Stopped here for a quick meal. Service was prompt and the waitress was wonderful. Â The rib special was served with 3 sides and a fresh hot loaf of bread was brought to the table. Â Mile high pies were sitting on the counter, sure wish I hadn't been so full. Â Prices were great and we had a great meal.
Review Source:Stopped here because it was right off the highway and it wasn't McDonalds. We must have walked in right after a huge rush because every table was dirty, although the place was empty (it was also 30 minutes before closing so that might have been part of it too). The sign said seat yourself but we couldn't find a clean spot. Finally the waiter grabbed some extra chairs and made us a table. Initial impression: not good.
The menu had several signature BBQ options but for some reason we all ordered cheeseburgers. I hate when sandwiches don't come with sides, so that was another negative, but we opted to split a side order of fries.
The burgers came and were dressed wrong so he had to take them back. The side of fries didn't look like it would be enough for both of us, but it was actually plenty because they were thick-cut (almost like steak fries). The burgers were decent sized and chargrilled, and way better than the McD alternative. I was happy and full.
The craziest part of this whole experience was that the waiter ended up being so apologetic and exhausted from the previous rush that he comped our entire bill!! That was 4 burgers and drinks, on the house. He was extremely sorry about the initial impression, slow start to service, and burger mix-up, so he more than made up for it. We were shocked and impressed!
I would recommend this to anyone in the area. Apparently they are pretty popular and busy, judging by the messes left behind when we got there!
We didn't know what to expect considering the area. Â It's in a convenient location just west off hwy 55 on the Hayti exit. Â It's obvious the restaurant used to be a Dairy Queen so the place isn't much to look at but the food was very good. Â We went there for a family birthday party with a group of around 20.
The menu provides a lot of great options. Â I had the bbq pork steak (dry-rubbed) which was huge and cooked perfectly. Â There was PLENTY for two meals which is always a huge plus. Â My sides were corn on the cob and fries both respectable. Â My wife had the bbq half chicken with fried okra and corn on the cob. Â Her only complaint was wishing there were more bbq sauce options. Â The chicken was cooked great. Â My father-in-law had the bbq half chicken as well, loved it, but his only complaint were the mashed potatoes. Â He feels it was obvious they were instant. Â
They have MASSIVE cakes on the counter, unfortunately we brought a birthday cake for my wife's grandpa so we didn't have any but it looked amazing. Â
While the restaurant is small (again an old Dairy Queen) they only had one waitress and definitely needed another so the service was somewhat slow. Â But I'll attribute that to having a party of 20, probably very unusual, although we had a reservation.
Had a one man band with a keyboard. Â He was good, not to loud, and played good music
All and all, we were all very pleased with our meals. Â The food was hot, prepared and cooked correctly. Â I didn't hear any major complaints and with a party of 20 that's very rare. Â
We will definitely go back to Patty's.
