Tried to go to Rolling Rock the other day. Â Closed. Â It's in a mall so I asked the lady at the information booth what the deal was. Â She said they packed up and stole away in the night not letting the mall or even the employees what was going on.
I'm told that either a family or closely held investment group owns this restaurant plus the double OO in Wappingers Falls and the Standard in Albany. Â Possibly a couple of others as well. Â Wonder what will happen with them.
Our experience on Christmas Eve was aweful. It started with bread so stale that it was almost funny as we "knocked" the bread on the table. We asked the waitress for fresher bread. The 2nd batch was just as hard as the first batch - except we now didn't get ANY butter. A bus person came out with the first two plates and said "where do these go?" We answered "what do you have there?" She responded that she didn't know what they were. When the rest of the food came out, my entree was missing. Ten minutes later mine arrived and the waitress proudly announced that she had my "smothered burger" - except that as she began to walk away, I looked down to find chicken and nachos. Not sure how you can mistake chicken for a burger. Meals were not good - rubber undercooked pasta, etc. don't go there!!!
Review Source:When this restaurant first opened, I was pretty excited to try it. I ordered a salmon entree, which was nothing special. The salmon was served on a plank on the plate, which upon further investigation was glued to the plate with what looked like dirty mashed potatoes. Disgusting.
Unfortunately, a relative gave my fiancee and I a Rolling Rock gift card for Christmas a couple years after that, so we had to go again. We decided to give it another chance, since the food could have improved. Upon arriving, they sat us in a booth that had not been wiped down between patrons, and used silverware arranged on both of our (also not new, slightly used) paper napkins as if they were clean! Nasty. Even after our place settings had been refreshed, the food bordered on inedible.
My sister went here to eat with her boyfriend shortly after our visit and saw a mouse scurry under a table. Is anyone even paying attention to this joint? Hey Rolling Rock, end your lease already so something good has the chance to set up shop!
