OK place - decent brews and standard food - if back in Tacoma I'll swing by again for lunch but not going out of my way. Â Started with the beer cheese & ham soup which was pretty darn good and my main was the Brewers Steak - I asked for it medium rare but it came out medium well as well as cool. Â My guess is they put it on the shelf while the rest of the tables order was completed...even though the rest had burgers.
Review Source:I went to dinner with some people I know from my dentist office. Â They were just getting off work. Â I arrived before and it was dinner time. Â Very busy but they were accommodating. Â They sat me at a huge booth even though it would be the three of us. Â They were good about directing my dinner mates to where the table was located when they got there 15 mins later. Â The service was average. Â The waiter did a good job with our orders. Â My ribeye steak sucked pretty bad though...I'd say about 40% of it was clumps of fat. Â There was no flavor...no salt or pepper at all? Â Nothing...veggies were garbage...the mash potatoes with cheese was good. Â Our appetizers were good though. Â Drinks came fast and were refilled promptly...alcoholic drinks as well. Â That is the only reason for 4 stars...cause the server did a great job.
Review Source:Last night was the worst experience I have ever had at The Ram. Â We chose to visit the Ram because friends of ours had never been there and it has always been good. I grew up in Lakewood and going to this family owned business. Â After arriving at the Ram and beginning our order I checked the Ram here on yelp and was shocked to see the current rating and was in disbelief. Â I give it one star because there were some redeeming qualities.
We ordered appetizers. The Calamari and the Armadillo Eggs. Both were delicious. The server who brought our appetizers out was friendly and joked around about them almost not making it to the table. She was not wrong in anyway way. The fried Calamari was the steak part of the squid and was soft and melt in your mouth delicious. The Armadillo Eggs were something I would love to learn to replicate. Spicy in all the right ways.
Our server I can not remember his name was great to begin with but got unattentive and distant as the night progressed and got worse for us.
I don't understand why when you are assigned a server why other servers bring your meal components to your table? Our server only delivered our drinks to our table.
So on to dinner, Vampire Fries, as they smell delicious they were greasy as all get out and not a very large serving when ordered s a side. My friend ordered and asked for a large side of the fries and was not told they only come in one size. My husband who also ordered a side of the fries  received more on his side order then our friend. Also ordered was the clam chowder. I am not sure what it was that was received but it was not clam chowder. It was super runny, no depth to it and looked like water down soup from a can. correction that might look better. Chowder from a can has bigger potato slices in them. Â
The burger ordered by our friends.. The bottom bun was so full of grease and not appetizing at all. It was soaked, and again the vampire fries with the order was super greasy also.
My meal was okay. The cheddar mashed potatoes were a little beyond warm, but were not creaming at all, they were like a lump in the ramekin they were in. I added some butter to them to make them palatable. The seasonal grilled vegetables were cold not done at all and did  not look appetizing at all. They are peppers, zucchini, red onions and mushrooms. With the mushrooms in the mix it makes the vegetables look like they have dirt all over them. I also had the Porter Mushroom Chicken. This was good.
My husband's meal out of all four meals was perfect with the exception of the vegi's not looking appetizing but they were hot.
The Chowder came without a spoon we had to stop another server to get a spoon and the butter that I requested for the potatoes. Our server finally brought my husband's soda refill back and asked if everything was  good but he kept walking and didn't even stop to listen to how it wasn't okay.  So not only does he not bring out our food he isn't there to ask us if there is anything else. It was not a busy time of the night.  We arrived there at 4:30pm for an early dinner. So off to stop another server and ask for a manager. Charles the manager was great at his customer service and apologized for the state that our food was received in. He offered to have everything remade correctly but by that time the server and the food had put a bad taste in our friends mouth. So they food was taken off the check and 40 dollar vouchers were given to our friends and 20 dollars to us for the experience.  My husband finished his meal and I most of mine.  We didn't see our server at all to see if we needed drink refills while we sat there and we had to wave down another server to ask for our checks I am disappointed nothing was taken off our check for my meal and I don't feel my friends should have been charged for anything they did eat. I know the beer still had to be paid for because that can not be comped. Yes the manager did try to make it right by offering vouchers to come back and try again but I am not so sure I want to visit the Lakewood Ram anytime soon.
THe RAM!!!
It's the RAM!!! What can you say about it? It has good bar and grill food, The drinks are standard with their combination of beers!!! The TV is very where in the bar!!!
If anything try their alligator eggs or ostrich eggs. I think that's what they were called. Just interesteing to share with others just b/c of it's name.
GOOD food I had the beer bater shrimp and my wife had the steak which was cooked to perfection. Â I had the Total Disorder Porter but tried The Blonde and The Red Beer. ( go there and you will find out) Â My only complaint is please with like 50 seconds left of a game DO NOT CHANGE THE CHANNEL but thats my only complaint.
Review Source:I have been here many times and I always get decent service and good food. Â My favorite part is that if you and a friend order a sandwich and salad, they will split them in half and plate them separately so you both can have half an order of each. Â This makes for a great way to try different entrees.
Review Source:I come here often for the beer and burgers, I've seen plenty of bad reviews for service, but service in the bar is usually top notch. The seasonal beers are great and I love their Porter. Try the burgers, my favorites are the hillbilly and the stadium. They would rate a little higher if there hadn't been occasional mistakes, such as getting a well done when I ordered medium rare, but out of the several dozen times I've been there it has only happened twice. When the waitng staff noticed, I just ate it, they offered to replace it.
Review Source:Great experience for my first time. Our server was very attentive and friendly. I thought it was only because she was training someone but my companions said they'd had her as a server before and she's always that way. Cool.
I can see this place as becoming my go to Burger joint in Lakewood. Huge selection of burgers and a variety of other stuff from pasta to salads. I especially liked the homemade chips. The Dirty Ruben was my choice. It definitely satisfied my hunger. It was monstrous. The place has plenty of TV's and a good selection of Beer too for you sports fans. I am hoping for the same experience every time!
1st visit, Teriyaki Stir Fry Chicken, Food was cold, comes back 5 sec later scorching hot. Microwave?
Desert, ordered a cake of some sort...it came rock frozen i couldnt even get the knife in it.
2nd visit, Veggie burger with sauteed onions....came with raw onions. Took them over 25 min to resolve the issue. For a gift certificate since I was waiting for a movie. Friend ordered Fish and chips...the potatoes were still raw in the middle. Waitress? Where did she go? Can we get silverware...after the food arrives it does.
3rd visit, Veggie burger with Mushrooms.....came with the cardboard from the mushroom box sauteed and all.
The only thing this place deserves any stars is on the Buffalo French Fries.
Went here when I was in town visiting friends and watched the Wash St game. I agree that thus is not a place if you're looking for a dining experience. It's regular pub fare, with an emphasis on its burgers, I had a chicken sandwich which was decent. This is a place to have craft beers and watch the game and it does well. Just be careful if you're watching the game and hear "yelping" it's just the deaf woman by herself at the booth, make a friend and buy her a beer
Review Source:Not to much different than the Puyallup location, again I must say the peanut butter burger is a must try, even if they don't have it on the menu. The food is always good, no matter what I order. Again, like the Puyallup location it's nothing special, but it is good and I will go back. The atmosphere in them has really improved from years ago.
Review Source:I agree with some of the reviews on here most of the food there is kinda Of blah, but in saying that I always go for a good burger there I haven't had a bad on yet. Also I never order their signature beers, I always go for their seasonal beers the snow angel this winter was great and also the pumpkin ale yummy. I can't wait for summer to come around and have the bare foot wit again. So my advice when going here go seat in the bar area order a seasonal beer and order a stadium burger with the sweet potato fries.
- Extra note I only like the Ram in the Lakewood town center area it's the original and they just make the food better and it's never really busy.
Oh the Ram.
I always forget that I don't care for you so much and accept invites to come grab a bite here.
I came here on Christmas Eve with my husband, brother-in-law and father-in-law. It was a party of 4 and we had a long day with the Seahawks game and whatnot.
I admit that I felt bad that it was X-mas Eve and we were about to sit down and eat. But our hostess rudely told us that she wanted to tell us they were closing and quite honestly, we should sit in the bar.
We opted to sit in the dining room as we didn't want to deal with the drunk crowds or loud TV's. She then had our server seat us and loudly tell her that we were her last table for the night.
We ordered our food as quickly as our server could come grab it and then waited. The food came out at a slower pace and we were conscious of trying to eat as quickly as we could. After all, we did not intend to eat out on X-mas eve but it just happened to work out that way.
My father-in-law paid the bill and we were finishing up our meals when our server came by and grabbed the bill folder and told us that basically they were closed.
It wasn't just the rude fact it was X-mas Eve and we were trying to not stay beyond our welcome but the food was mediocre and the servers made it very apparent they did not want our business or us to be there.
The Ram is pretty much on the target for what it is. Its a grill. Would I call it a microbrewery? Maybe on the downscale of what I find a 'microbrewery'. Good apps and good Ram brews.. however, I am a cider girl and they have crap Hornsby. I do like that they have a sampler of their brews. I was happy with my french dip and we shared a happy hour chips and salsa. NOTE: I had to ask for the hh discount, because even though that menu dons your restaurant table, is only available at said hh menu prices IN the bar area. OOPS.. the waitress was gracious and took off the extra $2 after we asked and she explained. Portions are huge. Know this. Share and save the extra $ for more brew samples.
Review Source:The Ram is a pretty standard beer-and-steaks joint. They also have a bar and serve seafood, sandwiches, and some DELICIOUS appetizers. My favorite pseudo-meal is an order of mozzarella sticks, a Barefoot Wit, and onion rings [being a grown-up is awesome].
They have a happy hour, but it's in the bar only and there are signs for it on all the tables in the general dining area as well. Yesterday we thought we could get happy hour rates, and were informed that they are just for the bar but were given the discount anyway. That was pretty fair.
My husband loves the pulled pork sandwich, and they also have some delicious Alaskan fish and chips. I wish they had local seafood though. I'm sure Pike Place Fish could show them what's what!
Something I really like about this place is their drinks. They have a selection of 'skinny' cocktails, 6 beers plus a seasonal beer on draught, and lots of other concoctions to try. I like the mojito and if you like your brew on the medium side, try a Buttface [however hard it might be not to giggle when you say it]. Again, being a grown-up rules.
Nice waitstaff, generic eats, yummy libations. It's alright.
Decided to stop by for some eats and to watch the Final Four, YAY UConn!!!!
Pretty surprised that the bar wasn't as crowded as the parking lot looked but that just worked in our favor in getting a good seat.
This was my second visit to this location and I enjoyed the food and service, also the drinks weren't that shabby either:)
The Ram in Lakewood will be a spot that I visit in the future.
I haven't been here in almost 2 years. Mostly because the Ram had become such a production let down. But tonight we ventured down to see what was new. The service was still mediocre at best, which was sadly to be expected. The food was ok. Our salads came at the same time as our meal, but thankfully it was happy hour so it was half price. However, I have to bump up the rating to three stars because the brewmaster in charge of the coconut porter did a fantastic job! It is smooth, rich and has so many subtle flavors that you can't help but be intrigued by it. It's delicious!
Review Source:When I first came to Tacoma I went to the Ram in Puyallup, Tacoma, and Lakewood. While going to school in Lacey, I went to the Lacey location. The food has always been ordinary and service bad at all locations. I always went because friends chose to go there and after going to the Ram I always thought it would have been better to go to McDonald's and pick some beer up to take home.
Well, recently after a 4 year hiatus from the Ram I decided to give it another shot. I heard they had a new menu and when I looked it up it seemed pretty exciting. Well, I went to the Lakewood location and they are worse than before.
Previous visits to this Ram have been less than stellar. Seemed like the place was just going through the motions. This time around, though, I was quite impressed. They added some items to the menu that looked tempting and delicious.
One of them was the Hillbilly burger and it was just that, dag nabbit. A well made burger w/lots of flavor. And the fries were cooked perfectly. The hot turkey sandwich was a little less impressive but the mashed spuds w/pepperjack cheese shined. The gravy for the sandwich was a little bland. With the white bread, stuffing, potatoes and gravy it was definitely starch overkill.
But overall, I'd say the food and service has the other Rams (2 in Puyallup, 1 on Ruston Way) beat.
Lets see....
Started off our experience by holding the door open for a couple guys coming out only to be told "thanks faggots". Â Perfect way to start your dinner.
Front receptionist couldn't figure out who was first...there was us and a father and son.
Table service wasn't all that great...one server for the whole place except the bar.
Not impressed.
The beer snob in me knows what I'm getting at a Ram. Â Mostly mediocre beer and huge calorie laden platters of not bad, but not good either, food. Â I'm O.K. with that since most Ram outlets have great sports viewing with lots of screens and the full satellite package.
But this Ram is weird. Â You walk in and the host stand is to your right and the open kitchen is to your left. Â So you can't get past the entry without walking through the kitchen. Â If it's busy, you might need to keep an eye out so you don't body check a server with a tray of food to the ground. Â
And in this one, the bar is through the kitchen and make a left and go into a "hidden" room. Â Once in there, it's the standard good sports bar feel with one massive and a bunch of smaller screens.
But the layout of this particular Ram is odd and uncomfortable.
A complete waste of time. Terrible service, and the food is lousy as well!
I haven't been in the Ram for a few years, because the last time(about 3 years ago) I was so disappointed. The service was lousy then and the food was not much better. Had been in about 4 years before that and had a "shoe leather" steak. They took it back, twice.
I had sworn not to go back there, but I caved under peer pressure. I figured it had been awhile agreed to give it a try again. I admit I was skeptical walking in, but the gang wanted to go. There was not very many customers inside, for being a Sunday. Got a booth fast, placed our orders, then waited. The appetizer order was screwed up, (came with our meals). The waitress never came to check on us until the order was ready. Food was bland, portions are fair sized but over priced IMHO. Took her forever to bring out box for one of our tables leftovers.
Ran into some friends there, and they also commented on the service(or lack of it). Quote" It seems like they just don't care." We all agreed that we will NEVER go back. AND I FOR ONE WILL NEVER GO BACK!!!
My group had the unfortunate chance to be at work on Super Bowl Sunday  at Ft Lewis (from out of town), so we all got into a car and came down to Ram's to get some brews while watching the game.  They were kind enough to put some tables for my group since they were packed at the time.
The beers: okay, not that great
The food: Not some decent, could use some work. Â This was the consensus with the entire group ordering a variety of foods.
I was excited when this location got a fresh look and expansion a couple years ago. Â Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like the improvements extended to the food and service, which I remember being way better years ago. Â When we went in recently for lunch around 2pm on a Thursday, our waitress was cheerful and actually did a great job, giving us the table we wanted under the atrium skylights and taking our orders promptly, then checking back with us throughout the meal. Â Definitely no complaints regarding the service this time around (though I think we might have been her only table). Â
But the food was lackluster. Â I ordered my old stand-by, the foccacia club sandwich, with no onions and no tomatoes (I can't tell you the number of times I've made this exact order and it comes out with one or the other or both of those toppings!). Â This time, it came out plain and simple just like I wanted - but it was COLD in the middle! Â For a hot sandwich, this just isn't tasty at all. Â They weren't busy while we were there so I feel like the cook could have taken the extra minute to get it heated through for me.
My mom had the Thai chicken lettuce wraps and enjoyed them for the most part, but she said the flavors left a lot to be desired - heavy on the salt and not much else. Â I still love an icy pint of the Ram Blonde beer and of course their mud pie, but I am sadly disappointed in the way the food has gone (downhill) since back in the day. Â If they could start serving some consistently good food (besides their burgers, which are usually excellent), I'd be coming back here more often.
Jumping on board here with my experience at this place. Â
It was heavily updated/remodeled last year and the interior looks nice. Â Unfortunately the thing that wasn't upgraded is the slow, snotty service that i've received on virtually every visit there. Â The food is generally OK but nothing special and is overpriced. Â The homebrewed beers are good but don't make it worth the visit. Â
The sister-restaurant on Ruston Way is always better service-wise.
I've never been to the Ram until last weekend. Went during the day and it didn't look busy at all but we still had to wait because the tables weren't cleaned off do they even have bussers ? cause' it looked like the hostess was clearing off the tables. Service was real slow took forever for our food too come out, and our waitress never refilled our water just walked right past us.
My friend had a coupon buy one entree get a burger free. So the burger was a complete mess it would all fall apart once I picked it up and I had to use a fork to eat my burger like really?
Located in the Lakewood Towne Plaza, Â this is a great spot to grab some food, have a beer, watch the game, and play some trivia.
Parking is in a lot, there is overload parking at the doctor's office next door.
Anyways, the food!
I had the Total Disorder Porter Prime burger, Â It was southern BBQ beef, with caramelized onions and creamy horseradish Havarti on a bun. Â Talk about yum! Â The portions were huge, service was fairly prompt, Â my drink was empty only once the entire time.
Definitely a good place to eat some casual dining style food and have a beer!
