So if you ever find yourself in the middle of god country, Warsaw, IN, stop in at Schoops for a pretty good meal.
Milk shakes, malts and floats are all yum to the tum but they do lack the left overs, you know, when you order a milk shake they bring you the glass and then the mixing cup with the left overs...they need to hook you up with that.
As far as the burgers...have one of the Doubles. They are thin hand made patties, very good and the melted cheese doesnt disapoint. Well that's if you're tollerant of lactose, cause you people who cant have cheese or milk...not much I can do for you.
Oh! as your chilling waiting for your meal, chech out the decor, some pretty funny signs on the way.
Enjoyable meal!
Yummy burgers, generous french fries, flavored Cokes, amazing milkshakes and great service. Â How can you not love this place?
What I like: Â crispy edges on the burgers ( similar to Steak and Shake but with lots more meat); waitresses who smile; chocolate malts (wow!); banana splits made correctly; refills on drinks without having to ask (the waitress just brings a fresh one to the table when yours is getting low!)
Their competition appears to be McDonald s, Hardees, Â Applebees and so on. Â This is far and away the best choice in the area. Â (Even if there were plenty of other homemade burger places nearby I would rate them the same.)
The food and service were both amazing! Â Beware the double cheese burger is a full pound of beef. Â Unless you are preparing to Sumo stick with the single. Â The food was served hot and fast. Â This place was suggested to me by someone else and now I see why. Â Don't miss it if you are passing through Warsaw.
Review Source:This is a small diner chain that's been around since 1948. Â So....that doesn't make them so 'fake'. You can tell some of the stuff on the walls has BEEN on the walls for a good long time. I'm not sure when this location opened, but it's not some stupid Johnny Rocket's theme restaurant. Â

Their burgers are more expensive than Steak and Shake, but they are MUCH bigger, and IMHO, heartier, and tastier. Yeah, I was surprised fries were extra. If I'd known the burger was so big I would not have ordered the fries, though!
Was sad that there is no 'real' cheese on the menu, only American and Swiss. If there had been real cheese on the burger it would have been wonderful.
I liked the small town feel. You could tell most people were regulars, which is always a good sign.
Friendly staff, all very nice. Definitely worth a stop.
As other reviewers have pointed out, a shiny diner setting and oldies on the stereo don't make a classic eatery.
When I pay $6.99 for a double cheeseburger in Indiana, I want some fries on the side, or at least a pickle. Fries were another $2! So I didn't order any.
Here's a tip: Don't order a double or triple burger unless you're splitting it with someone else. And use the provided knife and fork, because the buns aren't very sturdy.
Also, the Green River is just green-colored lemon-lime soda.
A fake old 50's type of diner. They serve Steak'n'Shake type food. Real fresh ground beef patty hamburgers and hand-dipped milkshakes. It seems a bit overpriced, but I guess you aren't comparing apples to apples if you compare it to "fast food" type joints that only serve frozen patty hamburgers made hundreds of miles away in some unknown decade of the 1900's. So I guess the little extra cost is worth it. It isn't anything fancy or memorable though. If you like authentic old-time diners, you'll have to drive about 20 minutes to Goshen to the South Side Diner.
Food is good, but nothing special. The decorations are fake aniques and nostalgia pieces. The last time I was in there, the furniture was in some need of repair. Not the best first date place, but if you need a hamburger and don't want a mystery meat, preservative stuffed thing from a mcfooode joint, then this is the place for you.
