Prospector's has a great menu of selections for everyone including a fabulous salad bar. Their goal, it seems, is to keep everyone happy with lots of food, drinks and bread for the table. We go in hungry and leave with doggie bags because there is an incredible amount of food on our plates. We've never had a disappointing experience here. It has a fun and cozy atmosphere too.

I love this place. Went there for brunch and it was done very well. I like the salads and the omelet  bar. Lots of other nice choices. Not too fancy, but for $12.99, you get quite a bit. Went with my nieces who are under 7 and only had the cereal. No charge for them except for their beverages. Nice job by the waitress.

I have been to this bar/restaurant many times mostly for drinks, but never for brunch. It was very busy and I brought my wife and 15 month old son. We also met another couple who has a two year old. It is definltey kid friendly.

Our waitress was very attentive and pleasant. Their brunch is buffet style and it 90% breakfast food (which is fine by me!). Lots of options including a waffle and omlette bar with all the fixings. Price was very reasonable of around $12 per person (15 month old free). The bill shot up a bit with a couple mimosas, but they were big and made with fresh OJ so was worth it,

Overall we had a great time and let feeling satisfied. I will definitely go back.

How time flies. So back we went for a Tuesday night dinner. I could pretty much cut and paste my old review here as nothing much has changed in the almost 4 years since I posted that one. Here's what I can update you on:

I tried the steak and my son had the meatloaf. The steak was large, cooked properly, and a fair deal for the price ($26) which included the salad bar. It came with a side of garlic mashed that were pretty bland, but the super rich brown gravy they were served with made right up for that. Meatloaf came with potatos and a mixed vegetable selection that looked great but tasted like bland mush. Meatloaf itself was very good.

Salad bar had not changed a bit. I read my review before posting this update and it's pretty much still exactly the same as it was. Points for consistency, minus a half point for not dumping off the pickled beets that were literally brown and egg salad that was two colors it shouldn't have been.

Bathroom doors for beth the men's and ladies room were propped open. I'm not sure if this was to allow for monitoring, keep air flowing, or if there have been problems with the chilli that have people doing emergency dashes to the can, but as everyone in salad bar land has a view through into the main areas of those rooms, I'd probably push them over on a busy night.

Service was adequate and the place overall was clean. A good deal for the price and always a pleasant time.

Decided to eat here tonight because of the fun atmosphere it portrays! Was not   Completely satisfied spinach dip was cooked too long leaving cheese hard on top, Mac n cheese bites flavorless, my side salad lettuce was frozen, steak was ok, side of steamed asparagus that I was looking really forward to.... Mushy canned microwaved, ugh spent way too much money on cheap quality food... Maybe ill just go back for line dancing lessons!

A friend suggested this place when I moved here last year.  It has a great selection on the menu and is family friendly.

HORRIFIC!  I just left Prospector's without ever eating due to how I saw others being treated.  I am a senior citizen and witnessed the manager screaming to a little old lady that she was a criminal and never to set foot in his restaurant again.  He also screamed that he was calling the police.

I went over to the elderly woman, being a senior myself and seeing her visibly upset, and asked what was happening.  She said she only ordered and the manager started speaking very loudly in the dining room.  She then was leaving with her friends when he was shouting that she was a "criminal".  I asked her why he used that choice of wording and she said she had no idea, she had ordered her food and her coffee and he became extremely loud and rude with her and with her friends.

This woman  was treated unfairly, humiliated in front of many including myself, all because this manager felt the need to shout at the top of his lungs.  What is his problem?  Doesn't he have a grandmother or a mother?  Does he treat them in this way?  Won't he get old someday?

SENIORS UNITE!  DO NOT GO TO PROSPECTORS IN MOUNT LAUREL, NJ!
This is no way to be treated!  Plenty of other restaurants are in the area and treat people humanly!.

By the way, I found out this woman was 90 years old and weighs only 100 pounds.   I feel the manager of this restaurant is nothing more than a bully to pick on this little older lady.  This is a disgrace!

    Signed,
A Fellow Senior Citizen Christian Woman

Prospectors has excellent food, a wonderful staff, great drinks and horrible illustrations of cowboys on the walls. Really, they're terrible. Airbrushed art from 1876 but that's what makes it awesome. Seriously,, it's one of my families favorite places to eat! My wife and I have a 2.5 year old and they're always very accommodating.

I don't know what to make of Prospector's. Walking in, the first thing you see is the salad bar and that strikes me as odd.

I ordered some fish and a side salad, the latter of which I only ate a few bites since it was covered in bacon or bacon bits or something. The fish was mushy and tasteless, so really all I could taste was the high amounts of sodium.

I don't want to knock this place because my friend and her family really enjoy it, but for me it just didn't hit the mark. I am just not a fan of huge portions of overly salted food, and it's a little pricey for what it is.

The service was fine if not a little robotic.

The new outdoor area is pretty nice but this place is average at best.  I know the country nights are a huge draw, but they need to revamp the inside of this joint.  It look dated and doesn't make me want to eat inside, ever!  I saw a few groups come in late for a few beers, which is doable outside, as it has room for large parties.  I lived close to here for years and this is the first time I have been in.  This won't be a go-to spot but if I ever need a place to watch the game and I don't feel like going too far, this might be an option.

I've been to Prospectors many times over the last 5 years or so of living in the area. The food is generally good, but sadly, the experience has been degrading over time. The produce bar is very good, but the entrees have increased in price a lot lately.

First and foremost, the service has taken a drastic drop. This last time, our waitress arrived to take our drink orders.  When inquired what the specials were, the waitress said "Um.. I think swordfish and some other weird stuff."

After getting our drinks, and placing our order, seeing our waitress was a rarity.  We all partook in the produce bar, which resulted in empty plates. Our plates and empty cups just started to gather on the table. When our food was brought out by a different person, he took our empty plates, and she stopped by then with some refills.

The waitress left all the empty glasses and vanished for a while. Our drinks needed refills and she did eventually show up after our cups were stacked on top of each other.

The atmosphere is fine, unless you're anti-western theme.

Wow!  This place is pretty bad.  The server or lack of one, was terrible.  The salad bar was really good but everything else was over priced and both of our meals were terrible along with the service.  I would not advise going here for dinner.  I guess people come for drinks and whatever but as far as food, I would steer clear unless your just getting the salad bar.  It's a real shame.  The place is kinda cool looking.  I don't have much to say about it.  It's just not worth eating at.

I've been here a ton of times over the years.  The addition of the outside bar was really nice, though it can get packed.  When we used to live around the corner from here, we'd frequent it, but we've since found many better bars.  We went into the 'club' one night, and had to pay a cover.  It was line dancing night, and there were about 10 people on the floor dancing, and another 10 sitting around the bar.  A pretty lame showing, and definitely not worthy of a $10 cover.

The food is decent, but expensive, and they're suffering from a very small beer list.  It's pretty much just BMC type stuff.

Really, the best part about this place is the salad bar.  It's huge, they've got a ton of tasty choices, and everything is really fresh.

Ugh, I just can't believe how much money I paid for eating one of the worst meals I've had in recent memory.

Sunday brunch - huge, long lines for salty breakfast dishes, including limp fatty bacon, corned beef hash, breakfast potatoes, and oily scrambled eggs.  I can't believe I stood in line for 15 minutes to eat this crap.  Didn't even bother heading over to the omelette made-to-order station because there was another long line there.

The salad bar was about the only decent option, but having to wait to wait in line forever just made me grouchy.

Unless I can get a seat at the outdoor bar, I'm really not interested. The food has increasingly gotten more and more expensive, the service is always meh (can have periods of disappearance...blase attitudes...)...if I need an outside bar on a warm day, maybe mid afternoon to catch a baseball game, sure.  But a Thursday/Friday/Saturday night??  NO WAY.  I was shocked they actually charge a cover on their inside "dance club" on like a Thursday night when there's no seats at the other inside bar (this was a few years ago, so maybe it's changed now with the outside bar), but that was a little ridiculous.  Eight bucks?  For an empty room?  I also remember them suddenly making all the bartenders measure their drinks and add more ice...we had a particularly chatty tender who was mortified to be serving drinks that were $10 and only a few drops of scotch.
Anyway, it's good for a bar snack and a drink...again, I stress maybe spending your time outside on off hours...

At first, i thought this was related to the Claim Jumper in California as the sign Said "Prospector's Grille and Saloon - Claim Jumper". However it is not related at all. They have one of the biggest and best salad bar's i've ever been to. All the vegetables, meats, cheeses, fruits, nuts dressings and toppings you could ever want. Most other places you go to for a salad bar, lack toppings with protein and i often want to order a soup or sandwich on the side. But this place was great. It was like 8 bucks for all you can eat salad bar. The other items on the menu were huge and came with lots of sides. Great place for a group or a family. And the western themed bar (with huge dance floor) looked like fun!

A friend took us here when we were in town and it was very good. The salad bar alone was amazing and could be your entre. I had the ribs which were pretty good but next trip I would definitely try a steak as this is what they are known for, however my wife had the grouper fingers and they were quite tasty.

I had the delight of having lunch here with two mommies from my playgroup. The company was great but I was not impressed with the food. I ordered the fish and chips plus the salad bar. The chips were great not so much the fish, a little too oily for my taste. The salad bar was too expensive and was not really worth it.

Yes this place has been around over 25 years, I remember when it was nightclub, restaurant on other side. Sure changed owners, but now with western theme, Ehh. If you can get passed that-Just not my thing, The food there is actually pretty good!!! Their rolls, remarkable, with butter, salads are great, burgers are on point! It's a local place if you don't feel like crossing the bridge , or going anywhere too far, beats McD's or fast food. Service is good..just well maintained overall.

The outside bar is the only reason to go, unless you enjoy fake Jersey cowboys/girls, then go on inside. The dinner roles are awesome.

It's weird, I want to like Prospectors so much less than I actually do.

I'll start off with this: I can't stand the western theme; I have a hard time going into the bathroom (where the country music is piped in at its loudest) without feeling like I'm supposed to be doing some kind of honkey tonk jig.

But if you can get past the corny cowboy business, what lies beneath is actually pretty good stuff.  The servers are great.  The salad bar really is kickass.  Their rolls are warm and addictive.  Nothing I have ever eaten there has been less than decent.  They have Blue Moon on tap, which I know is not that impressive, but still makes me happy.

The patio, which is enclosed and heated in the winter, is a little less country and has proven to be perfect for several office social events.  It houses a great bar and lots of high and low tables that can be moved around to accommodate large groups.

Bottom line: the decor is not my style, but the everything else there satisfies my achy breaky heart.

I had the delight of dining at the Prospector this past weekend and was thrilled to pieces with their lunch buffet.

Let me start out by saying I highly value comfort foods over fancy food.
The buffet at the Prospector is all about satisfying that comfort food craving.
    My first plate consisted of:
eggs Benedict (generously smothered in Hollandaise sauce)
    scrambled eggs (moist and fluffy!!!)
    bacon (crunchy)
biscuits & gravy (biscuits were a hair dry)
hash browns (holy hell salyt/spicy goodness, awesome!)
corned beef hash (gotta have it)
    sausage patty
    french toast (just ace)

For my second plate I split a small stack of waffles from their waffle station - perfectly cooked, smothered in butter, syrup and with some strawberries on top - heaven!

A friend I was eating with opted for the mini-waffles which are about 2-3 inches wide, and another friend had an egg white/spinach/pepper omelet from the omelet station.

They had tons and tons of other foods, but I only have eyes for breakfast foods:)

At 11$ for the buffet how can you go wrong!
I will definitely visit this place again!!!

We went there for Easter Lunch.  The place was just terrible.  We had a reservation for 20 at 2:30 and we showed up on time.  They seated us promptly on makeshift tables in the bar and then told us to go eat. The lines for the food were snaking through the place and you could not stand for five seconds before you were in someones way.  We finally get to the food and it is all breakfast foods, dried and over cooked.  The only meat aside from burnt bacon and sausage was a scrap of dry turkey loaf and some gristly roast beef.  The salad bar was nice except there were no salad dressings left.  We got our first round and then the teenage waitress told us that they promptly tear the buffet line down at 3pm.  We only got one round, some only got salad and others only got meat thinking that we could go back.
I would NEVER, EVER go there again.  Totally chaotic, we got billed for drinks we never ordered and what kind of place would book a 2:30 table for 20 knowing that they stopped serving at 3?

We used to live up the street from here, but didn't go that often.  Why?  Huge amounts of food.  Good food.  Not knock your socks off good, but good all the same.  Dynamite rolls.  Good selection on the salad bar.

Weekend brunch has lots of good selections, but at the price they charge for it, you either need to eat a ridiculous amount of food (it's like $15/person) or just resign yourself to a $15 omelette..

Prospector's is fine if you're just in for lunch on break or something. There's nothing spectacular about the place--not that banality is unusual for New Jersey. The rolls here are good. The food is status quo. Let's just say I've been several times and recall pretty much nothing about the food. They gave me a piece of cake with a candle on my birthday once. The toy train lining the ceiling is interesting for a little while. The staff is okay. But the seats, oh the seats. Tall people, beware, the table will be a mile away near your knees, which will be awkwardly positioned just beneath. Not a good place to sit and chat.
