The Red Room

When I grew up in the Tri-Cities, and judging by whining I hear from time-to-time, I imagine it is still true, people couldn't complain loud enough about how little there was to do around town.  The Red Room is making this complaint nothing more than idle lip flapping.  Once or twice a week the Red Room is pulling in amazing acts from across the country.  The Helio Sequence, Death Vessel, Josh Ritter, Mother Mother, The Low Anthem, Cave Singers, and Blitzen Trapper are just some of the bands I've seen there for ten bucks or less, and without having to travel to Portland or Seattle.  The Red Room is making the Tri-Cities a better place to live.

The place is between a bowling ally and a furniture store, where Celebrities Casino had been before.  The main entrance is located on a sunken patio which wasn't too obvious the first time I drove through the parking lot.

I got inside just before 8 and the people working there were super friendly.  There was a $5 cover, which seemed like a steal for two live bands on a Monday night.  The first band was dialing in their gear with the sound guy when I walked in.  That went on for about half an hour as people starting showing up.  I got a good tasting 20oz iced caramel macchiato for under $4 while I waited.  They do not have blended coffee drinks (yet), or alcohol.  The place itself wasn't impressive, folding chairs a smell something like a wet carpet detracted from things a bit.  BUT Both bands were great, $5 was a steal, and I am sure I'll be back.
