The buffet. Â I suppose I have my own amateur typology of pizza, Sammy's is filed under "pizza where the cheese/toppings slide effortlessly off the crust." Â For this to happen, it has to be a thin, fairly rigid crust. Â Ironically, the most non-traditional of pizza's, the chocolate pizza, did by far the best job of retaining its toppings (the apple pie version didn't fare as well).
We were there to celebrate a birthday, and our server kept asking the birthday boy if he wanted a free dessert, but he kept putting her off until her third attempt, when he ordered vanilla ice cream. Â Then went to the bathroom. Â She came out a few minutes later with about 15 candles burning down, and no birthday boy. Â We blew out the candles and she generously took it back to redo it. Â He returned and she brought it out, as the melting wax merged with the ice cream. Â Given the fiasco, we forgot to sing happy birthday.
Sammy's has done a total remodel recently, and I enjoyed it, as I did the wings.
