Nice location, but if you're in the mood for food, keep driving.
All the elements are there for a decent restaurant. Good location, big airy building with deck overlooking Rockport Beach and nicely decorated  The only thing lacking is decent food. It seems the majority of the menu came from the freezer at Sam's Club. I would like to have enjoyed it more, but it's just not there yet.
Very Friendly service and a casual late night hangout. Looks kind of if-ee from the outside like a metal shop / auto garage but once you get settled inside its a great spot.
I didn't try the food but they had plenty of bottled beer options and those bottle filled coozies make it the kinda place you wanna hang out for a while.
Just had the sautéed shrimp tacos (2). Had a great tasting sauce & came with jalapeno spicy and very hot (temp wise) black beans. They were tasty beans. The Coors Lite was cold and the margarita tasted like I would've made it if I were out of limes. I just love limes! Two old men sat next to me and talked about the the women in their lives. The ambience is pleasing.  Enjoyed it after a long day at work.
Review Source:So I've been here twice.
There's really nowhere to go in Rockport, if you want to go out at night. There are some SHADY and ghetto bars down there. This place, not so much. Once I went at night and there was a wide range of people from 21 year olds (likely from out of town) to cougars. There was a guy with makeup on singing name Chase Brown or something.
Anyhow, I went here again, but for dinner this time. I had a beer (with free cool koozie that you can take home) and fish tacos w/fries. THE FISH TACOS ARE DELICIOUS AND LARGE. It is fresh blackened fish. Mmmmm. Prob one of the best fish tacos that I have eaten! I liked the fries too -- they were skinny fries.
I'm going back here for tacos again. This and Jaliscos is now my fav places to eat in Rockport now.
In my opinion, Poor Man's Country Club has the best food in the area. Â I've tried fish tacos all over the place and these are wonderful! Â They come blackened with black beans on the side. Â I don't know what they put in the black beans but they taste delicious! Â They also have free wi-fi which is important being there is no 3G in Rockport yet. Â You can sit out on the deck overlooking the water at night and feel the breeze coming off the ocean and listen to the live band playing on the weekends.
