One of the better family friendly places in town. Good food, good service, nothing fancy but a better-than-average bar menu. The magician who works Wednesday nights is a wonderful guy who is quite good at his craft. Ask him to do the book trick: it's a mind blower.

    Great place to eat.
Have gone over a dozen times and never had a bad meal.
Recently we had brunch there on Sunday. Was very reasonably priced and the food was good.
In the past i had the surf and turf for dinner, was excellent.
Also the marinated steak tips were great.
The only bad thing i can say about it is sometimes the food takes a wile to come out. But it is always fresh and tasty so i don't mind the wait. I just have another beer.

Restaurant was noisy. LINSEY, our waitress was the best waitress we have had in the area. 2/2 stars are for her outstanding service. Now... about the food. Sigh. My French Onion soup was canned. The crock had very little bread and it was not cooked correctly. Served with two cheese covered croutons. :( No melted cheese on the crock either. There were parts of onions which are not part of a quality dish. My BLT had ripe tomatoes and fatty bacon. Marinara sauce for the appetizers of mozzarella sticks, was not homemade and was very comparable to a HUNTS product from the grocery store. Buffalo wings were average. Two sodas cost $4.50!!!! Very high compared to neighboring establishments. The decorations of the restaurant were all odd and seems sort of strange to have random people and random pictures throughout the seating areas. Finally before leaving I had to use the restroom.... YIKES!!! dirty no toilet paper definitely didn't want to sit on a dirty unflushed toilet so I did the handy dandy hovering maneuver! I definitely feel you can get better food elsewhere but as I am an undercover food critic I have to give every place at least 1 try. obviously the best part of my visit was having Linsey as my waitress! Very attentive, very on top of what we needed, and well well earned a good tip!

I was pleasantly surprised at The Pub, given some of its overall Yelp rating and some of the not-so-hot reviews. Granted, we visited for dinner on a Friday night when students were home on break, so it's possible our experience would have been different if not for that fact.

As others have pointed out, the menu is "eclectic." There's no real theme to the dinner options at The Pub; instead the menu is a diner-esque compilation of enchiladas, pulled pork, chicken parmigiana and dozens of similarly unrelated items. Typically, I find this type of kitchen sink menu disconcerting, but thankfully our meals were great.

At my father-in-law's suggestion, I ordered the fish tacos (which was probably about as far out of the box as I was willing to go in this particular restaurant). I wasn't disappointed-- they were actually really delicious. Large pieces of cod were accompanied by fresh pico de gallo, shredded cabbage, and a mild chipotle sauce. (The sauce was described as spicy, but it wasn't really.) I ordered a side of fries as well, and they were excellent-- thin cut, and crispy.

Our waitress was friendly, and did a completely fine job. Prices are super reasonable. As others have noted, the beer selection is not terrific. There is plenty to choose from, but it's clearly a quantity over quality situation.

Great service, fun menu and good atmosphere. I like to come here for lunch or an early dinner when its quiet. Yummy salads and great home made fries is what makes it for me here.

5 stars for nostalgia. 2 stars for food.

As a college student I'm the 90s this was he place to go. And to all the people who knock the pub and the NYC students who go there, let me just say duh we know its not a club I mean have you ever been to NYC. This is just a fun place at least in he 90s to drink and dance.

Antonios. Ok so it not really pizza but my god is it delicious. Had the BBQ chicken and broccoli and I have to say I'm a happy camper.

Club Pub: the hangout for New Jersey/York students and people who want to pretend their clubbing in a city. Don't take that the wrong way, I've had a lot of fun there, it's just not that cool once you turn 22 and leave college.

Crappy food, lame beer selection... There are much better alternatives.

Congrats the Pub, I hate you. Overpriced, shitty beer. Shitty dancefloor carved out of moved tables from a shitty restaurant playing shitty music surrounded by shitty people. Complete. utter. shit.

The pub is like some bad stereotype from a B-college movie. This isn't so much because of the bar itself, although the only good beer they have is BBC and they have literally every variety of shitty light beer, as it is because of the people who inhabit it. It's pretty frequently a sausage fest in there and it's always inhabited by the frat dude types. I don't think I've ever heard a 3 syllable word in the place. The staff is mostly competent and friendly and the prices are reasonable, but this just is not a pleasant place to be.

Another bar/burger place indistinguishable from Amherst Brewing Company or Northampton Brewing Company. It serves its purpose on those nights you aren't feeling particularly adventurous.

It's ok. Which in itself is too bad because I hold a lot of fond memories of this place from back in the 70's and 80's. But the decor and the menu have changed over the years and in my opinion it has lost both it's charm and it's flavor. Someone once said, "There is nothing that gives me more pleasure than to enter a simple establishment that specializes in one thing, and does it extremely well."  And that is the problem here. There are so many choices on the menu it is difficult, if not impossible to decide what to order. It's as if they are trying to cater to everyone and as a consequence nothing tastes great, just o.k.
A few years ago, my wife and I used to go there once every couple of months and stopped when we just couldn't bare the service any longer. Sitting at the bar was fine, but if you had a table outside or inside, the service could be hit and miss, with miss being the rule rather than the exception. If you are in Amherst, there are better places to go for food, but maybe not the night life.

This place is another spot that has been here for years and caters to the student population in this town. It basically amounts to a burger and sandwich restaurant that turns into a nightclub on weekends. The menu is a mess of soups, salads and burgers and sandwiches that are not even that good and taste worse than some of the local chain restaurants around the area. The burgers are dry and tasteless, the salads are limp and nasty and the place has not one creative item on the menu. You may even catch some student outside getting sick from drinking too much on weekends. If you are looking for a quick bite, go down the road to Friendl'ys, where at least you will know what you are getting. It can't be any worse than the hair you will find in your soup from the student cooking in the back!

What an interesting place. As a restaurant, pub, and dance floor near the UMass/Amherst campus, you'd think it would be exclusively a student hang-out spot. While it may be that at times, any time I've gone there, it works great for families. As such, it's become one of my favorite places to go in Amherst with both my son and my mother. Food is good and reasonably priced, and the kids' menu keeps my son happy. Also, in the summer, the patio is fantabulous for dining outdoors.

Nothing fancy, just a big menu with lots of stuff (salads, burgers, wraps, meat&potatoes, etc), a disco ball over the dance floor (but I've never been late enough to see it in action), and Kids-eat-free Wednesday nights.

I like their New Orleans Cobb salad.

The Pub is ALWAYS packed, so make sure you get here at least before 11pm! My friends and I tend to come here every Thursday night (college night) and we always have tons of fun. The DJ generally plays fun music (and is open to requests too!) and the dance floor is always bumpin'.

Sometimes it gets a bit too crowded -- you'll likely be jostled about and get a few elbows to the face and back. It's impossible to leave and not feel dirty (drenched in sweat and beer), but what can you expect from a bar located right in the center of a college town?
