Great happy hour! $3 drafts. I had a Shorts Soft Parade. Can't beat the price and Tuesdays are $2 burgers. My burger was delicious.

Waitress tried to force us to pay our bill TWICE..... we were buying rounds as we went and did not have a tab open. We ordered and paid for a second round. The waitress (Tara) saw me on my way to the rest room and stopped me and said my friend never paid for the last round.
We went back to my table and my friend said she had, I knew that she had also. The waitress put up a good fight until she realized she was not going to win (guss we were not drunk enough to fall for it?) and be able to pocket an extra $15. Very pushy and nasty, clearly does this all the time and rips off customers. I'll never be there again. AVOID!!!!!!

The best thing about Sean O'Callaghans is the atmosphere - and the fact that it is one of the few area bars that still offers Strongbow on tap. The food is merely ok... Not bad by any means, but not great either. If you haven't been here, it is worth a try, especially if all the other restaurants are packed.

I can appreciate this pub for what it is. I like all the dark wood and the layout has its pros and some cons. On busy nights this place is a little cramped but they serve really good beer and they have some decent whiskeys to choose from. Overall I'm usually not interested in spending an entire night here but for a solid starter bar it serves its purpose. The lives music is usually solid talent and if you want to get away from the noise their side room is a good place to start unless you're lucky enough to get a pub table in the back. I haven't eaten here but for drinks I think it's a fair option to hit up to kick off a night out while in the Main Street corridor. Service is solid and prices are fair.

Sean O'Callaghans is about as authentic an Irish pub as every other "authentic Irish pub" in the area. That being said, they have a respectable list of beers on tap (22) and they have a great happy hour ($3 pints and 50% off appetizers from 3-7pm M-F.) They have all the Irish staples that you'd expect from an establishment positioning themselves as authentic: Guinness, Harp, Murpheys, etc.

The service is good if you go during the week, not great but not terrible enough to make you go elsewhere if you decide to go on the weekends. That being said, whether you'll enjoy yourself depends on what type of experience you're looking for and what day/time you go. I prefer the more "grabbing a pint after work" atmosphere during their weekday happy hour. Be advised that on the weekends, Sean O'Callaghans turns into a frat house - which is fine, if that's what you're fancying. It's just a different crowd than during the week.

I'll keep stopping by during the week to grab a pint or two.

This is a great place to get together with friends and enjoy some good food.   For the most part, I try to come during happy hour to get a glass or two of Guinness and enjoy some food.  I have always had quick and efficient servers.  A family favorite is their curry fries...delicious!

The happy hour starts between 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 daily. There are 22 beers on tap for $3 and $4 on all wine glass pours. There is half-off a special appetizer menu. Each day of the week has a special to make you happy as well. The beer selection is outstanding and has many craft beers for drinking pleasure.

The ambiance sucks you in and takes you away to a Public House in Ireland. This place is literally the most authentic or close to an Irish theme bar then any other place in Michigan. The Menu touches on American and Irish inspired dishes that most places don't bother to explore when they have an Irish theme restaurant.

Although, some dishes defiantly need to be updated. Some prices are a little high for the simplistic comfort food that are found in public houses. The bartenders are not bad but have seem unmotivated and personality lacking. The bartenders should set the energy for the patrons that are having a few pints. The place is a great way to start the evening or if you're looking for some good pub food.

Great place to go grab some beers and enjoy the company of your friends and family.
Whether we are going in for a handful of drinks with friends or just grabbing a night cap we always have a great time and a scotch egg, you should not pass up the chance to have a scotch egg at O'Callaghans, they are amazing and the mustard dip that comes with is fantastic on just about everything :-) We haven't had a full meal here but the drinks, appetizers, staff, and atmosphere is more than enough to keep us coming back!

This barstaurant is great fun, with a great atmosphere.

Been there several times--the latest as a rebound from a horrendous dining experience attempt at a new nearby establishment that couldn't be bothered to execute the basics of customer service. Luckily they spared us and helped us figure this out in enough time to get up and go to O'Callaghans to redeem the evening!

We sat at the bar where staff were on top of things and fun to chat with. One of the owners came by to ask how our meals were--wow, nice personal touch, and that guarantees our return for sure (even had other aspects of dining there been less than par, but that wasn't the case).

We had the shepherd's pie and awesome corned beef gouda-aioli melt (slaw on the side for me), which were totally amazing. The beers on tap--22 of them--include a great selection.

This is definitely a lively, fun and, I think, beautiful place. The mahogany, etched glass, and wall art all contribute to make O'Callaghans welcoming and warm.

No doubt about it: We'll be back.

Let's call this what it is . . . a  "less than authentic" Irish bar.  How do I know?  Well  . . .on the night i was there- the band wasn't playing "Molly Malone".  Nope.  They were doing a version of the Average White Band's, "Pick up the pieces" and actually doing it pretty well.

Oh well.  That's okay.  If I wanted authentic I would go to Ireland.

They did pour a decent Guinness and given how packed the place was on a recent Friday night, the service was also quite good.  They were even quick to sweep up the glass of some drunk guy who obviously had been over served and dropped his Guinness all over my shoes!

it was definitely a "brodeo" (tons of men and very few women) so ladies if you are looking for where the guys are in downtown Plymouth on a Friday night . . .look no further.

Plenty of free street parking right out front . . .and bring your ID as they are checking it at the door!

Just don't expect a sing along to "Danny Boy" while drinking your Guinness!

This place USED to be good. I used to go here when I was 21. Some nights would feel like a frat party (which I used to consider a good thing) and other nights it was cougar central. The live music was a nice touch, but I have to say I have never gotten good service from a waitress. I always found myself going straight to the bar for drinks. The place was usually packed, but it didn't seem like anything special. People standing around drinking beer, but not food. The food is ok, but not cheap.

We went here after my brother's wedding and the door guy was so incredibly rude to him that we decided to go across the street to the Penn Bar. My brother had just gotten married, so his best man was carrying his wallet. Because of the confusion with him not carrying his own ID, the door guy was on a power trip and was so obnoxious that we left!  That was an extremely bad business tactic. Never turn down a wedding party.

Turn down a group of well-dress adults drinking beer, ordering food, and buying round after round of shots? We kindly went across the street to the Penn and spent a ton of money with them instead! We had a great time.

THE   ANGUS BURGER WAS VERY GOOD, COOKED THE WAY I ORDERED IT.
Soup of the day was cream of spinach and was very good.
My wife had the portabella mushroom burger and said it was very good.
    Service was excellent.
All - in all a good meal--we'll be back.  Solid 3.5!!

This place was my go-to bar when I was 22 and lived up the street.  It would probably still be if I didn't move away. I've had many great St. Patrick's Day memories, er from what I remember, but that's neither here not there...

Holy beers on tap(1/2 off on Thursday nights)! They've added a bunch of taps since my last visit and I'm impressed. Other than that its your typical Irish pub- dark wood, stained glass, big screen TVs everywhere. The service is solid. Jen was there that night, but I was left wondering what happened to Tony-honey-sweetie-baby-darling, and Eamonn?

Typical American version of an Irish Pub.

They have good bar food, a great happy hour, and pour a pint of Guinness correctly.  I have always had great service here when sitting at the bar or at a table.  I enjoy the warm atmosphere here.  One of my favorite places to go for a drink in Plymouth, I'm a big fan.

Came here for drinks, and ended up getting a few desserts to go along with them. They have tons of drink specials, and seemed to have some really good ones during the week in addition to their awesome happy hour.

The desserts we great, with the bread pudding being the highlight. Definitely your typical Irish pub in America, where they stuff as much Irish memorabilia and signs on the wall as they can, but hey, it's still a cool place.

I really enjoyed this place! They have some good happy hour specials, especially on Thursday. The good is good. They have a make your own Farmers market salad and the chicken tenders looked great. I've had the traditional Irish boxty twice and really liked it. I've never been to Ireland so I'm not sure how close to traditional it was but it was delicious. Good soup too!

This has been a great place for late night burgers and a few pints of Guinness. The have won a Guinness pouring award for quite a few years and it is very evident. One of the best places for one.

We usually head here around eleven and stay here or continue the night at the Penn.

The atmosphere is very warm and you are usually surrounded by good people. The quarters are somewhat close but I have met many people because of this.

Great cheap burger too on Tuesdays, I think.

Awesome beer selection, great people. Every time I've been here I have enjoyed myself to keep coming back.

I love this place, it's a great hangout both on the weekends (live music!) as well as regular weekdays.

They have a great selection of many Irish beers, and a menu with some occasional misses but mainly hits.

Hailing from Europe myself I have been familiar with the deliciousness known as Scotch Eggs since childhood.  A Scottish egg is a hard boiled egg covered in ground sausage - turning into something resembling a huge meaty snowball and deep fried until crispy perfection.  Sean O'Callaghans prepares these bad-boys expertly and serves them with honey mustard dressing (slightly less traditional but yummy nonetheless).

They have a nice burger deal, I think for $2, but sadly the burger itself falls flat for me.  Thin, overcooked and under seasoned patties do not get my stomach excited at all.  However, when hungry or need something inexpensive to chase down one too many beers, these will do just fine.

One of the places I frequent when I go home to visit friends/ family in Michigan. Cool, casual pub to grab a beer on any given night. Plenty of seating to sit down and catch up with old friends. Can get a little noisy on weekends when it gets busy & has live music.

So, the downside of o'callahan's isn't the joint itself but the stupid fools that you will likely run into while you are here.

Hit this place up when you can and enjoy the live music, namely The Strangers. The beer selection is freakin' fantastic. All the Irish greats can be found here.

The food isn't bad either. However, the question begs why eat when you can drink those calories?

Cool Irish pub in Plymouth. Service was solid as was the food. The chicken ceaser wrap I had was awesome, it had a great layer of parmesan cheese and dressing with uber moist warm chicken. The fiance ordered a custom "farmers market salad" which looked and tasted fresh and delicious. One thumb up!

Only gripe was lack of refilling of our beverages.

I am not an expert on "Irish food" by any means, but I've eaten here a couple of times and always have enjoyed what I choose.

Most recently we stopped in for a meal this past weekend. Had a couple of glasses of wine and I ordered the corned beef and cabbage. Red wine and cabbage...probably not the best choice together but I don't really care. The cabbage was tender and juicy, served with a chunk of cabbage, carrots, and floating in what I felt to be too much broth. Is corned beef and cabbage always supposed to be floating in this much broth? I don't know, but it was still delicious. At $14 I hope so. But, I did have some to take home also and the waiter offered to pack it up for me. I happily said OK, but can you drain out the "juice"? He did.

They guy I was with ordered the Shepherd's pie....yum. I didn't even get a single bite but I've had it before. He whined that it wasn't enough food for him, so we trekked over to Box Bar so he could get a burger about an hour later and so that I could get a drink that was less than 6 bucks.

Service was great - Prices were fair to moderate. On a lot of weekend nights when you go in there, they have musicians crammed in to the corner up front but they're usually pretty decent. Good atmosphere, cozy, a little something different.

Have been here 4-5 times now.  The most recent visit will be my last:   Employees (including the shift manager) are a-holes for no apparent reason, food is mediocre at best, beer selection is average.  Plymouth has enough good places that you can spend your time and $ somewhere else

I'm practically a regular at Sean O'Callaghans since we live so close by. I wouldn't say this is one of the best spots I've ever hung out at, but it's certainly above average for the neighborhood. The food is typical Irish fare, so you kind of get what you'd expect. I think their fish & chips are definitely above average and the shepherds pie and beef stew are great comfort food.
The atmosphere is great. The dining room has a fireplace and cozy little dividers between the tables. It's definitely got the dark Irish pub thing going. The bar area is perfectly designed for hours of hanging out with lots of standing room, a big bar, and plenty of high tops and shelves to sit down your pint.
It's always busy on Friday and Saturday nights and they usually have some kind of live music. Some is good, some not so good, but who's really there for the music anyway? The crowd is usually a pretty good mix of ages, although if you're in your early 20's you'll probably find the crowd a little mature for your taste. I saw some previous reviewers comment on the cougar crowd, and I won't argue with that. Pretty sure I saw a mother and daughter dancing with the same guy just last night.
At the same time, if you're meeting up with some friends or just want to hang out, the patrons always seem to be a in a great mood and you can make easy friends.
Late night there is also a steady stream of revelers between this bar and the bar across the street, Penn Grill. I'd say Penn Grill attracts a bit of a younger crowd, but since neither has a cover you can wander back and forth all you want.
For this side of town, as good a spot as any to grab a pint of Smithwicks on a Saturday night or stop in for some good appetizers on their happy hour menu.

Sean O'Callaghan's might have saved my fingers yesterday. After running a table at the Plymouth Ice Festival for the day I was hungry and freezing so my mom and I popped in for a bite and a bit of defrosting here. It was crazy busy because of the ice fair but we were still able to snag a table at the bar for the two of us.

When it comes to rewarming foods most people go for soup or some other sort of comfort dish like Shepard's Pie, but I dig a good burger so a burger I got. This puppy was pretty huge and topped with cheese, lettuce and a onion. The lettuce is the bulk shredded variety which is kind of bland and doesn't lend to any additional flavor and it gets stuck in the cheese so you can't take it off. The tomatoes are your standard winter variety--thick cut and mealy/mushy. I took them off. The onions were red onions, sweet and crunchy. Those stayed. Aside from the mostly "meh" toppings the burger itself was pretty good. Juicy and with a nice flame broiled flavor. The french fries came out piping hot and nice and crunchy. I liked those.

The menu has a decent selection of Irish and British fare mixed in with your standard pub food. I'd be curious to try some of the other dishes like the fish and chips or the bangers and mash. They've got a great looking selection of beers, and of course Guinness! Our waitress was attentive, despite the mad rush of people there warming up. The view out the window was great, a huge ice sculpture of a reindeer hanging out out front. Overall a pretty decent place to grab a burger, a beer, and bit of warmth!

Was here on a Saturday night for a a little bit of dancing and drinks.  From the outside, we heard strains of music from a live band, and saw a packed crowd through the front windows.  Figured it would be a good choice for a fun time.

Upon entering, the picture became a little clearer - that the band was playing medoicre, run-of-the-mill bar cover songs while the Plymouth Cougar Club shook it up in their Talbots blazers and tapered leg jeans, desperately trying to regain some of their lost youthful years.

$4.50 for a measley pint of Miller Lite.  Staff that, yes, were busy...but decided in the rush to serve everyone, a friendly tone and smile were the things that had to be cut.

If their food menu is decent, I'll bet this place would be a cool lunch spot.  But their nightlife?  Yikes.

Wow this places was a lot of fun.
Festive, spirited, people just out to have a good time!

I am not here to tell you about the food for this visit, but the ambiance certainly seemed right for a pub type meal.

As some others have said, it was crowded...but then again I wouldn't have wanted to stay if it was dead!

The musician they hired was OUTSTANDING...a dude and his guitar with the help of some background accompaniment...a one man band entertaining the whole place! Nicely done!

The service was not quite as good as the previous two places, and it took a little prompting to get the attention of the server, but once we were on the radar, he came back often.

This is a place that I will come back to for food, drinks and fun, but the one thing I would say is, it makes it a lot more fun if you have a group!

Would've given it 4 Stars but they are always overcrowded and after a few people and/or drunks bump into you or your friends it's annoying. The band on Friday is awesome though! They play lots of great music and I'll admit I love when they play "Sweet Caroline" and everyone sings along!  Crows is usually pretty decent, most people in their 20's or early 30's, not too many older people.

They have some decent specials and are worth checking out. Here is their new website address:

A salad at an Irish pub?

Yep! I'm here to tell you that you can not only get just any salad, but a pretty darn good one right here at Sean O'Callaghans.

I stopped in here for a quick lunch w/friends leading up to the Green Street Fair.  It was pretty quiet at lunchtime, and luckily, the wise Lish tipped me off to how to get a big bowl of greens as good as what they were eating.

You can ask for a build-a-salad list and then select your greens, toppings, dressing, and chicken or fish to go atop it that strikes your fancy. This is far, far healthier grub than I would ever suspect would be available at an Irish pub.

I can give it a hearty A-OK since I had a delicious lunch.  I'm not sure it would be a place I'd venture in the evening, but I certainly would give it more of a a shot that I would ever have before my pleasant lunchtime experience!

The best time to go here is for a late lunch. The snooty crowd isn't there, in fact, I was there on Monday and there was one other person in there that was not an employee. The potato leek soup is on point, the corned beef melt is fantastic, and the service we had was outstanding.  The corned beef melt is unlike any other corned beef sandwich I have ever had.  Instead of sauerkraut on it, there is this tasty red cabbage slaw and a spicy aioli instead of thousand island.  We ordered calimari as an appetizer,  but our server came back to tell us that the chef didn't want to serve it because he was throwing it out: he thought it didn't smell right. Sean O'Callaghan's bought us a different appetizer, so we got the Scotch egg. Sausage wrapped hard boiled egg with Guinness mustard: I was in heaven!
Again: GO FOR LUNCH. I cannot stress this enough, dinner isn't as good.

Went here for the first time during the December "everyone's in town" holidays.  My high school friend and I ventured here after bowling at Plaza Lanes in Plymouth. (That is, totally, another story).

If you consider it's in Plymouth, and not a bigger city, it's a great establishment. A good place to meet friends and have a drink. As a bar overall, the beer list is not that extensive. I had a Smithwick's, which I adore, but can get it anywhere. Most of the beers on the list, I can find in my own fridge. The variety of Whiskey available is quite ample. As for the food, I can't rate it at all. We only sampled the libations.

The decor is of the dark wood variety. Big heavy tables. Very cozy. Love the look. The clientele appear to be mainly in the 20something range. An age group that can get annoying. I was one of them once as well, so I'm not complaining. Statement of fact. Could have been the time of year.

It is a nice place to hang out with one of your oldest friends and dish.

O'Callaghans is a great place to catch Setanta. The service is good and my experience with the food and drink has been top notch. Why 3 stars? At night the place becomes a bit of a nightmare. It gets very loud with rude clientele. The whole place gets a little obnoxious.

I started coming here when they first opened. In the beginning they had really amazing, hearty food. They had a chicken sandwich on a crusty bread that was to die for with zesty slaw and the sourest pickles that I have never quite forgiven them for axing off the menu to be honest.

The last meal I had in there was with my entire family. We all had issues with our food and it was a disaster, not that the staff minded any but still. The staff is unfriendly, inefficient and borderline incompetent. Grossly overpriced food badly done is the ultimate restaurant sin in my book, compound it with the fact no one cared enough to address problems properly after complaints and well guess who will never go back?

The burgers in here are ten bucks. Seriously. Not a great burger but a simple bacon burger is ten bucks. For ten bucks I want something special.

I had a Shaved Prime Rib sandwich that was so fatty I could barely eat it, skimpy portioned too. All that for 13.50. Wait, they also charged me 3.00 extra for a small cup of curry dip to eat overdone chips aka fries with. Chewy and tasteless.

My dad had the Corned Beef and Cabbage. 12.50 for a rather sad plate of underdone veggies with a meager helping of beef. Rather bland to boot. I easily make better in a freaking crock pot.

For 9.50 my husband had Irish Breakfast. They were out of bacon aka rashers so they merely didn't put it on the plate. My husband had to complain and then they told him they were out. He had to actually make the suggestion they substitute something for the missing meat. He was highly annoyed because he wanted the bacon and would not have ordered it at all if he knew they had none. His toast was overdone and his potatoes as all veggies at O'Callaghans were underdone.

My mother had the only decent dish of the day but of course had to wait for it while the rest of us ate our food. By the time hers came we were done except James, who was finally getting his substitute bangers for his missing rashers. The Shepherd's pie was tasty and we all drooled as she ate it in jealousy.

Everything is extra here. They nickle and dime you into a very expensive final tab and frankly the food is so not worth it. I would avoid it, even if you have a great coupon. I have no respect for poor service and less for management that fails to address basic complaints. I will never be back.

There are three locations of this bar, which I did not know about until recently. It makes me a little sad because I thought the one in Plymouth was an original local spot.

Inside its your traditional Irish Pub decor, lots of dark wood, and nice fireplace thrown in. Lots of seating and bar stools. If you need to use the bathroom you will have to go down the stairs to the basement, a bit dangerous if your tipsy!

The bar has anything you could think of to order drink wise. It's always crowded and they often have a live band. The crowd is a mix of 20 somethings and some older guys. But its the kind of crowd that loves super fake tan girls if you know what I mean.

It a good place to come with a group of friends for drinks but if you want to check some guys out I don't really think this is the place. I was also told the food is good here too.

If you're looking to get out of Ann Arbor and hit up a different bar, this is a fun place to go.  This Irish Pub is located in downtown Plymouth; it's a cute area to walk around, window shop, and try out some different restaurants/bars.  Bonus: free street parking!!

O'Callaghans is separated into a dining area and the main bar area.  Some nights the bar can get pretty busy; for example, Thursday nights are packed due to specials on Cosmos and draft beer.  You have to order food to sit on the "dining" side, which gets frustrating later in the evening as that side remains fairly empty and the bar side is standing room only.  You definitely need to get there early to get a table, as there aren't a lot of seats on the bar side.  There is often live music and no cover, so it's a fun, lively atmosphere.  The crowd is a mix of twenty-somethings and young professionals; people are usually pretty friendly and chatty -  It's hard to leave here without having met someone new.

BOTTOM LINE:  A fun alternative to the Ann Arbor bar scene, if you don't mind a short drive.  Thursdays present a lively crowd, fun music, and good drink specials.
