Red Door Lounge

My recent visit to the Red Door with a good friend of mine was a very nice experience.

This is more tavern than restaurant but the food, while basic tavern food, is delicious.

We enjoyed iced cold tap beer while sitting out on their patio.  Our server was "Johnnie-on-the-spot" and very polite and friendly.  Sort of a surprise to me as I was expecting a surly curmudgeon.

We dined on two appetizer plates which was enough to fill us both up.  The cheese sticks were as good as most.  Soft, chewy.  The breaded steak bites are my favorite.  A little tough, but very tasty dipped in their homemade ranch dressing.  The only thing I didn't care for were the chicken wings.  I liked that they weren't breaded, but the sauce was a little overwhelming and the wings they used were frozen (black bones, dead giveaway).

I did not venture inside and did not use the bathrooms.  I used to hate this place back when they allowed smoking inside.  You simply couldn't breathe.

The patio is nice this time of year but is located on the south side of the building so it will be sweltering come summer.

This place is great. Not only do they serve the best beer in Montana in a can (the brewer doesn't keg it outside their Missoula brewery), Kettlehouse Brewering Cold Smoke Scotch Ale but they have solid bar food as well.
I slip down here every now and then for a business lunch or to get some work done over a beer with their free wi-fi and close location to my house. I typically avoid it in the evenings because the crowds are too huge.
