WooHoo! As good as it gets!  Not exactly through who, but they recently won the best burger award in OC and it's well deserved.  They attempt to make everything in house from  every meat patty that they grind themselves to all sauces being served, yes, even ketchup!  This is one burger that you build to your liking where you can taste the Quality in every single ingredient!  Make the drive down to South OC, enjoy the beautiful sunny Socal day and have an amazing Burger.
Review Source:Stop reading this review, drop what ever you are doing and get your arse over to Riders Club pronto! Not enough superlatives to describe the out-of-this-world burgers and craft beers at this cozy gastropub in San Clemente. You wouldn't expect San Clemente to house one of the best burger joints around, but it's true, and they do. They invest in quality meats, produce and beverages You can taste the quality in each bite of your burger and know that the beef you just inhaled came from a good place...maybe straight from heaven. I love that they serve homemade potato chips with homemade ketchup instead of the usual side of French Fries.Oddly enough, the burger and beer taste better with the potato chips! Their limited menu is due to the fact that they deeply care about quality and do not want to expand the menu for the sake of expanding it. It's all about quality here which I appreciate, and so will you.
Riders Club, keep fighting the good fight and keep doing what you do. Thank you!
Just amazing. San Clemente has great restaurants, but there's something about Rider's Club that makes it the most absolute favorite restaurant of all time for my hubby and I. The owners are Fantastic - friendly and very talented. Staff is always friendly, usually hook it up with a free taste of beer if you're trying to decide which to get, which is SO nice! Cooks are always super busy and hardworking. All the food is fresh and out of this world good - best hamburger, best portabello burger, best pickled beets, best relish on the hotdogs, best beer on tap, best happy hour, unassuming but still enjoyable atmosphere, kid and adult friendly - ahhh, i could on and on. We are super lucky that Riders Club chose to be in San Clemente!
Review Source:I would really give this joint more like 4.5 stars. The reviews and rating speak for themselves. If you are searching for a burger joint in San Clemente, or even just a really good meal, your search can stop here. I cant go a full 5 stars because their only option as a side is chips. They are homemade chips, but a burger joint should really have other options. Fries and onions rings come to mind. Although in my opinion, an argument could be made that although they lack side options, they make up for it with a unique draft beer selection. Ok 5 stars it is!
Also of note is the lack of solid ventilation that creates a smoky burger smell that will permeate anything you are wearing and coat you with a greasy cheesy aroma for the rest of the day. I on one hand think it's genius because it leaves me drooling over the thought of burgers for as long as I am wearing those clothes; however, it is a topic of contention with my wife, which forces me to beg that we eat here if ever we go out together, which is a lot. Suffice to say I go here solo more times than not.
Lastly, I am pretty sure they put some form of addictive drugs in their food. Possibly crack cocaine.
Nothing like a little local hole in the wall to find really great food and funky atmosphere. Â This is one of the best hamburger joints you will find- assuming you can find it. You need to keep your eyes open and hunt for decent parking on the side street. Â Worth the effort. Before you end up at some fast food place, treat yourself to a real fresh, home cooked hamburger.
Review Source:I've been to Rider's Club in San Clemente many times since they have opened and have had many great experiences there enjoying their wonderful burgers. But recently I went to grab a burger with some coworkers for lunch to finish off a busy work week. Typically I don't write reviews unless the experience was exceptionally good or exceptionally bad. For this one occasion, it was the later.
The burger: Always five star rating quality. Cooked the way you like with all the fixings you'd like. Though the burger can easily top over $10, it is well worth it.
The service: Never had a problem until this most recent visit. I ordered an ice tea and didn't get it at the counter. Not a problem, I thought they'd serve it to me when I get my burger. Unfortunately this did not happen and when I mentioned it to the server, I got a blatantly snippy response. Thinking that the server would obtain my beverage I waited. Never got it sometime later and I went in to get it after I got impatient. This typically wouldn't be a problem for me, but the server appeared to be having a bad day and unfortunately passing on this unfriendly service to the customer. Leaving a sour taste in my mouth.
Overall: Always great burgers, rarely bad service. I would definitely go again but only if this one particular individual is not there. For a burger half the price at Carls' Jr. I can get twice the service. Sad, but true. But eh, it's a beach town with surfer bums. What do you expect?
I had my first OMG burger moment at this little hole in the wall. Â This place is "da bomb!" Â In the past I have praised various other restaurants for having a good burger but they all pale in comparison. Â This place by far has the best burger San Clemente and Dana Point. Â Even the bun is awesome! Â Your burger is totally customizable and they even offer something for vegetarians to select from...my friend was ecstatic about this offering. Â They also have an incredible beer selection to choose from. Â If you are in the mood for exceptional burgers and beer then check this place out. Â No fries are available, the chips are just okay and this place is kinda pricy.
Review Source:This small location is definitely worth trying. It was my first time here and I felt like wanted add all the ingredients in my burger. I was able to contain myself and ordered the natural beef with avocado, fried egg, lettuce , tomato, and Munster cheese. It was cooked to perfection. I love the hamburger bun it was the kind that I thought every burger ever made should use that kind of bun. I was able to tell the meat quality was great because of the consistency of patty. It was not as juicy as I would like it to be but then again i got it medium well. This place only had chips which I don't mind because the chip was delicious. Also if they did have fries I think it would have been too heavy of a meal. I would definitely be coming back here again to try the different patties like quinoa and turkey. Yummm!
Small parking area and limited seats.
I like hamburgers. A lot. I consider myself to have high standards for my burgers as well. If you're looking for a gourmet style burger, this is the place. While the menu isn't massive, you can get plenty of variety with just a few substitutions. All the ingredients are of the highest quality and the beer selection is great. I would easily rate Rider's Club over The Counter or Crow Bar/Burger. If I could eat here everyday I would.
Review Source:Here's the quick and dirty on this burger joint.
The place is very casual. The indoor seating area is pretty small. There is an outdoor patio with more tables, but you're somewhat exposed to the elements. There isn't much climate control, if any, so if it's cold out bring a jacket. On a busy weekend night, you may get stuck foraging for a table outside.
You line up and order at the counter with a menu off of a chalk board. The burgers are very good. Tasty, but not huge. Add-ons for your burger, such as cheese, 'shrooms etc., cost a dollar extra. Add a couple of things and you're looking at a $10 burger. Each burger comes with chips, gratis. There are about 8 beers on tap. Service is generally pretty fast. Overall, it's a no frills casual operation with tasty burgers, hot dogs and a respectable selection of beer.
It was decided last evening that dinner had to be burgers and when we make that decision, they must be good.
Riders Club Cafe has to be the worst name for a restaurant I can remember, it conjures up images of leather clad burly men with many tattoos swilling beer whilst their Harleys wait patiently outside....their web site gives you the impression the restaurant is rather modern and cosmopolitan, the truth is somewhere in the middle of both.
Riders is tiny. There is seating for about twenty inside and perhaps another fifteen or so on their patio. Parking is almost nonexistent. Walking into the low-ceiling'd restaurant, you are immediately confronted by the order station and the grill, both are close to the front door.
Choosing is simple, beef, chicken, veggie or portabello burgers are served with house sauce, lettuce, pickle and your choice of raw or grilled onion. There is a carnitas sandwich and hot dogs are available too. You then add your choice of cheese for another buck. All offerings are served in a basket with hearty ripple potato chips.
I didn't see any printed menus, everything is on a chalkboard by the order station.
We ordered one burger without cheese, one with swiss cheese and grilled onions and a third with blue cheese. Burgers are cooked to order and come out in just a few minutes. There are several soft drinks to choose from and many beer choices, both draught and bottled.
My daughter was disappointed that no tomato slices are available and she didn't think much of the leafy green lettuce which she pulled out, but she did appear to enjoy her burger nonetheless.
My wife said there was "way too much" grilled onions placed upon hers, didn't think the swiss cheese worked and she wished she had ordered hers with avocado.
My burger with blue cheese was outstanding, very flavorful. I highly recommend that choice.
We all would prefer fries rather than potato chips, this place just cries out for some variety of hand cut fries with the skins left on.
Three burgers, two with cheese, two sodas and one draught beer came to $38., a bit pricey but very enjoyable nonetheless.
We will likely return, but, to be honest, the burgers at Biggie's about 2 miles south on the same street are very hard to beat and the tab is 35% less, albeit without a beer option, but they do have french fries!
I love Riders Club. My Husband loves their beer on tap....I love my havarti bacon cheese burger with sauce. I wish I had fries instead of chips. I wish I can get the happy hour hot dog with nothing on it but the owner refuses to do substitutions....I will still come here whenever we can, but you do leave here bloated and in a food coma. They have real Coca Cola here. Not high fructose corn syrup, but real glass cola bottles. Yum. :)
Review Source:Um, how many times did I have to drive by this place to realize it is the best burger EVER. I actually thought it was some type of biker place(motorcycle or otherwise) but clearly found out I was wrong. Get here early especially during summer as line out door can be long. Small inside and outside dining area. Tiny parking lot a challenge for anything larger than a Mini Cooper. I had to back out my SUV. Order the burger medium with bacon, cheese, egg, pickles, etc. It's the egg I tell you. Ask for beets as well. Comes with chips. Nice selection of craft beer. Be careful adding toppings on such as bacon, egg, etc because it can really add up. Go home and take a shower afterwards....
Review Source:Don't be fooled by the nondescript exterior, this place may look like a shack, but the burgers are great!
I went with the cashiers recommendation on toppings for my burger: avocado, havarti cheese, and grilled onions. Yum.
Burgers come with potato chips, which were fine although I'd rather have fries. They also had a great selection of interesting beers on tap.
My only gripe with this place was that it's a bit pricey. You pay something like $1 for each topping on the burger, so it adds up quick. But, I'm willing to pay a bit more for a quality burger as an occasional treat, so no biggie.
Great burger joint, very small with limited seating inside and a kind of wrap around patio outside. Â Burgers are very different, but in a good way! You will not find a fatburger, or In & Out type burger here! Â All burgers come with chips, also good!
Only downside to this place is the very small parking lot, even looks like their building has taken numerous hits from cars leaving!
Try it, you will not be disapointed!
Craving a burger so I consulted Yelp and being that I didn't want to travel too far, The Riders Club Cafe magically appeared!
After reading all the reviews about, "the best burger ever", of course I had to try it! Â I wasn't sure what to expect, so we drove to San Clem and actually drove right past the small hole in the wall. Â It almost resembles a drive-thru! Â Turned around and parked in their small parking lot (approx. 7 spots total). Â We arrived shortly after 11am on Sat. and there was already a small line.
The menu is written on their board and it's very simple. Â Basically you order a burger and add your toppings for an extra $1 per topping. The beer list wasn't as extensive as I had thought, but I ordered a hef and was happy enough.
I ordered a burger medium rare with bleu cheese and sauteed mushrooms. Â They asked if I wanted my onions sauteed or raw and I thought "raw" meant no onions, so I said, "raw". Â LOL. Â No, raw meant RAW onions. Â No biggie, however when I got my burger, it looked pretty wimpy. Â I opened it up and didn't see any cheese, so I took it back to the cook and he said, "it's there, but do you want me to add some more?" Â Hmm.
I finally bit into the burger, and it was OK. Â Honestly, nothing to write home about. Â I've had a better bleu cheese & mushroom burger at The Counter, where the cheese was actually present and obvious. Â
The burgers came with chips instead of fries, which was again... OK. Â Nothing special, nothing to write home about.
The service was average all around. Â There was a semi-long line and one girl taking the orders and ringing the register, with two cooks flipping the burgers (one of which didn't seem to want to be there).
The overall food and experience was just OK overall. Â If I were craving a burger, this wouldn't be my first choice, or even my fifth. Â There are so many good burger joints out there, that this place is just average, however if you live in the area and don't want to drive far, this would do the trick.

I was here last week...
Burgers are phenomenal and I've been to Crow Bar, Side Door, Slaters 50/50, The Counter etc. Riders is right up there with them. Not for variety of ingredients, though there are many choices, but for quality of the meat and buns.
It's that fresh that you can grub it without cooking. To top it off he's got a great beer selection, up to 8 on tap, with various styles from my favorite brewers like Green Flash, North Coast, Stone, Ommegang etc.
Its like going to a gourmet In n Out. The menu is limited but with burgers this good, what else do you need. Hot dog was good too and I will be back soon for the Carnitas.
Read their reviews on Yelp, came here for their Carnitas sandwich and was not disappointed. The carnitas sandwich comes with: shredded pork topped with carrot slaw, cilantro, house spread & jalapeños.
The shredded pork is tender, juicy and cooked to perfection. Paired perfectly with the crunch carrot slaw and jalapenos. Topped off with their delicious house spread.
The place can get busy around lunch time. By the time we got our sandwich it was a little soggy due to the house spread, which made it harder to eat because the bun fell apart, but was still delicious.
I would highly recommend this place if you're in the area!
Wow, amazing burgers. They even ask how we want our meat cooked and I said medium rare. It actually came out perfectly cooked, medium rare. I love the brioche bun, fresh and fluffy. The burgers are served with house sauce that's similar to thousand island dressing, and the usual toppings except tomatoes. There's also great selection of beers on tap. I thought their burger was better than Slater 50/50.
The only downside is this place is tiny, only a few tables and they're always packed. Parking is also challenging, mostly street parking.
If you are going to be traveling through San Clemente anytime soon or ever, do yourself a solid, take Pico Ave go to the beach till it dead ends and make that left onto N. el Camino Real and look left to see The Riders Club Cafe. Â It is the BEST Â burger I have ever had! Â (I am pitting this against my firm enjoyment of 50/50 Slater Burger and Burger Lounge) Â I coundn't believe how fantastic our burgers were. Â
I think this will have to be a constant stop heading North to L.A./O.C. or returning home to beautiful San Diego. Â Either way, I am doing myself a solid and getting a burger in San Clemente!
Congratulations San Clemente, you guys have a real champ. It's a small shack that serves up real good gourmet burgers.
The burgers get a bit messy, but tasted great. The grilled onions along with the patty being prepared medium, probably contributed to the messy factor. Will probably pass on the grilled onions next time. Not because they were bad, but because they were too good and flavorful. That however took away from the very well seasoned, delicious meat patty.
This spot is not a restaurant. It's super casual, so need to rock your fancy pants swag. Order at the counter and they'll bring  the food to the table. There's a few tables inside and outside, it can be cramped.
Anyhow, we enjoyed it.
Many Yelp reviews documenting the great burgers. Â I have eaten here many times and enjoy the food and the ever changing beer on tap selection. Â All good so far.
Two nights ago I went in and wow it needs a cleaning. Â Gross floors, sticky tables, cashiers handling money then food, patio area dirty and worse of all, the food preparation area is really starting to get gross.
I had a hard time gagging down my burger in this environment. Â The owner needs to spend some money, time and effort in making this place just a little more clean. Â I get the dive burger place thing, but come on.
A quick wipe down does not cut it with so many people coming through the door. Â If it is this gross and sticky where we can see it, I shudder at the thought of the condition of the area that we can't
The cleanliness, or lack of such will bring this joint down. Â Nice run while it lasted
My husband brought me here while vacationing, he swore it was the best burger he has ever eaten. I agree. The meat was so juice, the bun was buttered and delicious, and the sauce was yummy.
The beach is across the street so it's a great spot for lunch and then beach play. I will eat here anytime im in the neighborhood.
Best Burger Ever...
Not someone else trying to copy in and out but a quality meat and quality toping burger.
Perfect beers to go with a perfect burger
Love the pickled beets
Some fries would be nice but I can't complain too much about it with the beets and chips.
If my girlfriend would let me go here every night I would...
