We ate at the North location for the first time last night. Â We both got the "mini" of their signature Italian Salad (it may be a "mini" but it was generously sized) and we both liked it a lot. Â Lots of toppings, and good Italian dressing. Â We spilt a Garden Pizza and we both thought it was excellent - nice thin homemade crust, lots of toppings, good quality cheese. Â Service started off a little slow but ended up being very good and our waiter was very helpful in giving us directions to the next place we were headed to in Evansville, also he had a nice chat with my husband about some of the old stadiums and sports arenas in Evansville. Â We were very pleased and we'll be back!
Review Source:Roca Bar is a staple in Evansville. The original location on used car lane, on the less than desirable south side, has dished out some of the best pizzas for years. When they sold their recipes and rights to the Roca Bar name, new locations have opened up. This location on the far north side is a perfect spot for a restaurant and bar (minimal direct competition). My Dad, who frequents this place, raved about how great the service, and quality of food is here. My rebuttal, "I'll be the Judge of that!"
To Dad's credit, he was indeed correct. We were immediately greeted, and a bucket of beers were soon at our table. The location itself is very clean, modern, and appropriately staffed. The food, just like the original location, is excellent. Great, thin crust pizza, with amazing sauce. Oh, the salads. Yes, the Italian salads are probably the best salads I've ever tasted. Healthy. Probabaly not, but they taste pretty damn good.
Good food, reasonable prices, and awesome service. Polite service at that! Decent, above average beer, and liquor selection, make this place a winner. Oh, and if you come at the right time of year, you might catch some Evansville natives, Bob Griese and Don Mattingly throwing a few back in the bar.
I'll be back next time I'm in Evansville.
This is a perfect example of where you can have a successful restaurant without actually making good food. Â I was excited when this place opened up because I could walk to it, however I haven't been back since trying it twice. Â Their food does not display anything that would be worth going back to. Â I heard the pizza is different then the original roca bar.
The good news is the map does not show the correct location on yelp.
Pizza was fantastic and I can't argue with $2 drafts, but it just lacks some of the spirit and soul of a hometown pizza. Â Feels more like Pizza Hut than it should. Â Too shiny and new for me. Â Just my opinion.
We sat in the bar area. Â Plenty of room, plenty of TV's to choose from. Â Service was quick and efficient. Â Only complaint was that she didn't split the check as we had asked, but wasn't a big deal.
