I think I can I think I can I think I can.....
Santino's is proving to be the little engine that could....
I had dinner with a friend after some golf lessons, so I finally got to actually eat here...
It was a beautiful night, and both garage type doors that flank either side of the restaurant were open, and there was an aweseome cross breeze...just what this Michigander, just coming out of a cold crummy winter needed...it was very nice.
Service was good, our waitress was attentive, and for a Monday she was running her rear off (WINGS GAME!) I also had a check in offer for Yelp that technically wasn't valid for the time we were at the restaurant, but the manager honored it anyway....that was good...it was onlly 10% off, so kudos for doing the right thing :-) Â My friend said his Chicken Caesar wrap was good, and as was my salad.... Â I still do not get why for $11 my salad bowl is not over-floweth with lettuce, but I'm starting to accept the trend... Â Santino's is a tad pricy...I'd go back, it wouldn't be my first choice, but I wouldn't turn it down either.
I honestly don't even know where to start. Probably the management: The owner has no idea how to run a bar and treats it as his own little playground, while acting like everyone else giving him money is bothering him. The owner yells at staff in front of the patrons, making customers feel very uncomfortable. He and the general managers do not know how to solve problems and are very confrontational with guests and employees. The music in the bar/dining area is obnoxiously loud which makes it literally impossible enjoy conversation and it urges inappropriate dancing in an area where dancing should not be permitted, seeing as there is a subpar nightclub on the other side of the bar. When asked to turn it down, the managers say they can't do anything about the noise. The food is overpriced. The drinks are overpriced.
They don't value their customers and don't value their employees. I urge everyone to NEVER give this place your business because, frankly, they don't deserve it. The treatment that you will receive from upper management and the owner is absolutely atrocious.
Like earlier reviews have said, this is an establishment suffering from an identity crisis. It's whole aura is desperate to hip and trendy, but the only problem is that it's tucked into the homely upscale suburbs of Washington Twp. not exactly a hip town. It's a messy pastiche of a sports bar and grill, martini bar, club, and dare I even say regular restaurant? The security with the ear pieces is just downright obnoxious, and the owner walking around giving people the stink eye doesn't help either. You get the distinct impression that you're in "his bar", something that is a big turn off for me. I had a Cuban sandwich (That was just ok) and one beer before we left and finished the night somewhere more enjoyable.
