I was visiting family in the area and landed on Patron after looking up reviews. The atmosphere had me quite hopeful - a more upscale environment, nice bar, etc. The margaritas were outstanding as were the toasty-tasting chips and fresh salsa. Everything went downhill from there. My cheese enchiladas looked great - covered in a velvety blanket of white cheese sauce rather than the usual orange cheese grease. Unfortunately, the sauce was one-dimensional and warm-ish vs. hot with enchiladas beneath barely warm and cheese inside not melted. All of it over-salted.
Accompanying beans and rice tasted great but again, not heated.
My dining companion ordered the same enchiladas with the pork topping (as per the menu - I'm a vegetarian so skipped the pork). The pork looked so good it almost gave me a pang of veggie remorse...that is until my friend said it was completely inedible due to over-salting. She said the pork was perfectly cooked but doused in so much salt that she truly could not tolerate it.
The waiter nicely offered to bring something else but we were running late for a movie and had already plowed on the chips and a few bites of the tepid-in-every-way entrees.
The bill brought one last unpleasant surprise that vegetarians know and hate: charging the same for the enchiladas sans pork as for the ones with. The waiter corrected it - points again for him but....
Weird experience. Young people (hostess, bus boy and waitresses) have no idea what they are donig when:
a. I forgot my glasses so I couldn't read the menu. So I just wanted two tacos, rice and beans. Baffled them. They couldn't comprehend that I didn't want the # whatever off the menu.
b. I wanted my food to go. It was rang up by two different people. Bus Boy was running around the restaurant with my food trying to find who it went to. Took it to two actual tables trying to pawn it off. They couldn't take cash. (?) Who can't take cash? Here's the best part.....they had no plastic to-go silverware. They just didn't know why I would want any. I took a set of their stainless. I'll bring it back tomorrow.
Food.....meh. So-so.
We went here for lunch. Â Food and service was very good. Â We weren't sure what to expect since we are from out of town and wasn't sure what Mexican food would be like in AR. Â We were not disappointed. Â They asked us if we wanted to carry out our drinks (Tea/lemonade). Â Love that type of "outside the 9 dots" service. Â We would definitely come again.
Review Source:Patron's is seemingly as popular for its drinks as its food. I can only speak for the food (though everyone can see the monstrous things they bring the booze out in), and it's great! The Molcajete is delicious, though it seems to vary in spiciness from visit to visit so be forewarned if you don't like spicy food. The fajitas are also very generous. If there's any down side to the restaurant, it might be their service. The restaurant gets very busy around peak time, and they often don't seem to have enough servers on hand to handle everything promptly. They bring out your food quickly but if you need anything be sure to ask your server when he's there, otherwise you never know when he's going to pop up again!
Review Source:Nice atmosphere. A little slow when I went in. Promptly took our drink orders and provided chips and salsa which were very good, the salsa especially. I also ordered their house cheese dip and it turned out to be good but ordinary and not very well seasoned.
After a while the entrées came I had the fajita enchiladas. The meat was tasty and but the cheese enchiladas were uneventful. Rice and beans good but not special.
My girlfriend ordered the spinach enchiladas and enjoyed them quite a bit.
Overall: fast and mostly friendly service, nice atmosphere, great salsa, ok entrées. Will most likely go back and try something different.
So we stopped at this place which was right off the Highway during a road trio from MD to TX.
I had low expectations because
(1) We were in Arkansas and everything surrounding us up until that point was run down and weird.
(2) We had no idea of how many hispanic people actually live in AK (LOL).
Being Hispanic myself, I was so happy with the fact that this was a great place! The food was authentic and tasted delicious. Prices were average.
The service was really good. Overall a very clean place and also very beautifully decortated.
The music was also great!!!!
Loved it! :)
