This place is below average at best. The pizza is not good at all, they reheat pizza that has been sitting for a long time and its way too bready with a tiny layer of cheese on top.  The only good thing about this place is the Breaded Steak Sandwich and sometimes its better than others.  I like that it is open late but the drive thru experience can frustrating because they have an OLD speaker that works half the time.

Went there for the first time today. This place has a 50's diner vibe and classic rock playing which I loved. The fries were amazing and the handmade shakes with chunks of real strawberries was great. The breaded steak that they are known for are really good as well. I highly recommend this place.

Food is good but very overpriced. They also take long to prepare food so be prepared to wait. The chilli cheese dogs are the best in the southside.

After helping someone move, my sister introduced me to Ricobene's, via this location just south of S. Archer and S. Pulaski, on the west side of the street.

Wow! Late night on a Sunday, I was impressed. The restaurant looks like a very large 1950s diner, and the menu has pizza, but also some great Italian favs. I ordered the Chicken Parmigiana and it came--the manager brought it to our table on this slow night!--with a side of spaghetti and red sauce, along with the requisite(warm)  garlic bread. The lemonade was a perfect compliment for my meal, and as I packed up half of the meal to go home (huge portion!), I watched my sister enjoy a lemon ice at the end of her equally-delicious meal.

I've heard this is the best of the chain of four restaurants, and I can believe it. Good '50s service, great menu, delicious food: I'll be going back whenever I'm in the neighborhood.

always a hit ot miss at Ricos

Been a customer since high school (curie) circa 93. Back then I would get pan suasage or pepperoni. it was good!! tried the hamburger which they have improved now....

Now a days the pizza is a hit or miss.At times you can get it very delicous or just plain ok.......The chicken wings with the sauce are really good. Breaded steak sandwich as well until the other day. I got the sandwich to go......once i got home was a bit cold and not so tasting as before.....Could have been that it was cold or the recipe for the sauce for the day.

Hope they can revive this place.

The fries are delicious! The chicken sandwich -a bit on the dry side but decent.  The service:  chill and swift -just the way I like it.

Stop in and enjoy a favorite of many in a setting that is a blast from the past.

They are the reason I gained weight!

But Iove the Rigobene's steak sandwich with extra sweet peppers! The original on 26th street in Bridgeport is actually one of my all time favorite hang outs back in the day, but now since I do live near the one on Pulaski, I just go there. It still has its retro 60's or 70's look, but the food is the same. I love the steak sandwiches and I really like their giant sized greasy fries, althouhg they will clog your arteries, they are the best.

Drive thru is fast and once in a big while I do go inside for a spell, but drive thru is quick and painless. I NEVER have more than 2 minute wait, but your time may be differnt due ot time.

Their thin slice Pizza is pretty good as well!

My boyfriend and I happened to be in the neighborhood and were starving, we saw Ricobene's. Being familiar with the 26th street location we figured we couldn't go wrong in choosing to eat here. Boy did we make a mistake.   Does the owner of the original Ricobene's know his namesake is being tainted???  I was so disappointed after going to this location and expecting the same quality of food (I love the Ricobene's on 26th street), what I got was probably one of the worst meals I have had in a while.  While the girls at both the order counter and food delivery counter were nice, when the food sucks, the review is going to be bad.

My boyfriend and I both ordered burgers (yes, I know burgers), but we've had burgers, hot dogs, and other non-italian items at the other location and have always been very happy with our food.  We also had onion rings, fries and my boyfriend also ordered vesuvio potatoes.  What we got was bland oily potatoes (both kinds), bland oily onion rings, and burned, dry thin nasty looking meat patties on oversized buns, also bland.  Out of desperation I put some onion rings on the burger hoping it would help, but I couldn't even taste them.

I will NEVER go to this location again.  It's rare for me to go somewhere order several things and not ONE thing taste good.   I hope that people who have never tried Ricobene's don't base their original opinion on this location and please go to the 26th street location because that is where the magic happens!

Hadn't been to a Ricobene's in quite awhile.  The sandwiches and fries were just as I remembered them!  Sweet peppers, sauce, and cheese on a breaded steak.  Yum.  The service at the counter was pretty terrible though...

They have a dollar menu....how cool ios that? And while the garlic bread wasn't amazing and the mostacolli wan't super meaty and yummy, the pizza did have the best crust ever...so you win points there. I like this place...it's definitely not a destination, but a nice little casual place to stop in for cheap food and enjoy times with friends...on a budget.

Loved the crust of the pan(?) pizza! Vesuvio potatoes were super yummy too! Slighty missing something but dipped in a wee bit of ketchup it was complete for me. We dined it but it seems as though people may prefer to carry out despite the huge dining area. Very retro inside.

When dealing with  multi units consistency is everything.

On 26th street a breaded steak sandwich is a thing of beauty,  crispy,  well seasoned and tasting like ,  well steak.  It had been a while since tasting the thing of legend,  a friend asked,  "where can we get a breaded steak sandwich."  Normally my answer is,  " lets get a torta Milanese".  This time I saw a Ricobene's,  the restaurant,  that as far as I know created the Chicago breaded steak sandwich reputation,  I don't know if they invented it,  but I am pretty damn sure they marketed their restaurants success on that sandwich.

The disappointment began the second we arrived,  dirty with a capital irty.  looking at the menu I could here the sounds of disorganization emanating from the kitchen,  questions being shouted,  no answers given.  Something being slammed,  my bad experience feelers were beginning to twitch.  We both ordered the famous sandwich,  with cheese and marinara.  After a wait of 10 minutes our sandwiches arrived.

The sauce was cold,  this happens when no one stirs the pot,  if this happens too frequently you can be at risk for a mild case of puking and shitting.  The breading was mushy on the bottom and dry on the top.  Fucking leftovers,  are you kidding me.  The fries,  cold,  unsalted and bland.

I will never go back,  too many good tortas in the hood to take a risk on this dump.

I fear they have abandoned any standards they once had.  Maybe the high schoolers across the street feel this is a step up from the cafeteria,  I am not convinced.

I am not keen on "hole in the wall" places...so, I would not have selected this place on my own. I mean, when you go to the bathroom, you shouldn't have to cringe at the icky-ness of it all!

Anyway,  I have some friends who are keen on dining adventures, and they swore the fries and breaded steak were out of this world.  Since another selection was fabulous, I decided to give this place a try.

I was not at all impressed!  My breaded steak was tough.  Oh, not "it isn't as good as one would expect tough", but it extremely tough and incredibly dry.  I couldn't cut it with the plastic knife I was given.

The fries were just "ok".   In short, my friends have come up with some wonderful finds...this wasn't one of them!

P.S.  We usually do these places because they are cheap.  At about $11 for a sandwich, fries and a beverage...I would not call this place cheap.  Esp since the sandwich was not edible, the service was incredibly slow and the restaurant was only marginally clean.

    At any rate,

So I think i come to this place maybe once or twice a year. I have friend who lives down the street so when I'm down there I like to go here. There people who work there are okay. I wouldn't call it rotten or even bad, it's just service.

Alright so when I go here I usually get the breaded steak, which is always good, and fries are good as well. I tried the pizza slice the other day and I wasn't impressed. It tasted like it came out of the freezer section. So if you are going to check this place out get a shake an order of fries and the breaded steak.

I"m gonna be honest, I have not been to this place in years. However I have fond memories of it even though it coincides with high school (yea i went to THAT one a block away).

If the steak sandwich and fries are still as good then anyone who stops by this area need to try this place. Don't expect much in customer service, i wouldn't be surprised if they're still hiring adolescents with attitude problems but hey who cares, its not like this area or the city itself is known for hospitable people.

Predictably as good as the location on 26th, nearby Chinatown.  Great steak sandwiches, fresh cut fries, and good pizzas.
Service at this location is a tad bit better that the 26th location, but not much better as apathetic teens assist you for your order - you wonder if you are ever going to get your order or a free add-on of someone's spittle.
Its a smaller restaurant than the 26th place, but still a nice, clean place to eat in.

Damn.  I never thought I'd be the first to review a place at Archer and Pulaski.  What has my life come to?  I'm not even a Sox fan!!

Alas, I stopped in here on a day of city-exploring because I've heard/seen the name before.  Since I'm stuck out at O'Hare for work, I don't have a chance to partake in Loop lunch places, which is probably where I've seen this place.  Entering by car is really confusing and the parking lot is a hellhole.

The place was clean and the booths were sweet, they look like they're the original sparkly vinyl.  I thought it pretty weird that I had to be buzzed into the bathroom.  The bathroom was absolutely disgusting, and that's saying a lot since I've seen some revolting bathrooms.

The service, however, was almost more rotten.  The girls that work here need to buy a personality.  The food was decent; although the hot dog wasn't a total "Chicago dog", it was good.  The fries were great.

I'd say if you live on the SW side and you're in the mood for a good ol-fashioned shake, dog, burger, fries, pizza, Italian beef, etc. then check this place out.   Bottom line, the Galaga machines and the dank fries earn this dismal place an extra star.
