While the menu looks amazing, our food didn't meet our expectations. My beer burger, marked as one of their specialty items, was well well done. I sent it back yet got another well well done burger. The special seasoned fries were cold and barely seasoned. My husband's fish taco was literally just one taco with a tiny bit of fish and a whole lot of cabbage. There was just a small amount of chipotle dressing. For our appetizer, we had a dragon roll which was the special of the evening. The rice seemed different than any type of rice we have had for a sushi roll before; however, we were pleased with the flavors for a non sushi restaurant. Service was decent. Craft beer menu was decent. The kitchen must have been having issues because we were warned that our food would take around 45 minutes because they were really backed up. As for the atmosphere, we found the other patrons to be quite rude. Our table was bumped several times with no apology. ( partially due to the restaurant cramming in too many tables. They even set up a small table behind our table so my husband couldn't even get out from the table properly.) Â We were also close to the video poker/slots section. Â
I just don't understand the atmosphere - loud, live music that we had to yell over, older clientele (mostly 50s and 60s at 8pm), video slots, upscale menu, craft beer, sports memorabilia. Â A huge mish mash of every identity crammed into one small place. Â
The server did comp my burger. Â We won't be back regardless.
Owner. Steve, overreacted when I complained about well done strip steak that was ordered medium rare. Â I sent it back. Â When it came back it was a small piece of meat, without any utensils, he lost it saying (I am cleaning up the language) he didn't need my business. Â Another customer verified my complaint and I was, basically, asked to leave. Â I tipped the bartender and left without further incident.. Â This incident was the worst experience I've ever had in a restaurant.
Review Source:My wife had heard good things about this place a while back, so we checked it out, enjoyed it, and kept going back. We pop in there a couple times a month for food.
It would be easy to dismiss this place as "just another bar", but that would be missing what we truly enjoy here. Â I've been surprised to see reviews about spotty service - I've actually found that the servers take a team approach, with multiple servers jumping in to help refill drinks, clear plates, etc... Â
My favorite is the Buffalo Chicken wrap, but check out the specials too, as I've had some good one hit wonders along the way. Â It is a nice break from the chain restaurants that are all too common in the area.
First and last time. Was told by the waitress that the fish fry had 3 large pieces of cod, fries and cole slaw for $12.95. Plate was placed in front of me with 2 SMALL pieces of cod, handfull of fries and a SMALL cup (not really a cup, little plactic container) of slaw. When the bill came the fish cost $14, the total bill  for a fish fry, 2 ODouls was $22. I left and went down the street to  the Dairy Queen for a burger. This is Roscoe IL NOT downtown Chicago. The couple that sat next to me ordered two beers, it was $6. Needless to say they didn't stay for a second beer. When I pay that price I want to walk out full and happy. You've been warned! Guess I don't have the $$$ some other reviewers have, I have to work for mine.
Review Source:I have been in this establishment twice now. Â The first time was to meet some friends for some apps and drinks later in the evening on my recent birthday. Â We received prompt service, the food was good, the service was attentive. Â The owner came over and bought me a shot, which is always nice. Â Others have mentioned the pricing, but its not an issue to me. Â There are more reasonable options close by if you need them, but I like having an upscale spot in Roscoe. Â I will gladly go back.
Review Source:I've been here 4 times so clearly I'm a fan. But I have to agree the prices are a bit steep especially for the locale. I mean, $10 for a martini! Really? Just comparing to similar nearby establishments like the Rockton Inn and 615 Club, the prices at this place are still on the uppity side. My most recent visit last night gave me the first "hmmm" moments. The salad came before the appetizer and soup, and we had to ask for bread and utensils. Later on, my date tried flagging down the same server at least 3 or 4 times to ask a question and I swear it seemed like he was ignoring her. Perhaps he was miffed earlier when I had jokingly said "you're batting a thousand tonight" when he noticed our lonely salad on the table. Then  when I took a puff from my electronic cigarette (i.e. NO smoke) after dinner, the bartender sauntered over to tell me to get rid of it because it gave "the impression of smoking"! Really? I've used it without any problems at finer establishments like Francesco's! What took the cake was when the owner decided to use the band as his personal karaoke machine. Really, buddy, keep it in the shower!
Review Source:I went there for lunch today  to meet some clients i seen that they have a 5 star rating I went into the restaurant  the lighting is dark .went to the restroom head 2 people arguing very very load cursing i left called my clients tell them to meet me some where else .I did not even sit down. VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE
Review Source:Went here on Sunday with my boyfriend and his mom to watch a bit of the Cubs v. Brewers game and have a late lunch. I ordered the steak salad with blue cheese dressing on the side and HOLY BANANAS if it wasn't the most amazing salad I've ever had the pleasure of eating! First, the produce - tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, lettuce, onion - you name it, it was fresh and crisp! The steak was cooked to perfection (medium rare). The dressing was of course awesome (who doesn't love blue cheese?!) and was made even better by the fact that there were chunks of blue cheese IN the dressing!
My boyfriend had one of their wraps which looked good and he seemed happy with, and his mom ordered a burger sans bun (she can't have gluten) and they were more than happy to accommodate her request. Only drawback? The screen we were watching the game on was right in front of a window and so the projection was just slightly had to see. But honestly, not that big of a deal, and it was pretty cool that they had both the Milwaukee and Chicago broadcasts playing simultaneously. Can't wait to go back the next time we visit!
We walked in and nobody greeted us... We sat down and waited 10 minutes foe someone to come over. Â We then ordered and 20 minutes later we are still waiting for our hamburgers. Â Waitress has only come over twice. Only one waitress, but they are not that busy.
Have no idea how good the food is as of yet
Very nice bar with leather seats and Cubs and Bears stuff all over.
Received the food and the hamburgers were very good. Â The owner then came over and spoke with us without me saying anything. Â Asked if everything was fine and I explained how long we had to wait for someone to interact with us...
He explained to me that a waitress called out b/c someone in her family had died. Â Also told me that they had 60 people come in on a Tuesday and that they are not used to that.
I told him not to worry and that if I was ever in the area again that I would give them another try.
Would recommend.
This place is a real shocker!
Wonderful, gourmet food, in a casual bar atmosphere.
I've been searching for good, true dry aged beef on all my travels for years.
Who would've thought I'd have found it in my own backyard.
All the food we have had on the three visits we've been there have been amazing, although the wings were just average. Sashimi Tune was outstanding.
I strongly recommend this place.
Poison Ivy is a great gathering place and has really good food at reasonable prices. Â They have a chef that comes up with some very interesting specials. Â Nice friendly bar and the owner goes out of his way to create a warm neighborhood pub atmosphere. Â Great food and great people make this a favorite of ours!
