Rock City Studios

Now, THIS is a cool little spot. Rock City Studios offers a place for musicians to rehearse, record, perform, and even take lessons. They feature talented instructors and top of the line equipment, making them an incredible resource for local musicians.

My review is for Rock City as a venue but I encourage anybody interested in lessons, rehearsal space, or recording to give them a call and check it out.

We headed out there on Friday as Jonny and his band were playing a show as part of a talent showcase. It's an all ages venue and it was funny to see a younger crowd there--made me feel kinda OOOOOLD!

Jonny warned me driving out there that soundcheck hadn't gone so well so I shouldn't expect anything spectacular but any problems must have been resolved by the time we got out there because they sounded AWESOME.

The staff was incredibly friendly and I really respect what they've got going over there. It's great to see them giving so much support to local music and I like that they give Camarillo teens a safe place to come and hang out.

The only reason it's missing a star is because music + beer = 5 stars, while music - beer only = 4 stars. I get that they CAN'T serve booze there given the type of business, but as I stated earlier-- my review is for Rock City as a venue. And a venue is a venue is a venue-- gotta have my brewskie.
