One of the few bars I've been in where you can still smoke inside. They have an AWESOME vodka selection and the bartenders don't skimp on the mixed drinks.
Here's the thing, I'm not a smoker...never have been. So the smoke can be a little tough for me to deal with sometimes (I've woken up with a sore throat from it before) but I think the atmosphere is worth it.
If you can help it, don't volunteer to be the DD if you and your friends are going here. Having to miss out on the vodka selection kind of sucks.
I stepped into Rendezvous for the first time in about six years the other night. Â I used to frequent the place semi-regularly, and used to enjoy the cool vibe and the hip, jazzy music.
Well the vibe and music are still there, but the place has since transformed into a cigar bar, which is ok for those that smoke cigars, but a turn--off for the rest of us.
The place really "reeks" of cigar smoke. When I got home, had send all my clothes, including an expensive coat out to the dry cleaners to rid everything of that terrible cigar odor.
The bartender was nice enough, but the drinks were a little on the pricey side.
The smoke is the reason I won't return.
When my friends told me we were going to a cigar and martini lounge I believe my reaction was "Meh" Â Even though I love the smell of cigars and have never met a martini I didn't like, I'm not about the frou frou places.
Lucky for me, this place wasn't frou frou yet it wasn't a dive. I wasn't expecting this kind of place in downtown CO Springs and the best I can describe it is trendy without being haughty. It's not like the other places because people are actually wearing clothes and don't look like rejects from the Jersey Shore. I guess one could say more refined from the college joints down the street. The fact that I could actually hear others around me was a bonus since I hate loud bars where I have to keep going "Huh??? Whatja say??"
As others have said, they have an amazing drink list and while I was feeling the $5 glasses of wine, my friends got a few of the martinis and they were all fabulous. The grape tasted exactly like grape kool aid and when I took a sip I knew I was right to order the red because I could've sat there and drank about six or seven of those bad boys! When I'm back in the Springs I'll definitely be hitting up this place again.
I really like this place. Â There is a ton of variety in alcohol choices, plus they're one of the few places in town that allow smoking while you drink. Â We're not huge smokers, but it's nice to be able to have a cigar or clove cigar while you're having a drink. Â Staff was nice and treated us well.
Review Source:A dark, trendy lounge with a spectacular drink menu that has the unfortunate saddle of playing too much European house (techno? trance? dubstep? I can't tell the goddamn difference) music for my taste. Despite that hang-up, I definitely go and keep going back.
The drinks are definitely my main draw; there is an extensive selection of different flavored mojitos served with raw sugar cane, and this is also one of the few local places I've found where I can get a decent caipirinha. For those who have never had it, they also do a good job of making a decent absinthe drink - pouring it over the sugar cube and lighting it on fire for you.
There also is, what I am told, a decent cigar selection. I don't smoke, so it's no draw to me, but several of my friends have remarked about how nice it is to be able to smoke them in the bar. This, of course, means that the bar can become pretty smoky some nights, and your hair and our clothes may end up smelling like booze and cigarettes. If smelling like my mother did when she tucked me in at night is no issue for you, then there is no reason that you shouldn't come in here.
Came here for the very first time for boyfriend's bday. He smokes cigar and I like to drink so it was the perfect place:) From what I remember, they have good drinks.. and they have this $115 whiskey shot. I didn't try it, but I still thought it was pretty cool that they have it. The bartenders were nice.. and I liked the ambience
Review Source:A smoking bar, as noted, it's one of the few places a person can enjoy a cig or a cigar with a cocktail during the cold winter months, so yes, it's going to be a little smokey.
That aside, the ambiance doesn't really float my boat too much but the staff is great. Â I'm not a fan of the very Euro-feel with all the metal decor, loud house music & brighter lighting (for a bar, anyway), but I still end up going there on the weekends.
It is one of the more pricey places to drink and, although I prefer 15C to this martini lounge, it works.
I wouldn't bother coming to this place unless you are friendly with the staff. Â
The bar stools are nearly impossible to sit on. Â Your bar tab often includes drinks you didn't order. Â You will choke on cigarette smoke. Â I've also heard from several people that they poor cheap vodka in the top shelf bottles. Â This could be a rumor though. Â I'm typically drunk when I end up there. Â
It's not all bad though. Â The ladies bathroom has a poster of different way's to use the f word.
FYI- You can smoke in this bar! Not a good reason to give it a bad review, but if it's not your thing- leave but don't hold it against them!
My in-laws really like this place. I think it has nice character for being in the springs, and for being surrounded by Cowboys, Rum Bay, and all the other horrific places around, I'm glad there's somewhere halfway decent. Even though it's a vodka/cigar bar, they have mojitos in pretty much every flavor as the "house" (ie cheapest) drink. They're pretty good- come with nice pieces of sugar cane and are about $7 but pack a pretty nice punch without tasting like acetone.
I like their impressive vodka display and the Eastern-European humor. They also have a nice top-shelf selection. That being said, they have very little that's affordable besides draft beer and aforementioned mojitos.
If, though, you're a smoker, this is definitely a good place. I'm not but I've never found it annoying to be here with smoking around me. If smoking appeals to you, they are constantly running a "special" for a Romeo y Julieta cigar + mojito for $10 which is a good deal.
Nah...this place is over priced and wierd. Â I've tried it several times and just never found a good crowd or good service. Â The seating is uncomfortable, felt like I was sitting on the floor. Â Ok, one good thing...they put sugar cane in their mojitos. Â That was a plus, but mostly the place was a minus.
Review Source:Ah, where to begin for a review of this place...
In the desert of Downtown Colorado Springs, where the majority of your choices for a night out include dance club/meat markets packed with sweaty hoochies and sagging soldiers, or one of a million sports pubs, or the ever-popular dive bar, the Rendezvous Lounge is a spectacularly well-run, eye-poppingly decorated chill-out spot that serves as the future landmark oasis of the downtown drink scene.
First off, there's the music. Electronic lounge and chilled house, things you might hear on Groove Salad, Soma FM, a Sven Van Hees album, or Thievery Corporation are the standards in here. The music builds the atmosphere from the ground up, and the construction and design inside, including huge martini-shaped wall cutouts featuring choice bottles, help to advance the swanky feel.
Then, the drinks. The extensive menu will give you enough drink selections to keep you happy for years. Tons of specialized, custom drinks only available at Rendezvous, plus AMAZING mojitos and caipirinhas, and OH the vodka! The vodka, the vodka...
The staff is curt but courteous. All dressed in sleek black slacks, buttoned shirts or short skirts, both the male and female members are eye candy as well as being attentive. Besides boasting the largest selection of vodkas in Colorado (see the glass shelving in the back), they also provide a humidor with high-end cigars for sale, as this is one of the only places in town you can still puff on a stogie indoors.
Finally, the furniture. Rather than the usual chairs and cocktail tables (though they do have those), Rendezvous offers a bunch of sleek, comfortable sofas, chaises and lounge chairs that can be freely moved around to create the perfect seating arrangement for any group.
If you live in Colorado Springs, you owe it to yourself to check this place out and make it one of your standard go-to joints for a few drinks and some great conversation. If you go early, you'll have the place to yourself. If you go late, it's standing room only. Either way, Rendezvous delivers on its promise of providing "a brilliant reflection of elegance, in a contemporary lounge atmosphere."
Open 7 days a week at 4 pm sharp / closing around 2 am.
Great place to start a night in downtown COS. They don't go light on the sauce and the drinks are good. A wide variety of drinks on an extensive menu adds to it's appeal. They don't blast loud music and they have TVs on with popular movies or sporting events. I recommended Rendezvous to start your evening downtown.
Review Source:The Rendezvous Lounge is another bar along the bar strip, but is far enough North to avoid hell.
Like the V Bar, the Rendezvous Lounge is going for the upper-scale, Â low-lighting, hardcore tented windows, intrigue feel, which it does fairly well. What sets this place apart is its superior location, less people, and cheaper booze.
If the upper-end lounge is the place to be, well then this one is the best I've been to in the Beach that fits.
