Pistol Pete's has been around a long while and was serving up craft beer, and a good selection of it, long before most bars even bothered to carry Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. There is always a wide assortment of beers from a diverse selection of brewers. You can occasionally find Pliny on tap, and they always have Auburn Alehouse beers available. They have great happy hours and specials, and all the best beers are part of the deals. The place is really a sports bar, and has a big section of pool tables. Bands play here regularly, and it is the destination for college kids returning home at Thanksgiving. The service is always very friendly, and while most of the food is essentially microwave snacks, they are cheap.
Review Source:So it was the night before my first five mile climb in the desolation wilderness when my friend says, let's go get drinks at Pitol Pete's. Had I even been thinking about it, I probably could have put together what type of place the was just from the name. This is a hick bar! But really what do you expect for Auburn? That being said. Pistol Pete's turned out to be a drunken good time! I ordered a shot of patron and for $8 received a rocks glass filled to the brim! The beer selection was cool enough to make me try some beers and believe me, that's saying a lot, since I'm not really a beer drinker. There are pool tables and........... Yikes karaoke! Actually even that was pretty fun. The crowd here is a relatively even blend of tree hugging hippies and shit kicking cowboys and they all seem to be coexisting in perfect harmony! If you want a break from the cookie cutter L.A. scene knock offs that every bar nowadays seems to be going for, Pistol Pete's might just be right up your alley!
Review Source:Most importantly, Pete and his Dad are awesome. That and the consistent selection of good beer on tap are enough to keep me dropping by from time to time. Seems that everyone knows about the place and it's been around forever. The place is huge and offers a few video games, pool tables, an outside smoking area and lots of free parking. They also recently started the option of basic fried food and pizza "pub grub". I'm not a fan of the Karaoke scene so opt for other local watering holes on those nights but it seems to always draw a diverse crowd. Some nights it's like teeny bopper heaven and other nights it's the good ol biker boys or sports nuts. You never know who or what to expect when you drop in there. They always charge a cover for their live music and admittedly, I find the acoustics in the place to be horrible. Nothing more disappointing than paying to hear something you can't truly enjoy, but hey, if you're just there to dance and shout - you won't be disappointed and if you drink enough, you just won't care either.
Review Source:How can I review a place that has karaoke more than 2 nights per week?
Friends and I stumbled here "Let's go to the liquor store! We're out of wine!" It's raining. We walk four blocks "Where are we going?" and indeed, the liquor store is next door.
But the bar is open. And on the way, we had gathered another friend.
Oh, and the bar, on Monday, is having Karaoke night.
Dear god. Help us all.
I happen to be a karaoke Jedi. "There is no try, there is only do."
So guess who ended up taking shots and singing most of the night?
To our credit, we rocked Journey, Tom Jones, Pat Benatar, and Bon Jovi.
Rockin' spot. Thank you Auburn for providing Pistol Pete's.
And to Pete's: You were waaaaay more fun than the liquor store!
Walked home, crashed out on couch, and nursed a well-earned hangover the next morning.
I love love love going to Pete's Tuesday thru Thursday because they have karaoke! Â The system is awesome, with 2 screens. Â They also just put in a pizza place... which allows you to order pizza til 2am.
There's nothing better than having a few drinks, singing a few songs & eating a few slices of pizza with close friends.
Hilights of their staff are Joyce (Bartender) & Rick (Karaoke jockey). Â Both are super nice, and sometimes you catch a glimpse of Pete walking thru with a huge smile.
I was in town for a wedding and was told to stop by with the wedding party. Â We had a good time. Â They have plenty of pool tables and the place has alot of room so you don't feel like you are up on someone the whole time. Â The booze prices were reasonable. Â They charged a cover but there was a band playing so it was reasonable. Â Good place to get a beer in auburn.
Review Source:Pistol Pete's is a decent option for night-time fun. I was in this weekend and it wasn't stupid-crowded. The drink specials were good (and by all reports, frequent) and the visiting band was actually highly entertaining.
the pool tables were all Bogart-ed by sharks, but the darts seemed to have some good openings for epic one-on-one action.
now i said that it wasn't all that crowded, but this place could really stand to be more heavily frequented. I think i would come here more often if i found myself in the area.
not a good place to man-hunt.
Favorite bar in town. Lots of beers on tap and top shelf liquors. They added on a fenced in section out front so now you can take your beer and smoke. Pete has a good number of pool tables and a pretty cool boxing game so instead hitting somebody for all those guys who think they're tough, they can beat it out on the boxing game. Pete is really cool and he doesn't take shit from anybody.
