salad?
Cons:
- The service wasn't stellar. She was quite obviously very, very new, and tried, but it wasn't top notch. I won't dock them a star for it, as the rest was great, but more training is absolutely necessary.
