Pilot's Lounge and Bistro. Â Home of the worst, most unprofessional, rude, ill mannered management in the whole entire world. It takes a lot to offend a group of happy Salseros, but they managed. A bunch of us traveled for hours to go and support our Salsa cousins in Charleston. Fayetteville, Myrtle Beach, Charlotte, and who knows where else was represented on 16 Nov 2012 and we were treated like garbage by the owners and staff of this business.
From having half full drinks removed from our tables while we were dancing, to being quoted different prices for sodas to being told that the lounge was going to close a whole hour early despite the fact that a large group of us drove two to three hours to get there (just to name a few of the issues), we were shown repeatedly that our patronage was not appreciated. The most wretched part of the evening was when the male owner yelled (seriously?!?!) Â at Gabriel in front of the customers.
Oui Dance will find an even better venue to host their Salsa events and we will be right there dancing! We will also make sure that everyone knows how horrible the service is at this place. Disgusting. I am glad we made it out for Oui Dance's LAST event at this place. They will definitely miss the business that Shanelle, Calvin and Gabriel brought to their establishment. Feel free to contact me with any questions.
Sincerely,
A Horrified Salsera

What a wonderful dining experience! Â After seeing a groupon deal, I decided to try this restaurant. Â The groupon allowed up to six people to share two appetizers and choose a steak dinner. Â Prior to purchasing the groupon, I decided to check out yelp. Â Reading the available reviews, I was almost convinced to skip this offer. Â I am SO glad I went ahead and gave Pilot's Lounge & Bistro a chance.
The atmosphere and decor were relaxed and attractive. Â The menu was descriptive and offered a nice selection. Â
The waitress was fantastic; she was very upfront with how the groupon would work, what would and would not be included, and the available substitutions. Â She made sure to always be available but was not hovering, allowing our table to really enjoy our dining experience. Â None of the six diners experienced an empty glass, and the alcoholic beverages she made were pretty delicious (although we would have imbibed a little more had the building been a little cooler).
The portion sizes were more than ample. Â The food was absolutely delicious, and six finicky people had nothing negative to say about it (which is a first!). Â If you are not a fan of peppery steak though, you could ask them to season with a light hand. Â The coffee was great and really capped off the excellent meal.
This place has a lot of potential. Love the set up and the atmosphere they are going for. Food portions and tastes were great....but there's not much on the menu and the coffee and mixed drinks could be better. I hope they make it through the economy...you can tell they are new because the building seemed unfinished and it was quiet...but I love they have a nice bar area with an area for a band and an area for dinner. I think if they can pull through the economy and upgrade the menu and finish the look they want, they will eventually be the place to go!
