Super cute, cozy, great atmosphere. excellent food, excellent service.
We were staying out here for the weeekend and a friend recomended this place to us. We enjoyed their appetizer specials: fried calamari, clams in white wine sauce plus wings. For dinner, their rib eye steaks were delicious. We really wanted to try their ribs, but they were already sold out!
The have a full bar and specialty drinks too.
I will definately be back next time we're in the area.
Very good home style cooking. We've had supper there three times ...once with a large group including children. The service has always been very good.
Recently Pepi's restaurant has taken up a temporary home inside, Â due to Hurricane Sandy. We weren't offered a separate menu ...but Barbara our server offered some specials. They all sounded good ...but we didn't try any.
My wife always orders the asparagus appetizer....always great.
Excellent Food, Excellent Service. The regular items on the menu are great, but you should definitely try the daily specials... amazing. This is great place for comfort food.. fried chicken.. pot roast... but also great for slightly on the fancy side dishes.. Italian, French, Asian... they have some really great things here.
Review Source:This is a local's favorite: reasonable prices, great bar, and very good food.  The owner,Nick, was born into the business and offers fantastic specials every night.  The happy hour is also a great deal because the wines are really good Bulgarian vintages and at $7 a glass  2 4 1, it's the best deal around.  For dinner, check the nightly specials: always a great meal.  We had the osso bucco tonight...perfect!
Review Source:We tried these entries: salmon, grouper & pot roast and we each really enjoyed our meal. I had the salmon, which came w yummy asparagus, rice & potatoes w onions. The salmon was wonderful. The potatoes and onions were also good...they just surprised me in that they were cold..but still very tasty.
We agreed w other reviewers that the atmosphere is unique, kinda eclectic, but also cozy. We all thought very highly of this place!
Ate here with my parents and their 4 friends so there were 7 of us. I got the baby back ribs which were pretty good, but my side and my mom's side of mashed potatoes came out cold so we asked for another side of them. The Long Ireland beer they have is pretty good as well.
Our bill came to something like $200 and our three families threw in whatever cash they thought they owed and we left, on the way out our waitress actually approached one of us and goes "Was my service not good enough? You guys only left me a 13% tip." Are you kidding me?? First of all the tip was shorted because one of the families we were with thought the bill already included tip (which it should have if there were 7 of us). So my dad went back over to the table and gave her another 5 bucks but that was seriously unprofessional and a perfect crappy end to an otherwise decent meal. That waitress should be fired for pulling a stunt like that. Maybe a 5% tip say something but this was the difference between 26 dollars and 30.
After a few months of seeing a sign on Sound Ave. directing us to the Red Rooster, my family and I decided to give it a try. The restaurant is in a very nice looking old house that seemed like it had been in use as a restaurant for quite some time. We were quickly seated in one of the several rooms that the Red Rooster is divided into. A few minuets after our order was taken by the courteous and professional wait staff we noticed that everyone at the table was shooing away fruit flies. It became such a nuisance that we asked if we could change tables but were told that since the fruit flies were everywhere it would not help if they moved us. The food was very mediocre. The only thing I remember having was a chopped tomato appetizer which was only memorable for the tastelessness of the tomatoes. I am not sure how this could happen within a stones throw of a dozen tomato farms in the middle of August. My children (whose palates are far from discriminating) still comment on how bad the food was every time we pass the sign on sound. Our advice: keep driving.
Review Source:The Red Rooster Bistro stands by itself on a farm road, looking like a landmark that has been around for years. Â When I went to write a review I was surprised to find out that this is a new restaurant. Â On a trip out east, my girlfriend and I drove past the Red Rooster early in the day. Â We drove past it slowly, admiring the charming appearance. Â The Red Rooster came up in conversation later and we decided to stop there for a drink on the way back home, just to check it out. Â The inside of the restaurant was as impressive as the outside; as it was covered with images of red roosters everywhere (from plates and wall hangings to sculptures). Â My girlfriend decided to order a glass of wine since we had just been at one of the wineries. When she asked the bartender for a list, the woman immediately started to tell us that she had a very good Bulgarian owned wine. She poured two small samples for her to try. After choosing one, I too decided to have a glass. Â As it turns out this place is Bulgarian owned and has some Bulgarian and Russian flare to it (hence the Bulgarian wine). Â The very friendly bartender/hostess also showed us some obscure Russian Vodka's they had. Â We were enjoying ourselves and got a second glass of wine and a portabella crab cake appetizer. Â This appetizer was just what is sounds like, a giant crabcake inside a grilled portabella mushroom. Â This was really delicious and also came with a tasty tartar sauce. Â I did not have a chance to try out many things here, but I got the feeling that whatever I ordered would have been good. Â I will stop back here if I find myself in the area again.
