Service is the problem. Our waitress had an attitude that would've made Godzilla proud. She had the obligatory bad waitress glare when you asked for something and took forever to come around, disappearing for 20 min at a time. Â We ordered 50 of their below average wings, they finally came and she drops the plate with all the blue cheese and celery...splat all over the floor. Â She headed to the back and never did come out. Â The slippery and dangerous mess was there for 1/2 hr before a guy came and cleaned it up. Â At this point we wanted to report her, only to find there was no manager around or so we were told. Pitiful service especially for the prices they charge. There are too many good places to waste time here.
Review Source:Basic bar fare. Not too expensive. Great for a warm spring day to hang out with friends for a long lunch in the sun. I had the Turkey Melt, which was deli turkey with melted cheese and Russian dressing and thier waffle fries. I also had a pretty nice Yeungling, which was on tap, but sadly it was poured into a smallish (8oz) plastic cup... I felt a little like I was at a lunchtime kegger.
The sandwich was good, tasty and filling, the fries were fried, but not TOO oily and the beer was good despite the low class conveyance. The sun, however... THAT was nice.
I was tempted to give Peabody's 4 or 5 stars, but thought it might mess with my Yelp cred. I really do love it though...as a restaurant. I'll start there. The bar and I, well, we have an interesting relationship.
I first had food from Peabody's a few summers ago when my friend and housemate at the time (still friend, housemate no longer) worked at Ben and Jerry's and came home from work in her lovely tie dye to find us all drinking in the kitchen. She had a styrofoam box in her hand and asked us if we wanted to snack on the rest of her dinner. Drunk people often say yes to such an offer and so we nibbled on these delicious little chicken tenders (not fried), maybe chicken skewers they were called then. When we asked where this delicious food was from, she said Peabody's and we were shocked.
I returned to Peabody's to eat over 2 years after this little surprise. I think the bar scene there always overshadowed the fact that it is also a restaurant. Last fall, we initiated Wing Night. Well, my friends Bob and Dahlia initiated Wing Night, but after I joined, I somehow became director.... Don't ask, we are weird. Anyway, the first time I went to Wing Night I discovered that at each table, there is a TV, and in each TV, there is a DVD player. I also discovered that the BBQ wings rule and are a lot better than the hot wings. Since then, every 3 weeks, we go to BYODVD Wing Night at Peabody's. It's great. Our hands get dirty and we make other patrons jealous while we watch Jurassic Park and they pretend they are amused by their basketball game. Also, we have some vegetarians in our Wing Night crew who have introduced me to the fried delights Peabody's has to offer. I have never liked onion rings, so I am a bad judge of those, but their sweet potato fries are damn good.
Peabody's as a bar is.... well, hmm, I'll tell you when I remember.
