If you're allergic to hipsters, this is probably not the place for you. Interesting old building smelled like an old building - the unique combination of cat pee and mildew. The only break from this smell was the creepy, barely locking bathroom that obnoxiously smelled of chlorine. They have a unique beer selection, but are out of almost everything it seemed like. ("We need to update our menu. We don't have ____ anymore") I don't know if it's "cool" or "ironic", but every glass lampshade in the place had at least one broken panel. Once you got past all this, it wasn't too bad. Beers a little on the pricey side for what I'd expect from Springfield, but they had skiball! In a bar! 50 cents a game! Can go up to a 4 player game! Made my night.
Review Source:One of the great dive bars I've been to. It seems to have all of the original exterior and interior bones of the building, which in Springfield you know it's old, like from Lincoln's days. Thus it makes it feel a bit historic.
They have a great selection of micro beers but most are in bottles not in draft. The draft beers are the big names like Miller Lite, Bud, Guinness, etc... They also serve a mixed blue drink called "Fred". It's blue and comes with ice in a pitcher. I did not order or taste one but it was popular with most people there. The nice waitress told me the ingredients are a secrete; she wouldn't even tell me what spirit was in it. Oh well, I don't like mixed drinks anyway.
Popcorn is free, I don't know if they sell food, and the service is great. I forgot our waitress' name but I remember she said she was originally from Riverside CA. She was really nice and put up with our drunken asses; I would like to say "thank you" to her.
I will be back for sure!!
