Maybe someone can explain to me how a restaurant in Maine can serve a steamed lobster barely warm and a side of steamers (clams for you land lubbers) a little colder than the beer that I ordered. Probably because it sat waiting for the server to deliver it to our table. When I told her the lobster was only warm she was not very interested. What a shame.

The onion rings were, however, somewhat warmer and pretty good!

This place sort of confuses me. I stand by my original review, but I'm confused. This place is situated at the end of the Pier, however, there is an area before you enter the actual club, which is divine. You must show ID to get past security, but once you do, it's an open air area, with a bar along one side and tables set up along the other, with a small stage. I went up there during the day one afternoon, and we ordered some drinks and sat in the sun. There was an incredibly entertaining guy playing a keyboard, who announced that it was "All Request Wednesday". He had little binders on the tables that listed all the songs he played. We threw some ones in his jar, and requested a couple of songs, which he gladly played for us. It was a very pleasant afternoon, sitting in the sun, drinking the "Pier Punch". We returned a couple of nights later, for "Ladies Night", which meant myself and my brother's girl didn't have to pay the $5 cover to get in. It was a very different vibe, but still fun. Lots of very hooker-ish looking girls passing test tube and Jello shots (which were yummy), and I mean hooker-ish in the nicest possible way - hey, they need to make money, right? There was an odd spacey jam type band on the small stage, with some older ladies (like 50s) trying to get down on the dance floor. It was pretty awkward to watch, but entertaining.

Anyway, I just wanted to update this review to say that the outer portion of the Pier Patio Pub is fabulous, lots of fun. I'd still skip the club though, it is really lame in there.

I don't know why this place doesn't have better reviews, I mean for what it is (a dive bar pub on a tourist pier) it's great. You should not come here expecting a high class experience, excellent food or 5 star decor... it's OOB folks and it's full of tourists so of course the prices are going to be high!

Unlike many of the reviews we had a great time here, and enjoyed some beers while sitting outside enjoying the ocean breeze & view. The staff was incredibly friendly & fast and the prices were totally reasonable in my opinion ($4-$5 beers and $7-$9 mixed drinks). The place wasn't too crowded so we easily found a nice table and it was really cool to see the waves crashing down below.

What you are paying for is the location, and it's totally worth it and a must stop if you are in OOB.

85$. that is what it cost to feed the fish. we ordered a scallop clam combo plate which cost 20$. there was 5 clams and 5 scallops. literally. my boyfriend ordered a LARGE lobster roll, and it was a barely stuffed hotdog bun. the potato salad was undercooked. and our "margaritas" were just sour mix. really. JUST sour mix. the outside deck was cramped and i felt claustrophobic sitting at the table. the only good thing was feeding the fish all the leftover crap fried food.

over all...dont eat here. GIANT waist of money. i would rather go hungry.

This place is boring and pricey. The food isn't that great and the staff is unhelpful.

A fun place to hang out for a few drinks over the raging ocean. Also a good spot to watch the town's Thursday night fireworks in the summer.

I forget the name of the place on the pier but there is a spot which sells deep-fried Snickers, deep-fried Twinkies, deep-fried Oreos, and deep-fried Smores which are my favorites.

If but one word could be used to express the essence of the Pier Patio Pub, it would be "mediocrity."  With all the charm of a local dive but with far worse service, you'll walk away from your experience here with an ironic feeling of emptiness, despite the fact that your stomach is full of cafeteria-quality food.

When you enter this second-rate dump, you will have to seat yourself in a plastic lawn chair, so be sure to tell a waitress where you will be sitting, or else you will not be served.  If and when a waitress comes to your table, cherish your time with her...you won't be seeing her again for quite some time.

When it comes time to order your drinks, you'll undoubtedly be famished, having been seated for thirty minutes or so already.  So heed my advice and order your food as well.  Don't worry about rushing to make your choice, everything tastes like it comes out of the same microwave anyway.

When you decide to hang out at the Pier Patio Pub in the evening make sure you have these things in place first.

    1. A good medical insurance policy
    2. Plenty of bail money
    3. Three or four very large friends for backup.
    4. A groin cup. (even for the ladies)
    5. A french Canadian speaking friend to translate.

With all of those things in place your ready for a adventure at the PPP.

The Good:  On a sunny afternoon the Pier is perfect to enjoy a bucket or so of Coronas with friends on the outside deck over the ocean.  Most of the waitstaff is very fast and personable. At night catch Yo Adrian if he's in town and enjoy the view of the lit up strip as the hush of the waves mingles with the faraway excited voices on the carnival rides.

The Bad: The Lobster Roll is large, cheap and filled with awful minced meat.  Don't bother.  Have a burger or better yet eat somewhere else.  I had a Buffalo Chicken Wrap here once and it was cringe worthy.

The Ugly:  As Ed S. points out security is a trifle overdone here.  I've never seen any fights on the Pier and maybe this is why.  The area is literally flooded with yellow shirted security and a handful of uniformed officers. There is a staff problem at the Pier and the manager needs to trim the surly out of the security and some of the waitstaff. I've seen several situations get overblown due to the attitude of the employee that resulted in the eviction of the customer.  Someone in charge needs to start monitoring those conversations...it's just bad for business.  Makes people want to go elsewhere.

This place is sort of a joke.

It's "the" local place to be during the summer.

Completely crazy and crowded, your foot sticks to the floor as you make your way past the numerous cops and security people while looking for the totally gross bathrooms that have never been cleaned in your lifetime.
The main dance floor/area is kinda cool, in that it has this elevated stage/ring thing going on which is all right to dance in.  But the number of no-necked losers and trashy broads that adorn the place make this bar/club a total joke.  It's almost worth going to see the losers who frequent the joint.

I think this place would be ok if you only went there for cocktails but the food was seriously lacking.  They don't grill the buns on the lobster rolls and my dad's hamburger was burned.

The staff here sucks. Thats the main reason I gave it 3 stars. The waitress ignored us and a bartender did the same the day before. And the place wasnt even busy. I can only imagine how I would die of thirst if that place was half full. The best of this joint would be the view from the wrap around deck. The best ocean view around. They had beer specials but the signs were too confusing. haha. We had a great time upstairs during a wet t shirt contest. Which happens every thursday nite. The Bartenders were a tad friendlier upstairs also. Its a must see. But I got sick of it after our third visit.
