Here's a great favorite having something for everybody- pizza for the kids, of course, but interesting pizza for the grown-ups, and nice huge salads too.
Our favorite is the 'Cactus Pizza', with green chilis, chorizo, red & yellow bell peppers, and cilantro. A very interesting combination of flavors giving a small heat bite balanced with sweetness.
The staff are very friendly, very capable with kids. They've always been very willing to move the tables around for a large group, even though their space is fairly limited. Fair warning: We love it for the food and for the casual family atmosphere. It can get kinda loud in there with all the kids sometimes. We regard it as a good, homey thing, but if you're wanting a lower key experience...
This is a review stictly about there customer service - Â Food review to come soon!! So i started with a great intro from the staff, gave her my ridiculously long order and then she actually read it back to me to confirm that it was right prior to delivery. Â I have to say that this is awesome! Â It is so simply yet noone does it anymore! Â Furthermore, she was very pleasant,m I know it sounds silly, Â but it is fantastic and its nice to see good values coming through.
Review Source:The Chicken Bada Bing calzone is pretty darn decent - the ricotta and goat cheese play nicely together with the chicken and crispy crust. Â The side of marinara sauce really elevates the flavor, I was surprised at how complex and balanced it was (after several shakings of red pepper flakes, of course). Â Service was friendly and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Â Just be prepared ... eating a calzone for lunch at Puccini's will all but guarantee that you'll want/need to take an afternoon nap.
Review Source:Bit pricey for pizza but WORTH it! we ordered Giacomo and Cactus Delectus. Both were delicious. The crust was in between the typical hand tossed and thin crust. tasted fresh and homemade. The cactus Delectus pizza had a little zip to it with peppers and chorizo, but it wasn't too hot for my grandparents to eat. perfect.
Review Source:Awesome pizza!!! I loved it and these guys support their troops, cut this soldiers bill in half!
I go all over the country and eat at the top pizza places in every city. The pizza here would be on my top 25 list in the country. Don't miss this one if your passing through and if you live here I'm sure your eating here all the time.
Enjoy, I posted some more pics.
I'm probably biased, but I consider this place one of Indy's best Italian. Â My wife and I love the small, quaint, almost hole-in-the-wall vibe you get with this place. Never had a bad experience, both in food and service. For a while we were going once a week.
Tried nearly everything on the menu. Like others have said, can't go wrong with the pizza's. Â Notable pasta dishes include: Pesto w/ chicken, Vodka, Quatro Formagio and the lasagna. Oh, and the homemade Italian vinaigrette dressing is amazing.
I appreciate that they have gluten free pizza crust and pasta options. We just ordered the Margherita Pizza (fresh tomatoes, fresh garlic, fresh basil, oregano & fontina cheese) with extra garlic (fresh) and the Sweet Lil Razorback (bacon, smoked sausage, pepperoni, basin and garlic. Yummy! It was around $33 for two medium pizzas.
Review Source:puccini's is so delicious. Â as a carb-loving vegetarian, i recommend the minestrone, angel hair pasta w/ tomato sauce, & the lean machine pizza, & my carnivorous friends love the campfire pizza. Â their salads are great, too, and the prices are super reasonable. Â it's definitely not a fancy place & the decor is fairly bland, but the wait staff is good & the food is fantastic.
Review Source:2.5- Meh, nothing good or great. Â Came here on July 3rd for lunch. Â The wife and I wanted something quick and close, so there it is.
AMBIENCE- The outside is somewhat misleading. Â I wasn't aware that this place is a sit down and order kind of place. Â I thought it was an order and sit kinda joint. Â They did some cost cutting on the decor. Â Tables were covered with a plastic, picnic like pattern, and the walls were adorned with art with a cartoony Italian food theme. Â It looked like they got all of them from the same garage sale.
SERVICE- our server was nice, though towards the end, she totally disappeared. Â We were ready to leave, and she was no where to be found. Â I walked up to the front, and asked for our bill because we were sick of waiting. Â c'mon folks, you weren't even that busy.
MENU- I'll be honest, our eyes didn't make it much farther than the lunch specials. Â I've heard their spinach and three cheese pizza is to die for, but I was craving a calzone, and low and behold there they were on the menu. Â They have appetizers, salads, pastas, and such, but my mind was set on a calzone.
FOOD- the wife got the lunch special which is a salad, drink, and slice of pizza (they have a veggie and meat slice you can choose from, and the wifey went with the veggie slice). Â Not a bad deal for $6 or so. Â I went for the calzone with meatballs. Â On the menu it said it came with gorgonzola, which I hate, so I swapped for the ricotta.
I can't say any one thing about the meal was that impressive. Â My calzone was decent, and a fair size, but just not that great. Â The wife's salad looked pretty typical, and the pizza was just ok.
OVERALL- I doubt we'll be going back, unless friends REALLY want to go. Â I dunno, I'm all about supporting the local businesses, but this place just didn't do anything for me. Â It's a shame too, because this place is about 5 minutes from us.
Celebrity Rating- Dax Shepard
Really good pizza. That's about it. Pretty cheap for the area. They have a pizza that is entirely meat & cheese (why mess w/ gross veggies?). I get that pizza pretty much every time, the garlic bread is also great so between that and the bacon, my breath surely would wilt flowers like in Looney Toons short. Anyways check it out, great local pizza that's much better than the large national chains.
Review Source:Puccini's is good stuff. Their salads, in particular, are delicious. They're huge, so be prepared for that, and you also might want to ask for the dressing on the side. Their pizzas are also pretty large, but if you're here with kids, they have some kind of version of a personal pan pizza that works well for the young 'uns. This might be one of the reasons that Puccini's gets absolutely packed around earlier dinner time (6:00 or so) so I recommend either making reservations or coming later.
Maybe my biggest complaint about Puccini's is their beer and wine list--it's not all that extensive. Of course, they bill themselves as more of a "family restaurant," so I suppose that may be why. And it's no Some Guy's, which is my favorite pizza place in town. But it's still high above the low-end chain restaurants, which are pretty much the only other offerings out in this neck of the woods.
Yum yum yum! Puccini's meets three requirements for a good meal: tasty, fast and affordable! I stopped in today and grabbed a half-order of garlic cheese bread and Diet Coke to accompany the big salad I already packed for lunch. It was out within a couple of minutes and only set me back about $3.
I've also went to Puccini's for their pizza, salads and calzones. Never had a thing I didn't like there! As Betsy A. mentioned, they do have some nice daily pizza specials here that are worth checking out. And, while I haven't tried it, my coworkers LOVE their pepperoni bread for its greasy, cheesy goodness.
I have always taken my food to go, so I can't comment on what it is like to dine in, but they do have a small dining area with wait service. Puccini's isn't fine dining, but it sure is tasty, so give it a shot!
Another of those restaurants with multiple locations and as per usual, some are better than others (see my review of the Carmel location).
The Puccini's on 116th is about as dependable as it gets for a yummy, hot and fast lunch. Hubby works in this part of Fishers and when I am able to meet him, I often steer him in the direction of Puccini's - this way I know he will not resort to his standard drive-thru fare.
We usually partake of the daily pizza special here, but on occasion we've also tried the calzone (esp. the delicious Queen of Hearts!) and the spinach ravioli. You really can't go wrong with the slice o'day special, though. What you get: a generous slice of either the meat or veggie pizza of the day - which is conveniently listed on their online menu so you can plan ahead...there's even a "hold the meat' quicklink, cool! - Â and a nice tossed salad with lettuce, green peppers, red onions, tomatoes, black olives and shredded cheese (I hope Monical's Pizza takes a lesson from Puccini's on how to make a "good" side salad). Add a tall glass of freshly brewed iced tea and you're set for the rest of the afternoon!
Service at this Puccini's has always been as good as the food - can't vouch for the evening crew, but the day crew is very attentive and quick.
Oh, last but not least...believe it or don't, but we had a great tiramisu here. It had just the right melding of coffee, mascarpone and chocolate - satisfied our sweet tooth without knocking us into a sugar coma and was light and refreshing...as tiramisu should be. It is supposed to "pick you up" after all.
Veggie lovers: this is a good place for you - plenty of non-meat eats!
