Something about the atmosphere at the Pub in the Pines just makes it awesome, I think it has to do with the layout; it kind of forces you into conversations with strangers. Â Definitely a great place to meet new people.
Really it's the only bar for miles around so it has that going for it, but they do it right, they really do.
Ehhh...it's ok.
It is a perfectly adequate bar. Â Pool tables, dart board, juke box, all the standards that you kind of expect to see in a bar. Â they do have a nice amount of flat screen tvs mounted on the walls always tuned to the big games, which I like. Â
The atmosphere is fine, slow and quiet many nights and loud and a lot of fun on others...like a lot of bars, I suppose. Â The food, to me, just isn't that great. Â To my taste, it's a bit predictable and nothing too special. Â (Look at some of the other reviews, there are some people who just love it...just not me.)
My bigger hang-up about the bar is that I've had hit-or-miss service. Â Here's me, standing at the bar on a very slow night and the bartender won't stop chatting to come over and see what I wanted. Â A group of us waiting quite a while to get our tab so we could leave...Little things that if they had happened once, it'd be no big deal...but after several times it seems to be a (small) pattern of behavior. Â
So I give 3 stars, it's ok. Â I don't avoid the place, but I'm not exactly pushing my friends to hang out there, either.
The bar is great. The bartenders are friendly. The Wings are the best. I recommend the Kick'n BBQ or Thai. On Thursday Wing night, you can get a 2, 3 or 4 dozen samplers with their different flavors. Make sure you get there early or you won't get a seat, this place packs for their wing nights.
