Rain Restaurant

We celebrated our anniversary here.  When we arrived, they had the menu with the day's specials and at the top of the menu was "Happy Anniversary, Mr & Mrs Gerard."  Our hostess at the bed and breakfast (The Copper Lantern Inn-highly recommended) called up Rain to tell them.  We certainly were not expecting that gesture!
The service is very good, although it was quite a busy night.  Now onto the food:  it was all delicious.  One particular standout was the appetizer special, pork cheeks.  It was full flavored and practically melted in the mouth.  I chose the Shrimp & Grits since I'd never had it before.  If not for the other tempting meals on the menu, I'd order it again the next time I'm there!!  I still haven't figured out how the kitchen staff peeled a soft-boiled egg to put as part of the meal.  It was perfectly cooked, like a perfect Eggs Benedict, but in the shape of a hard-boiled egg.  My wife ordered the Ahi Tuna and she enjoyed it.  Dessert of the day was excellent!  We highly recommend this restaurant.

I was there last week and the food was fantastic.  However, the manager was rude.  He left us standing up front waiting to be seated after saying he would be right back to seat us.  When he FINALLY returned he didnt apologize, just said he had forgotten we were waiting.  Then our waitress came to our table asking us to "hurry and pay the bill because the manager wanted to leave."  I now understand the place closes at 2 pm (we were unaware at the time), but a little tact would have been appreciated.  Get rid of him and the restaurant would be perfect!

This restaurant was amazing!  We were just coming through town for one evening. We read the reviews on Yelp for this restaurant and they did not disappoint us. It was fall and we both started with yummy fall soups of cauliflower and butternut squash.  My husband had the filet and it was great and filling.  I had one of the most scrumptious sea scallop dishes with gnocchi.  Can't wait to go again one day!
