Scalpers is truly one of two places in the Mayfield area for DJ dancing, Boneyard being the other.  Beer prices are cheap and the food comes from the sub place next door, satisfying bar food given the drunken state that most are in when eating there.  I probably wouldn't go there for dinner anytime soon, but Scalpers isn't priding themselves on having a populous menu for a wide variety of diners.  Bar food, period.

Scalpers does make a good case as a happy hour / sports watching bar.  TV's are big, bar is lengthy, servers are nice, and there is a lot more seating in the back for larger parties.  Given the other places in the area, you can easily see why this is a hit with the locals.

The basement is where the dancing happens.  Pretty low key, safe, and really does the trick when all you want is just to shake your ass a little with some friends.  The day I was there last weekend was interesting to say the least.  Perfect day for people watching fo-sho.

Oddity of the night was that the bathrooms had a very odd stench to them but I'm banking this as a one time occurrence.

What a great little place this is... Scalpers; good food, good fun and a nice little way to get away from all the franchise bar scenes. The amount of specials during a week are amazing. Great bands play here up top, and should you discover the downstairs, a DJ and dancefloor. Get your groove on and definately have a great time in this place. A place where you can just be yourself. Great things to come to this little place.

So I was working until midnight, and as usual I was STARVING by the end of my shift.  To solve this problem, two coworkers and I decided to search for local bars in the area that serve food after midnight, and luckily after many phone calls and one unsuccessful bar trip, we happened to find Scalpers.

From the outside, this place looks really shady at nighttime, and you have to watchout in the wintertime because the snow isn't fully shoveled, but once you walk into the bar, put your worries aside.  The beer is ridiculously cheap (like $2.50 for a large draft beer), and the food is delicious.  I had the chicken parmesan fries.  I never imaged this mixture together, but they tasted good.

My one coworker decided to strike up conversation with the bar tenders, and they were super friendly.  The other people in the bar may be called white trash as another yelper has stated, but hey, not everyone can achieve Sex and the City girl status.

My friend did complain that they don't serve hennessy, and I was a little disappointed that they don't have my favorite cider beers, but overall this place was a great experience. I definitely plan on going back.
