I have come to Springfield once or twice a year for a decade and only recently found Head West thanks to a cab driver. Â I am a vegan so finding (anything in Springfield) a good sub without just standard veggies piled on is hard. Â I was expecting that when I went here, but was thrilled to see veggie options such as ham and turkey. Â Now, I don't crave meat looking items or names, but these offered some different taste and texture to a good sandwich.
I imagine it is tough keeping vegan cheese and veganase in stock at any place in Springfield, but it would be great if they tried. Â Most meat eaters would have no clue if they tried it and I could have everything on a very good sandwich. Â If they would carry these two items I would give them a solid 5 stars. Â Regardless, I am going back every time I am in town.
I love Head West overall. I can't go to this location any more. The sandwich construction is soooo sloppy the sandwiches are un-eatable. I've tried everything; from very-sloppy chicken salad to shouldn't-be-sloppy turkey to really-it's-just-spread-on hummus, and everything ends up on the wrapper and not neatly stacked in the sandwich. Even the proportions are off, and I thought those were sort of standardized between shops.
I miss the pair that used to work here. I would come for lunch twice a week, and now I haven't been in 2 months.
