Wow, this place can probably be carbon dated and only 3 reviews?
My family has been coming here since before I can remember. Â We've lived on 23 Mile since it was dirt-no really there are pictures! Â I can still remember nights I went to bed hungry after stomping around the kitchen screaming "I only want an eggroll!"
I have gone back only sporatically in the past few years and the restaurant is really not anything spectacular-just has that kind of nostalgia that comes with having spent so much time there as a child :)
The fried rice is decidely average-maybe slightly below. Â The real stars of the show IMHO are as follows (in no particular order):
Sweet and sour shrimp-they are like donut rings and very large. Â Plus the sauch comes on the side in a carry out which is a bonus. Â That way the tempura batter is nice and crispy when you get home.
Won ton soup-by itself is average but if you dine in you get giant sweet rolls on the side to dip which basically fills me up prior to even tasting the meal.
Drinks (alcohol)-come in the most over the top glassware I've ever seen. Â In fact, I think every member of my extended family has one in their collection from pilfering over the years. Â The drinks themselves, however, are pretty sugary sweet as per usual in Chinese establishments but potent nonetheless.
The entrance-looks like you are entering the forbidden palace. Â Juvenile, I know.
My aunt who moved to Tennessee has kittens over the eggrolls. Â I'm on the fence-could be she just misses the bean sprout filling which is unheard of in the cabbage loving Korean dominated southern asian joints.
If you want better than decent Chinese food in a semi-kitschy atmosphere for a good price this is your place.
