The good:
- Bloody Mary: get it. it's the BEST. has some awesome ingredients, including pickled string beans and caper berries. perfect amount of spice and liquor, at a great price ($5 or $6)
- Mashed Potatoes: I wish the girls I went with told me just to order those. man were they amazzzzzing. too bad my stuffed eggplant ($18 or so) didn't come with any. but the entree itself was tasty as well
The bad:
- Noise: so loud it's hard to talk to each other. Also, a few of the employees constantly yell "coming through!" even when carrying nothing and with nobody in their way. it's loud, obnoxious and unnecessary.
- Service: this has to be one of the easier places to serve at. they have a tiny menu that barely every changes, and everyone orders the same thing. but our waiter was hard to find and, worst of all, didn't ask us if we wanted dessert. we didn't even ask for the check and he dumped it on the table. and guess what...we wanted dessert! super super super annoying for a not-so-cheap restaurant. if we wait an hour or more for our table, at least give us an hour to eat! the kicker was they had fixed gratuity for a group of 5, whom they squeezed at a 4-seater table. LAME
The Red Bar is an amazing local bar, be prepared to wait at least a couple of hours. Put your name in and walk across the street to the neat shops. Live music which is very nice. Bar area is standing room only. Food was average, but well done atmosphere makes up for the food in comparison to the food in the area it ranked a little above average. Parking is limited if your with friends come in one car if possible. Enjoyed and will visit any time I'll in the area.
Review Source:Our waiter, Stan was awesome. My husband loves different beers and Stan was the man to offer great beer advise!!! We both had burgers and they were great. Our daughter had a chicken sandwich which she loved. She also had a house salad with tomato and basil house dressing. I wanted a bottle of it, it was so good.
Don't miss this u unique place.
DON'T MISS THE KEY LIME PIE! They make it everyday from scratch and it's the best. Ask the proprietor about it, he's a great guy. We always include the Red Bar in our annual vacation plans. It's busy during dinner, so plan on waiting for a table. We just have a cocktail in the back bar and chill. The house band are entertaining characters to watch too. Be warned, the Red Bar only accepts cash and checks. (What's a check?) And parking on the surrounding streets can be dog-eat-dog. But it's worth it!
Review Source:I LOVE THIS BAR!
I have been going to Grayton Beach for 11 years now and I consider myself a local when I go to Red Bar. I have eaten in the dining rooms and on the patios, but I prefer to sit at the bar. The bartenders are fast and fun. They make a mean Bloody Mary, which is my daytime drink there. If that's not your flavor, I highly recommend the margarita. I am pretty sure they use all fresh ingredients.
The menu changes according to time of day and is written on chalkboards. Plan to spend more than $20 on a dinner entree, but I promise you won't be disappointed. For lunch I highly recommend the smoked tuna dip salad. OMG! Yum, yum, yum!
This place is bigger than it looks from the outside. There is usually a live band during the evenings, which can cause the front dining room to be pretty crowded during those times. In the warmer months there usually is a wait for dinner because people come from Panama City and Destin to eat at this popular destination in the small community of Grayton Beach. Put your name in with the host/hostess, grab a drink from the bar and take in the unique atmosphere inside and out. while you patiently wait. Just don't forget to bring cash. This is a cash/check only establishment. Never fear if you aren't a cash carrier like myself. There is an ATM in the back dining room just past the bar.
Like most people have mentioned on here, it is a dive-type bar with a twist. There is something for everyone here though. If you choose to hit the beach for an after dinner cocktail just ask to have your drink in a plastic cup and then go enjoy the white, sugary sand and emerald green ocean just steps away from the Red Bar. Enjoy!
Dear Santa
What I'd like for my 2013 Christmas, is to go Red, not like the direction of the country, but just like the Red Bar!
Santa I found a home, like you and Jorell live in the North Pole, I found the RedBar, it actually has locals that go there too, you know how important that is. Typically when your a foreigner like myself it shows and the far from local bartenders treat you that way. But, Santa they were nice, the Red Bar had terrific dampish qualities, and them pesky foreigners from those snow bird states, seemed to mind their manners.
Bottom line Santa, since I know your getting older and Dementia is setting in, Red Bar is a great dive spot, where you feel comfortable, and I want it If I don't get it by 2013, I show Mrs. Claus the pictures of you and the Elves, and you weren't hammering toy's!
A kooky mid-sized joint with a divey twist, Red Bar is a total institution.  Everywhere you look there's some kind of crazy statue, poster or art to have you craning your head around non-stop.  It's a crowded, electric kind of place with good food and a very effective system of business.  Yes, you will most likely have to wait, but that's because a lot of people  want to eat here.  They do manage a pretty fast turnover without actually rushing the diners, there're just more people arriving by the second.  So grab a drink at the bar then step outside and relax.
They have half a dozen or so items on the menu that cover all the basics, including vegetarian. Â On weekends they typically do crab cakes as well, and this highly-coveted meal is worth stopping in for. Â If you're looking for dessert, the bread pudding must weigh five pounds and is really tasty.
No, this is not Cheers. Â There isn't room for you to bring people in expecting to stand around throwing darts or high-fiving; there are lots of patrons and restaurant staff moving through the restaurant with drinks, food and the sense of personal space.
The Red Bar is definitely an experience. Â Come try everything on the menu, then try it again. Â Oh, and BRING CASH! Â They don't take credit cards, and the only person who still brings a check book to restaurants is my grandmother.
We had a great dinner here.  Service was great and we loved the atmosphere.  Described as a dive bar with gourmet food and I would agree.  My girlfriend had the Blackened Grouper and I had the Eggplant Parmesan  and both were awesome.  Not sure what Jillian's problem was.  Sounds like they might have been a large party.  Having worked restaurant, there is nothing worse than patrons with an attitude who won't stay out of the way.
Review Source:Horrible hospitality and a VERY rude hostess. You would think with a name like red BAR... they would have bar seating and not dine in only. While standing in the bar, the staff shuffled us around like pieces in a Tetris game so we could make way for more important DINING patrons. This was quite unfortunate as we were told about their fun and friendly atmosphere. After being TOLD to move umpteen times, we left..never to return. Period.
