Salsa: Â good... Has a kick.
Margarita: ehhh... Have had better. Tastes like a melted lime popsicle.
Food: arrived way quicker than expected for the crowd. I ordered the burrito ruleta... Chicken and chorizo burrito stuffed with rice and beans smothered in cheese... Pretty delicious. My wife had lunch special #5 with which she was very satisfied.
Service: Â definitely GOOD. Average... Staff was friendly... amigo!
Price: fair.
I decided to try this restaurant because of the positive reviews. It was the only place in Pembroke with a rating of more than 4 stars. I grew up on Mexican food. Detroit has a large Mexican population. You can find some great, reasonably priced Mexican food there. As such, I was hoping to find a hidden gem. With that said, none of what I just wrote matters because I couldn't even get past the poor service. The server acted as if it was an inconvenience to answer questions about the menu. I told her that I was a vegetarian. What do you know? There's a piece of chicken in my enchilada. I showed the manager. His response was, "Only a little, Â I think. Be careful." WTHeck!
Review Source:We were a bit apprehensive about this place at first. Â Being from southern California, home to some of the best Mexican food in the country, and frankly North Carolina didn't really strike us as a place that would have excellent Mexican food. Â We were wrong. Â San Jose was some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. Â I was shocked and blown away. Amazing is the only word that comes to mind.
