Good drink prices. I enjoyed the blues band and pin ball machine. Much better than most of the other bars in Saugatuck. Laid back staff. I will return.

Drinks anyone?  I do believe this is where the locals are - old fashion salon with a live band!

Apparently I'm a small town girl at heart.  I'd rather seek out the local bars then visit something a bit more on the touristy side.  Thank goodness for Sand Bar.  As we walked around Saugatuck, I spotted the Sand Bar with its old fashioned, western style saloon sign just beckoning me to enter.  I instantly had a good feeling about this place.  I grabbed the man's hand and said "Oh, let's check that place out!"

The front section is set up with tables and chairs, with live music shows in mind.  There is a juke box to the right, which consisted of some oldies and mostly blues albums.  We headed to the back, and grabbed a pub table along the wall.  Seated at the bar were locals.  The place has to be good if the locals go there.  They have a few beers on tap, noticeably Bells.  I shimmied up to the bar, and placed my order for a Bells draft and a Jack & Coke.  The total, 8 bucks.  I'll take it!

I will say, the place as that stale odor that dive bars should have.  You can tell at one time, this place was filled with cigarette smoke.  I didn't find the smell of putting.  I think I would be more offended if it smelled like roses.  Way to keep it real, Sand Bar!

Whole in the wall hometown bar. Very good cheap drinks. Great place to mingle with the locals.

Sand Bar, it's a good thing I don't live in town or you'd be sick of me. Rolling into town and marveling at the quaintness of it, I said to my road trip buddy, "we need to find an old man bar and get the scoop on this wacky place". We saw the word SALOON on a sign and popped in with a quickness.

My beloved Bell's Amber as well as the IPA in bottles (at a hefty $4.25 a pop, which surprised me - don't they hand that stuff out on the street corners in Michigan?), a great juke box, pool table, Keno for your gambling needs, and real live authentic old men!

Overheard by aforementioned old man: "...So I had to fire him. I DON'T LIKE BAD ATTITUDES!" As I whipped around to see who said that, I exclaimed to my road trip companion, "I love that guy!" I saw him set his cane down, do a little boogie to the Otis Redding playing overhead and take his turn at the pool table.

    Fantastic.

Great basic bar with great service!  Always 2 dollar Fosters drafts, and all-beef hotdogs.  There's a jukebox, a few tvs, a pool table, and occasional live music.
