They listened and now I can listen at the Press Box.  Went there last night for their $6 burger special (all burgers 6 bucks).  Well worth it.  And the house sound was down to a reasonable level.  I could talk without shouting to my dining companions.  The beer selection remains good and the burgers were good.  They were well seasoned and constructed with lettuce to look tall.  The wait staff told us that the burger meat is fresh, ground daily, never frozen, and cooked to order.  The guac bacon burger was good as was the slaw.   The bacon could be a little crisper and the bun more substantial.  It fell apart about half way through.  But the taste was great and the value made it even better;  I could get another beer!  I've got my fingers crossed they keep it this way.  It was a sparse crowd, but my guess was that they haven't wooed back the customers they chased away.  But if you were disappointed last month, give them another try.  They have actually changed for the better.

Our last visit started bad.  We sat on the outside patio and quickly realized we were sitting with a bunch of foul mouth drunks.  We moved inside and enjoyed our food and drink.  The outside patio was like walking into a sleazy dive bar and the inside was like a nice sports bar.  My suggestion is to request an inside table. We will be back but will be sitting inside.

I went in there with a friend of mine on a relatively slow night (either Sunday or mid-week, can't remember). We made our way up to the bar and looked over the draft list. I wouldn't say it's the most extensive I've seen, but respectable nonetheless. The main reason this bar got 5 stars instead of 4 is the bartender. He was one of the most knowledgeable I've encountered (and I like my bars..) about everything from the origin of some of the more local companies to what they pair well with to how they taste in relation to more commonplace beers. Great conversationalist. Made our trip from a pit stop for food into more of an experience.

Came here on a separate occasion (dinner time, more crowded), and it was good enough. Had the bleu cheese burger (fan-effing-tastic.. seriously, amazing) and watched the Kings game. Wait staff was good - not spectacular, not bad.

I don't recall the name of the bartender, but I wish I did. He's a huge asset to this place, which might otherwise just be another sports bar.

Decent beer selection- food is average for a bar.  Service was super slow, we sat ourselves and it took about 15 minutes for anyone to come take our drink order.  Then another 25 for our food order.
The positive is it's a good place to watch NHL games (that is rare in San Diego.)

I've come here a handful of time, and I like it. They do a really good job hosting events for UFC or the Superbowl, but the day-to-day feel of the place is just average.

They do have a pretty awesome bloody mary bar on the weekend.

This place is waaaay too loud, which is why I am taking away a star...BUT, their food and portions are awesome! Happy hour prices are really good. We took my brother here when he turned 21, and our bill was surprisingly low for 6 people who ordered food, and multiple beers/mixed drinks. Service was good, waitress was friendly, but I just can't get past the noise. There were like 3 people in the whole place watching a hockey game and they had the volume up all the way, so it was blaring through the place, and those 3 people kept screaming every time they scored. They need to put more fabric in that place to help with the noise, some curtains, table cloths, cloth seats, fabric on the walls, something!

I hit this place up midday for lunch and a glass of wine. The food and service are above average and they offer free wifi.

$2.50 XX bottles and $1 Street Tacos for Taco Tues!

Wow! This has to be one of the nicest bars in East County!  The design and beautiful wood is too nice for this strip mall it's located in, but I will take it, Buddy!!

I've been coming to Press Box since it opened up but the new Management has been a welcoming breathe of fresh air.  The staff really has their act together and are always checking in on our table.

They've changed up the menu, and from what I've heard it will be changed again. It used to be several pages long but they've cut it down to 2 pages.  The salads here are very filling and refreshing.  And their take on French Fries can  please the pickiest of palates. I really like the Greek Fries and the Buffalo Chicken Fries.

We came in for Mother's Day dinner this year, and some of my party ordered off the Pre-Fix Menu.  $30 for a choice of a starter: soup or salad...Course 2 options were: Sliced Filet Tenderloin YUMMMM, Sauteed Alaskan Salmon & Prawn, Australian Rack of Lamb YUMMMMMM, Oven Roasted Chicken, or Crab Crusted Sea Bass, Plus a choice of dessert.   This was fine dining status right in the heart of Rancho San Diego.  Everything was so fresh and amazing.

They have one of the widest varieties of craft beers.  Several on draft and many bottled selections.  I usually just stick with my go to Framboise, however their Michiladas go so well with Taco Tuesday nights.

Let me just jump to that real quick.  This is the ONLY place you need to be for Taco Tuesday.  $1 Fresh made Street Tacos out on the patio.  Yes, ONE DOLLAR!!  Things still exist in this world for a buck!  You order X amount of tacos from your server.  They will give you a ticket to give to the Taco Man outside and you can pick what type of protein you like: Carnitas, Pastor, Carne Asada, Chicken, and sometimes Fish.  They change it up.  There is a nice selection of taco toppings on the patio: Shredded Cabbage, 3 different salsas, hot carrots & jalapenos, cilantro & onion, and sometimes a special sauce.  I usually order 3 at a time, and have ALWAYS gone back for a second round.  They're so good and affordable, you can't say no.

This place gets JAM PACKED on fight nights.  You want to get here early for those special events if you want to get a table or booth.  The cool thing is they have a decent size TV out on the patio, so even if you are not inside, you can still watch the event on that TV screen.  There is also a nice sized Private Press Box you can reserve to watch special events.  I think you need to speak to the Manager, Joe, for those reservations.

The best catering service in all of San Diego county ~ hands down!  Press Box catered a baby shower at my home (25+ people) and the food was delicious, beautifully displayed, and  affordable.  The food was the center of the conversation and I am still being asked who catered this event.  I will never again go the Costco route when throwing a party.  We had 5 star food and it was all gourmet.  If you have a get together, small or large, I highly recommend this restaurant.  Joe Jr. and Sr. will make sure that your party is the talk of the town.  I'm so grateful and wish I could do more to spread the word.  Thank you so much for your attention to detail!

I'm  happily surprised that Press Box turns out to be a great place to have a drink, a burger, spaghetti and meatballs, or anything else a hungry person is hunting for.  The atmosphere is bustling and fun; it's roomy and laid out in an interesting, inviting way. The tv screens are carefully placed for our viewing pleasure, but not a nuisance. The most important thing to know is that the beer list includes Chamay, Duvel, Racer 5 and other hoppy beers. The wine list could use a couple more Sonoma or Napa choices. None of the Chards or Cabs are impressive. Yet there is a $300. Opus One for big spenders. There has to be a better selection in the $40- $50 bottle range. So I will definitely check back from time to time.

The new management has revamped the menu and it is fantastic!  There isn't one thing we have tried so far that we didn't love.  It's Def worth the try.  They keep having us come back for more. Buffalo Wing fries, Greek Fries, bacon cheese burger, Chicken Parmesan Sliders, All amazing!

I'm only giving them 2 stars for 2 main reasons:
    1. The food sucks here! I hated my philly sandwich but my husband loved his grill steak something sandwich.
    2. Why would 2 sandwiches and 4 beers cost $55??

I think they try to be a gourmet place but the food just doesn't cut it, it's not fresh, it's not prepared properly and it's definitely not worth $55 dollars. It's only a matter of time before they won't have business anymore.

    I love this place.

If you are a sports fan and live in this area this is the place you should be going for food, drinks and sports.

On every wall they have multiple HDTVs that show many different sports and sports channels.

So far to date I have only tried their burgers and meatball sandwiches. Everything has been great even down to their fries. The ingredients seem very fresh and full of flavor. I prefer the type of food that is horrible for your arteries and they are able to fill that request. But for my friends that actually care about their health they are able to find many menu items that are healthy and actually looked very good when they got it.

The service so far has been great. Drinks always filled, and attentive to any request made. Check this place out, you wont regret it.

Great place to have a fun, relaxing time with friends after work. Very friendly service, and consistently good food.  Chicken parmesan sliders, greek fries, philly cheesesteak fries, kobe sliders, $1 tacos on Tuesdays... they're all good!

Good food selection, good beer selection, a bit higher in price (just a bit), and service is solid, and friendly.  Biggest plus; they stay open very late.  Not too loud during off peak hours, and they let kids in.   Parking lot is sketchy, have seen a few fights there that drift from the Hookah lounge near by.

Awesome bar, hands down my favorite in East County... particularly because it doesn't have the typical East County bro vibe. Fantastic selection in beers, cool bartenders, cool patrons, solid bar food, and $1 tacos for taco Tuesday keep me coming back. Good place for sports too.

We sat ourselves And then sat at the table for 20 minutes and no waiter or server came to address us so we left to eat somewhere else.  Disappointing, two servers were talking with another table yukking it up but nobody came over to us for some reason so we had dinner in downtown LaMesa.

I have been a couple of times and the food is not too bad and it does the job.  What does that mean?  It has plenty of TVs to watch sports and a good selection of beer.  That is what most people are looking for in a "sports lounge" and Press Box delivers in that department.

I love this place. I work in the same area, and often get a short lunch. Sometimes I place my order so they have it ready. Staff is friendly, crowd is always great -- even the hardcores into their own specific teams on Sunday.

I have had about half the things on their menu, and loved them all.

Nachos are great, tomato bisque, steak strips on garlic mashed potatoes. And the outdoor patio is great. Heating lamps when it's cold, and perfect for chompin' on a cigar (or for the cancer stick crowds).

I will keep returning (and that has nothing to do with waitresses looking cute in football jerseys).

Food is okay. Service is the slowest ever. Took over 10 mins to get my bill. Had to flag down one of the waitress to take my payment after waiting for 15 mins for my waitress to come by and take it.  I was given dirt silverware to eat my food with.

This place would be good it they would just improve their service.

This place is a fun place to come to. We usually come during the week and the wait staff's customer service is always awesome.

I did come for dinner once and the food was average, but it's a bar for cying out loud. This bars down the freeway and we always try and make it here every so often.

We went to the press Box for the first time last night. The place is cool and the food & drinks were awesome. The service seemed good but it was a little noisy. I had a steak with sun dried tomato's and cheese on it...the cut of meat could of been a little better but very flavorful. The dinner salad was awesome!
My husband had a mushroom burger and he said it was good. He liked the fries as well. I know we will go back because everything they were serving looked amazing.
I'm surprised at some of the other reviews...the noise was the only problem for us.

Just wanted to provide a brief update...this place has continued to improve. I have not had any trouble with the service in a long time. They have some specials now on beer;$3/pint on Sundays is great.

Food is still a bit foofu for me but a few of the dishes are very good....Buffalo Fries are damn tasty as is the Balsamic Chicken Salad.  Press Box is Good Stuff

Last year a group of my GFs and I purchased a $20 discount through Living Social, we thought it would be a fun way to celebrate opening night of baseball. So we finally ventured out to try the Press Box.

We arrived before the dinner rush, the hostess told us to just seat ourselves we found a little table right in the middle of the restaurant handed menus then IGNORED for a good 20 mins. Waitresses, Waiters all walking around ,standing around chatting by the bar and totally ignored, no drink order, water, nothing. Finally my GF got up and asked the hostess for a waitress.

Quickly a waiter came over, he apologized and quickly payed attention to our table. We ordered drinks then placed and order for Greek fries. OMGOODNESS they were HUGE!! and so yummy, the sauce was addictive and different. Next time I'll order it without the peppercinis.

I ordered the chicken balsamic salad, my GF ordered the tacos (and they were HUGE) and my other GF opted for the french onion soup.  They all looked awesome and my salad was a good size and the dressing was awesome.

The ambiance is fun, TV's playing sports games on every wall and a wonderful wine selection.

I will say that there was a humorous and a little disturbing situation that seemed to happen all evening. The manager kept pointing out little things to the hostess, like a piece of lint on the floor, or a speck on the wall. It was quite disturbing to see the Hostess constantly cleaning things. Got the feeling that she was walking on egg shells, she was very friendly so this seemed a little unnecessary. Just my opinion.

Over all I'll be back. A bit pricey so keep that in mind!

I went here today with a friend and my daughter and I was really happy with the service. My daughter loved the kids meal chicken tenders and my friend loved the chicken she had. But I have to add stay away from the pettie sirlon it says with smocken peper but it really is totally covered and crusted in burnt peper. I tried to enjoy my meal because it was my friends birthday and our server was sooooo  nice yet the thing made me puck as soon as I got home.
    Service A+

I got some nachos for you!

To make it even better, you can have them with some grilled chicken or beef fillet as well. I had my order with fillet. I arrived just as happy had started, so my nachos where four bucks off, which came to 8 buck and some change. They came nicely piled (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/KQGhGwejt3c5VeXSQtCx8A?userid=WG3w_73scm_JUWJ_3Lgn0Q#9JOtQHkXD_0fAaiBB_SPeg">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>) with chips, tomatoes and onions, jalapenos, beef, sour cream, and of course an abundance cheese. A whole lot of liquefied cheese! If you like a lot of cheese on your nachos, you got to order these.

The one thing that kind of bummed me out about the nachos is that they were topped with guacamole that was not fresh. Fresh as in, made on the spot! I believe it is an already prepared version that some restaurants buy. If they would to top these nachos with fresh homemade guacamole, they would be top notch.

However, my immediate concern is that I am afraid that I may be battling some heart burn this evening, so I am preparing a prevented strike.

    Enjoy!

This place is the best sports bar in east county. Great beer selection on tap that changes,  VIP room with giant screen that you can reserve for a small event. Very very friendly staff and owner.  Great place for Happy Hour, watch Sports, Pay Per View Sports and a great place to meet great people.

The food is great, they have a Chef, yes a Chef and the menu changes from time to time.

A great place period!  GO PHILLIES - see you at the Pressbox when Spring Training commences.

Probably the best Sports bars in Rancho San Diego. They have a great selection of micro beers on tap. Inside is open and some what upscale nice bar, tables and couch's.

I've  been  here  3 times the food is hit and miss. I always went here during happy hour were all appetizers are half off. I've had the chicken strips(bad), Kobe sliders(good), buffalo fries(good), Onion rings (good) . The portions are not very big .  I'm not sure if they cut the size down for happy hour or these are the normal portions.

I also tasted their wings the sauce is not very good they seem to just use a  Saracha sauce.

This place is worth going to just for the beer section alone ! They have a great selection of beers on tap and in bottles. When they seat you they  give you sheet with their  latest beers on tap,  20 + beers from a bunch of different micro brewery's.

They also have a lot to TVs , a good place to watch the game or UFC. Good place with good service , very clean, great beers and Upscale interior  for a sports bar.

They also have beer and wine tasting including food  every so often. If you sign up online and join their  e mail list they will let you know when the tasting are.

The beer selection at Press Box is probably one of  the best in E. County (is Rancho San Diego considered E. County?) next to Main Tap in El Cajon. The food and drink menus are also extensive. A lot of good grub to choose from and everything seemed to be quality eats. The decor, furniture and ambiance was very comfortable.

We went with the Buffalo Chicken Fries and the Kobe sliders. I thought the sliders were very good, but you only get 3 of them...wish there were more. The fries were really tasty as well, but they were DRENCHED in buffalo sauce. I never get heartburn, but I felt it later that night for sure. I would recommend getting the buffalo sauce on the side if they'll let you do so.

I thought the service seemed very inattentive which is reason for the 3 star rating. They seemed to have plenty of servers on hand, but some of them just seemed to be standing around or folding napkins (tend to your customers...the napkins will be okay). It took way too long for them to come take our drink order and then another long wait just to get the drinks and finally order some eats. The food didn't take to long to come out however. I like places that are attentive, ask you if need anything, make recommendations, etc. often and this place didn't do that.

I'm sure I'll go back sometime, but at least now I'll know what to expect in terms of service...the food and beer will make it worth the wait I guess...

Only rating the food, which I got "to go". Which- may have been the way to go, every dealing I had with an employee was a little odd. I walked in, and there was no hostess, so I walked to the bar. Someone who I presume was a waitress walked out, and I told her I would like to order some food to go. She told me she would be right with me. Then a minute later the bartender gave me the "what can I get for you". I told him I would like to order some food to go. He then repeated "what can i get for you". I said, "A menu".

Since I have been eating carbs/sugar/cookies/frosting up the ying yang this holiday season, I decided to try the Mediterranean Veggie sandwich, which was actually pretty good, for a sports bar. The fries were ok, but fries never travel well so they probably would have been tastier eaten there.

It was only 10 bucks, for 2 sandwiches, which on my bill looked like I got a %50 discount. That's pretty cheap, and I'm not sure why It was half-off. And the more I thought about it the more it became hard to believe that the sandwiches were 10 bucks each, but anyways I didn't ask because I was trying to get home before El Cajon flooded. Looks like they have a good beer selection, will have to come back for a pint.

So I really didn't know what to expect reading the reviews but I like the beer and I like the food here!
I started off with the Nautical Nut Brown, I'm a darker beer fan and this didn't let down.  Very bold, nutty taste!
I then ordered the Black Pepper Filet Mignon Sandwich.  Very nicely plated with a side salad that left a little something to be desired but the sammich had mozzarella cheese, balsamic sautéed onions, tomatoes on a French baguette and it was friggin awesome!  I'm usually not an onion fan but they just added to the whole sandwich.  The steak was tender and just overall SO GOOD! I ate the whole thing!
Along with that I ordered another fave, the Mermaid's Red beer-always a good choice. They have an impressive beer selection and I always appreciate when they have what brewery and what alcohol percentage they are on the menu.

Had the Ahi Nicoise Salad since we had food catered from here for a work meeting.

Good, large salad...lots & lots of spring mix lettuce topped with seared ahi, three hard boiled eggs halves, marinated green & greek olives, fresh tomato slices, sun dried roasted tomatoes, artichokes, caramelized onions, fresh baby green beans with rice Dijon vinaigrette....hmmmm....did I forget anything?

Again LARGE SALAD!  Tasty too, but then again I LOVE Ahi tuna ....I ended up eating all of the toppings & only touched the surface of the mixed greens....ended up taking the rest home to make another salad for later! :-)

One of the greatest sports bars EEEVVVVVEEERRRRR!

Came here with fellow yelper "Tino" and a couple homies for the Shogun fight.  Tino always talked about hitting this place up so we finally did.  I LUV YOU Tino!  =)  For those who don't know who Aaron "Tino" T is, look his ass up and add him...  pronto!

Seats are limited so I suggest you get the early, especially when there's some kind of major sport event.  We thought we were early but when we arrived it was standing room only.  That didn't matter though because they had big LCD tv's all over the damn place.  No matter where you were positioned there was always a TV for you too look at and keep up with what was goin on.

Drink prices were good too.  A shot of ice cold jager I believe was 5 or 6 bucks.  Don't worry though you aint gettin short handed by no skimpy ass shot glass.  They have different drink specials for like everyday of the week.

If you's a baller I believe you can rent out their "VIP room."  I don't know the details, but from what I saw....  GOD DAMN!!!!   Do I need to be white to be in this room?

and there's plenty of EYE candy too.... EYE!

I was so hungry for a solid meal last Friday night but also wanted to make my hubby and his buddies happy by going somewhere with sports on the TV and brews on tap. This place was THEE perfect choice.

(We found out about it from the BOGO mailer, offering a buy one get one free entree. Turned out to be an incredible deal, I recommend you look out for it and USE it!)

We previewed the menu online and thought, oh yes, this coupon is going far. It is a legit menu, everything from beef ribs to filet mignon and yummy salads n sandwiches. The normal menu is decently priced for the quality, I dont think for a place like this that $10 bucks is asking too much for a Kobe burger...and for the size of the apps, the price is right.

We opted for a HOME RUN, since we had the coupon, and got the Filet Medallions and Baby Back Ribs with 2 sides each. The fries were money, as were the mashed potatoes and cole slaw. Veggies were the only blah part of the meal, but still decent. HOLY SMASH, the RIBS. I will definitely come here again for those ribs. I have NEVER had such succulent, tender and full on MEATY ribs in my entire life, and I have been to some places in Vegas and LA that claim "the best". Not even close to these bad boys. I didnt even care that I looked like a carnivorous cave woman as I chomped down all but two that I so graciously left for the hubby. ;) He literally had to wipe spots of bbq off my face afterward.

The wine list is awesome too, and they do these really cool wine tastings every last Thursday of the month. A smokin' deal for $25 bucks, I will definitely be there next week. LOVE this place, its about time some place like this existed in El Cajon!

A one of a kind place in East County.  If there is a game on and you want to watch it in Rancho San Diego, there is no place better than the Press Box!  Big flattys everywhere, and a number of couches to relax. Bar is nice people are very friendly.

The menu is different from what you might expect. Kobe burgers, filet mignon sandwiches... Louis XIII... It seems out of place for a sports bar in a strip mall next to a Hooka lounge and barber shop, tucked in behind a burger king... Horrible local, but once inside decor is very nice!!!

    Amazing beer menu!!!

I am pleasantly suprised at the quality of service, atmosphere, and overall class of this establishment.

Great place to watch sports and have a nice cold cocktail and maybe order some appetizers.  The prawn's are jumbo sized and the calamari was the right flavor/texture combination.

We parked ourselves on the couch's and received excellent attention all night while we watched the NCAA final b-ball game.  I am pleased at the over all quality...Job well done!
