I'm not sure this place has the best Mexican food in Brigham city but it's not bad Mexican. Â The layout of the place is pretty good but they probably need to greet people better. Â When you walk in you aren't sure what to do. Â They don't seat you and after wandering around they yell from that back that you can sit down. Â It's not just me who felt weird...everyone who came in had the same experience and it was funny. Â By the end we all were watching people come in and then walk around like a zombie wondering where to sit. They smother your food with sauce so if you like that then come here.
Review Source:We just happened to be in Brigham City at dinner time and based on the glowing reviews, we decided to give Ricardo's a try. Â My wife and I along with three of our teenage sons arrived just before 6pm on a Friday night. Â There was plenty of seating but most of it was reserved. Â They asked us if we had a reservation. Â This isn't the kind of place I would have expected to need a reservation and I don't think you do. Â Two of the wait staff were very friendly and tried to find a place for us to sit. Â However, there was one lady that seemed almost offended that we had the gall to show up and want to eat. Â I was so taken back by her surly demeanor that I almost turned around and left. Â However, with so many 5 star reviews, how could we leave? Â I thought to myself, the food must be fantastic!
They found us a place to sit that was at this bench that looked like the bench, small tables and swinging chairs came out of a fast food joint. Â It was not comfortable or conducive to good conversation. Â Â Side note. Â None of the "reserved" tables (over half the tables) were ever occupied while we were there. Â I'm not sure who they were waiting for. Â The president?
During our entire meal the surly waitress, who shall remain nameless, stormed around, was too loud and was very distracting. Â She was the topic of conversation for the entire meal. Â We decided that she must be having a bad day. Â Fortunately, she was not our server. Â Our server was excellent, very attentive, and unobtrusive. Â
The decor was nicely done. Â For a small place, they did very well. Â Other than our seating area, the rest of the booths and tables were nothing fancy, but looked comfortable. Â Â The restrooms are in the back. Â They were clean and well stocked. Â
Food: Â The service was very quick. Â The chips and salsa (one basket only, then you pay extra for more) were average. Â For five stars I would expect unlimited warm chips with plenty of salsa. Â The salsa ran out way before the chips did. Â The food was hot, the plates were warmed, and everyone got what they ordered. Â Â Our main course was standard Mexican fare. Â It was tasty and well presented. Â Everyone in our group enjoyed their meal and thought the food was just fine. Â If I hadn't seen so many five star reviews for this place, I think Ricardo's would have exceeded my expectations for the food, but I have to admit I was looking for WOW! and I got something that was just like most every other non-chain family owned Mexican restaurant. Â Don't get me wrong, it was very good, just not outstanding. Â
Price: We all just had water and one entree each, with no desert. Â The total bill before tip was $47. Â
I have to admit, I really had high hopes for this place. Â In my mind they didn't live up to the promise of the other 5 star reviewers. Â We decided that most of the other reviewers must be either family members or close friends of the owner. Â It is certainly not the best Mexican food in Utah. Â It was very good overall and I would recommend that you give it a try.
Ricardo's is the best Mexican restaurant in town! It is a family run business and you could not find for a kinder family to serve you. Their hearts are in the right place. They greet you with a smile and are so kind to fill orders of ANY size. You might have to wait a bit for our food but you know that it is freshly cooked-yummmmmy. Thank you Ricardo's!
Review Source:It has been a few months since i was here and i have missed it so! Â They have remodeled the place! Â I like the new theme, it is as if you are eating on small street in mexico with the little shops surrounding you. Â I had the large beef burrito with chicken taco, and i was not dissapointed. Â As usual this place is still serving great food.
Review Source:Best Mexican restaraunt I know of in Utah. Â They started out in a gas station in Perry and were so popular they moved to a full sized restaraunt in downtown Brigham. Â They still get very crowded on weekends.
Best taco's I've had. Â Also they have amazing carne'd sada (however you spell it, mexican steak) on Fridays and Saturdays.
They make fried ice-cream and great carrot cake but I never have room for desert.
Staff is great. Â They'll learn your names if you go once or twice. Â The guy who runs the place I don't think is actually mexican but authenticity is hard to find in Utah, and the food is better and not a big jump from many of the Mexican restaunts in the area.
Excellent salsa- even tho' it's made from canned diced tomatoes. The ambiance is fairly imaginative and the menu has the standard fare, but great attention is given (apparently) to the authentic flavors.
I would go again, presuming a 900 mile drive was not necessary. I believe they are celebrating their 18th (?) anniversary in Brigham City.
Funny waitress (not ours) knew everyone and everything about anything going on in and around Brigham since '62. Pretty funny side note.
Chicken taco was meh...everything else was very, very good!
I was skeptical, what you say Mexican in small town Utah?...what, you say its good???
I only had their tacos, they are good. Â Really good, second best taco's I have had (the best were in Brawley, CA @ Nana Dora's). Â I was impressed that a small town would have such good food. Â The decor is average, service is average. Â And like all small towns, the girl I was with knew every table in there...yeah...they though I was her husband...don't expect less in Utah...
