It was better under the previous owner. The food is average at best, which is too bad given it's right on the river. Also overpriced for what it is.

3 on the food, 5 on the atmosphere. Excellent music, great service, and a crowd older than 21. Food was fine, crab quesadilla, drunken muscles and grilled shrimp. But the music and and drinks were perfect ! It is what it is, a perfect local scene.

"Awesome service & food was great! They only had bay scallops for my dish & I found this out several minutes after putting in my order, the waitress was kind enough to let me know and brought over the menu so I could choose another entree. She even put a rush on the next entree I picked out and it was excellent (Huge shrimp in a pesto cream with penne" The stars are as much for the service as anything!!

I went here for my cousin's birthday not knowing what to expect. It's a bit of a hike for me but it was well worth it. We had a great time celebrating! The atmosphere is fun and laid back. They had a performer there who played acoustic guitar and took requests from his huge list of songs (kinda like a karaoke book). He was fun, interactive, and very talented. He engaged the crowd and had everyone out on the dance floor.

The food was awesome! I had a lobster quesadilla. I also tried some of the calamari and was equally impressed with how fresh and tasty it was. The prices were also very reasonable. There's a full bar and the service is great considering the crowd on a Saturday night. I would definitely recommend this bar as a local joint with a casual atmosphere. Enjoy!

This little sports bar sits close to the water with nice views from inside and out. Indoor and outdoor seating available and a bunch of screens to watch games on. The service was very good and the food was good too. Standard bar fare and good beers on tap.

I'd go back to catch a game in the off season again. This place is probably a zoo during the summer.

Great upstairs view of the harbor in restaurant (hopping bar downstairs). appetizer fair, entrees fine, dessert not so good. Server friendly but seemed in a hurry to get order in and also to bring check on a rainy Sept. night with unfilled tables.

The beef tenderloin bits appetizer was too many flavors competing: bacon wrapped around beef with a Gorgonzola sauce; the plate presentation seemed haphazard. Nothing wrong with our entrees, rare tuna on greens and crusted cod. The key lime pie cake was dry. We told the server she might want to mention to the baker (or pastry buyer) that it wasnt very satisfying, too dry. Those are supposed to be code words that has her offering a replacement or offer to take it off the tab. She nodded ... And brought the check, no deduction.

We like Union Landing next door for simple fare but the patio was a bar mob scene so we tried Sand Bar. We'd give Sand Bar another try but only after we cycle through the other 2-3 restaurants in Brielle harbor. It'd probably be better and next time if we get a dissatisfying dish, we'd know this is a place where we'd say, "would you take this back and ask the manager how you'd like to deal with this?" even with the little glitches it was a nice evening, $75 for two incl tip and drinks.

As a local... we frequent for quick meals. Love the tuna/fish bites. All the food is always great and they mix up the menu. They stay open all year so you know its good because the locals support as opposed to Union Landing next door (YUK!)

I had the privilege of riding the water taxi to the Sand Bar with friends. The bar was such a great time with a wonderful environment and great food and drinks. We had been going from bar to bar via the water taxi, and the Sand Bar was definitely our favorite. The relaxing and inviting atmosphere and made for a great time. The drinks were reasonably priced and poured quite fairly! We only had a few appetizers but they were delicious...I recommend the spicy cod bites! We would definitely visit again, and hope to soon!

I LOVE the Sand Bar! I love coming here with my girlfriends during the summer. We love the convenience of the Manasquan Water Taxi. My favorite thing about Sand Bar is when they have $4 Sangria on Fridays. It's delicious! I definitely recommend this spot!

After:

* surfing the inlet at Manasquan Beach at dawn
* tanning in all day heat
* settling for GiGi's awful pizza for lunch (ugh)
* kickin it with some Wall-township-home-grown lifeguard chicks

I like to mingle with the well-to-do Jersey Shore Lifers who own sail boats, have already made their $$$$ and hate the hell outta BENNYs (people from B-ayonne, E-lizabeth, N-ewark, and N-ew Y-ork who pollute the shore), while getting drunk on refreshing tropical drinks, chowing down on deelish burgers and enjoying the marina views from the bar.

I think I met Judge Smails here on Saturday...he gave me a quarter.

Definitely a better bar than restaurant. The guy told us 20 minutes to wait to be seated for dinner... We waited 35 and then went upstairs to see about 4 or 5 empty tables. What is that about?

It took an additional 40 minutes after ordering to get our food. The people next to us got there after us, but got their food first. Again.. what the hell?

The drinks were cheap and delicious, though. Try the skinny pina colada! My boyfriend enjoyed the Peruvian margarita and I thought the sangria was great! Dad liked it too. He also enjoyed the swordfish special... I liked the Drunken Mussels App, but my shrimp special dinner was just okay. The burger's were lacking as well.

The staff was very friendly, but I just don't know why everything took SO long! I would have given them 2 stars for that, but they allowed us to use our http://Restaurants.com coupon even though we spent a little bit under the required amount. We appreciated that.

I'd go back, but just for the bar and maybe some apps.

This place is great at night, outside, with friends for drinks, appetizers and partying. We've been here several times for a fun night out with friends and we'll continue to do so in the summer. Great fun, great atmosphere, and Union Landing being right there, makes it easy to go back and forth.
However, my husband and I decided to go to dinner here once, unfortunately. For the first time EVER we walked out of a restaurant. The dining room they brought us to was upstairs in a very strange, dead quiet, depressing room that had absolutely no atmosphere and hideous circa 1975 carpeting throughout. I was seated under a slanted wooden beam and if I moved at all, I banged my head on it (and I am not even 5'2"). We looked at the menu and noticed the surf and turf was pork chops and scallops (what??). That was the last straw. We just looked at eachother, left, and had a lovely dinner at Shipwreck.
No more dinners here for us ever again. Great for drinks only.

FUN! Great music and delicious burgers! It's a bar first and a place to eat and view the water second. But a worthwhile stop for sure!

Hands down THE WORST dinner I have ever had. We made reservations and our table wasn't "quite ready" which is fine so we sent to the bar for a drink. The bar had a horrible odor of stale beer and clogged tap hoses. 1/2 hour later our table is ready. Great view. While we were being seated, we noticed another couple there complaining about their order, but we really paid no mind.

I ordered shrimp and scallops with pasta. When it arrived the scallops and shrimp were cold, The scallops had a horrible fishy smell to them (scallops are not supposed to smell like fish and tasted horrible. I took 3 bites and had enough. My husband ordered a steak. When it arrived it was sitting in a dish that was loaded with oil~~not butter, oil. It tasted horrible. Our waitress was never anywhere to be found. When she finally came back and asked how everything was, I was very honest and said it was horrible and asked to speak to a manager. The manager was a very nice man, listened to me, and told me, without hesitation that I would not be charged for my meal. Funny thing though, he didn't act at all surprised.

We took our son and his fiancee, and her parents to celebrate their recent engagement. We had reservations. When we arrived, plenty of empty table, not set up. Place mats and silverware haphazardly thrown on table. Appetizers were average. Fishermans plattters(broiled), Overcooked to the point of the flounder being inedible. No seasoning and scallops were gritty. We did not want to complain in front of our guests but were embarassed over the poor quality. Desert was excellent though, the red velvet cake was amazing. I would guess they are not prepared in house. Service was not good. Hot soups were passed across 2 diners to another instead of waitress walking around the table. There were no obstacles to doing this. The view must be beautiful on a clear day but a view does not make up for horrible food and service. I would not go again and I would certainly not book a rehearsal dinner there as I was hoping to get info on. The bill for 6 with tip was $275.00. Never again!!

The view is the best part of the Sandbar. The restaurant is located upstairs above a very noisy bar and looks out over Brielle harbor and the Manasquan River and out to the ocean. They serve American food ranging from sandwiches and burgers to surf and turf. The food is okay. The decor in the restaurant area is very simple and really could use a touch up. The service was very good. A negative is that the sound system from the bar downstairs was booming bass up through the floor.
A-OK about sums it up, hence the 3 stars.

The waitress acted like she was doing us a favor. The menu she brought had a glob of food on it. The meals were mediocre--chewy tuna steak and the BLT Nouveau, which was disgustingly over-fried despite being on the Lighter Fare menu. The waitress brought coffee and the cream coagulated in my husband's coffee. She said she would bring another, but he said no thanks. We figured she would take his coffee off the bill, but she didn't. Overall a disappointing experience and definitely not worth the money. Go to Union Landing next door and enjoy excellent service and amazing food.

New Years Eve at The Sand Bar! A great way to end 2010 and start off 2011 right. I was accompanied by Debbi Faye, Toot and Lyndsey. We came for dinner early and not for the party that I'm sure raged later as Debbi wanted to just quietly ring in the New Year back at the Lazy L.

We sat upstairs, with its beautiful views of the marina, and despite the frigid temps, we did see the comings and goings of a few boats. Of course, after the last recent 2 foot snowfall the marina was once again, a Currier and Ives litho brought to life.

Our meals were all very good, our server, Barbara, was excellent from start to, too full for dessert, finish. We had started with some Calamari and Nachos apps, so maybe next time we'll skip the apps and save room for dessert! Or maybe just do the reverse meal thing and START with dessert?

I hope all my YELP buds had as good a New Years Eve as I did, and I hope you all have a great 2011!
