Cool little spot for HH drinks and good eats. My co-worker and I came here on a Tuesday night (being out-of-towners), because our local colleagues always seem to mention this place in random conversations. We expected it to be a little more crowded when we got here, but then again, who goes out on a Tuesday night other than lame out-of-towners here for business with nothing better to do? :)
The space was cute and quaint with a comfy bar inside and a cozy bar outside, and we hopped around checking out the numerous places to sit and chill. The waitresses were very friendly and periodically checked up on us even though we didn't order food. Overall, our bartender was super cool and laid-back, and we had a great time at Seven. Although my bar tab came back a little steep for HH ($20 for one grey goose/water and one grey goose martini), I didn't complain. It got more crowded as the night progressed, but keep in mind, we only came for HH... So after about 8pm, we figured it was time to call it a night. :)
I hade a great time at this little cozy bar is fun with a great crowd, interesting drinks. but be ready to wait for drinks cuz this place can get packed. the only reason I gave this place a 4 stars instead of 5 stars is cuz the slides tasted like the bread was sitting on a heat lamp for days
Review Source:Seriously I never write reviews but I had to write  on this one.  Gone here 2x and and it seriously one of the worst bar in Santa Barbara.  The bartenders are so rude and the service is horrendous.  The drinks are pathetic.  Much better places in SB, don't waste your $$.  Never again!!! If I could give no stars I would.
Review Source:Excellent new addition to the funk zone. Easy parking and a stones throw from state. Great cocktails with good food to accompany it. Had the Mac and cheese 7 style (a meal in itself, best split between two or shared around the table) and pulled pork sliders. Good beers on draft. I liked the atmosphere inside with good tunes and a nice patio out back. The service was quick and friendly. I will be coming back the next time I am in town.
Review Source:Food: Limited menu, but it was good.
-Veggie sliders - portobello mushrooms, cheese, and chipotle aioli make these sliders very tasty
-market salad - nothing special, pretty much exactly what you expect
-the menu is semi-short, but creative, I like the "7 deadly sins" theme for their sandwiches.
Ambience: SO crowded, and definitely a place where people go to "be seen." That being said its pretty lively and I like the outdoor area in the back. The staff was very friendly as well.
Wow! I cannot believe I JUST NOW found this place. The food was incredible. I got a salad and it was all fresh farmers market greens. My friend got the mac and cheese with bacon and it was some of the best I have EVER had. Â The happy hour prices are very very fair. Perfect place for 20-30 somethings. I will definitely be back. For my sake, I just hope the rest of SB doesn't discover this little gem, but for their sake they deserve to be recognized. Good Job 7! Way to add to the SB food and bar scene. Don't ever change.
Review Source:I love the idea. This place has great potential. I keep coming back for the House Mule and the pulled pork sliders. The only thing I was a little miffed over was the speed of service. I know that things are just getting started and that kinks have to get ironed out. I love the atmosphere and the art work. The service needs a little sprucing up. Other than that, this place is funky and wonderful. Its a great addition to the FUNK ZONE.
Review Source:Room for improvement. Â I went to Seven yesterday evening for some drinks and nibbles and I liked the vibe but I was horribly disappointed in the service. Â I sat down, joining 2 friends, and our hostess walked by and said she was going to get me a menu and she was gone for 15 minutes (I actually clocked it). Â I went to the bar and asked if we could order from the bar but we were told our hostess "would be around shortly". Â After another 5 more minutes a guy walked up and got our order. Â We didn't see our hostess until we ordered our second round of drinks from the male server. Â She walked up and asked us if we wanted another round after we just ordered it and then proceeded to take my wine glass, that still had wine in it, and walk away. Â What? Â The prices are really high for what you get. Â We ordered fries and they were OK, well seasoned but soggy and not crispy. Â It could be an interesting place but they really need to work on their service.
Review Source:I may be a bit biased being a fan of the Mutineers, but damn, this place definitely has it going on.
I was there for the SB eMarketers event on Thursday. The staff was amazing - totally helpful, and always there when you need them. As soon as I walked in a waitress walked up and took my drink order, delivered it in a few minutes - perfect. Then out on the patio, Sophie gave some great drink and food recommendations, so instead of just drinking beer, I had one of their custom cocktails (very good) and the beef skewers (very good - interesting twist with strawberries).
I need to return soon and get the fried chicken and waffles - 3 people commented that night that it was the best they have ever had (and one person grew up in Georgia, so she knows her fried chicken.)
This may be my favorite new place.
Me and the wifey had a little 340 month anniversary and thought that we would try something new so we went to Seven. Â Awesome little spot that is more of a bar with food than a restaurant with a bar (embrace that Seven--it is what you are!) Â Â It is a cozy place with natural brick walls, stonework, effective lighting and a very user-friendly bar (thanks Pub for the overall design) Â They have added some nice tables and comfortable seating as well as a great outdoor patio!
Sin is the name of the game or at least the name of the restaurant because seven is based on the seven deadly sins (I meant to look to see if they have 7 deadly Zins on the wine list). Â The first sin I experienced was GREED since I saw on the happy hour menu $5 Hornitas margaritas as well as $5 Alagash white pints... I wanted both! Â The margarita was very tasty and of course Alagash is a great beer. Â Â My wife ordered the cucumber infused vodka lemonaide, Â it looked pretty good and I was quite ENVIOUS. Â Â
Seven doesn't just have drinks it has a menu too. Â No happy hour deals on the food but the prices aren't out of line. Â Most items are $12. Â Â My wife had a sandwich and I had the Chicken and Waffles, interesting combo which came with maple syrup, fries and a very tasty slaw! Â Â While the sandwich was fresh and the chicken and waffles were piping hot, the fries were cold and soggy. Â The wonderful waitress quickly extiguished my WRATH by bring us a fresh plate of fries. Â I loved my dinner. Â Â It was a very full plate and to my surprise, chicken is better with maple syrup. Â I was reluctant to share with my wife and had to curb my GLUTTONY so that she could try a bite. Â All in all chicken, waffles maple syrup, fries, ketchup and beer make for a pretty wierd combination and I don't think beer will replace orange juice for breakfast any time soon. Â
It was a very nice evening and I was PROUD of the fact that I came up with a new and fresh idea for our monthly anniversary. Â While the food was delicious it sat a little heavy and I was a total SLOTH the rest of the evening. Â Â
Oh, and that seventh sin (?) Â I am keeping that one to myself.
I was there on Sunday at 3:30 pm to hear live music. It was awesome! The acoustics for live music in the front room is quite good. It felt extremely intimate and special to hear such great music in such a casual setting. Will return to be there for more live music!!
As for the bar, it's true, they have NO drink menus and the bartenders aren't doing anything to market their best. I struggled to come up with a drink order and the bartender served me something that was less than great. I saw plenty of other cocktails that were getting obvious raves but there was NO WAY to know what they were!!!! The food menu was adequate and had a list of sandwiches. I ordered the Gluttony which was tri tip with caramelized onion and blue cheese on a french bread roll panini. It wasn't quite right. Needed something spicy and tart to perk it up. Salsa, lettuce, and jalapeño would have made it better. Side of french fries and coleslaw was very good, though. Generous portions. One sandwich fed three people.
I heard about Seven a while back, and living just a few blocks from their location, I was excited to check it out. The Jack and Coke I ordered was $8, a bit on the pricy side but not surprising. It was a decent pour, so I can live with the price. I had heard that the place was advertised as having craft cocktails, but you wouldn't have any idea that was the case, drink menus were scarce. I saw one or two around the room but I certainly wasn't offered one. Sure I could of asked for one, but I just settled into my trusty routine of Jack and Cokes and figured I would look into their specialty drinks next time. But if you are trying to build a reputation as a place for craft cocktails, customers shouldn't have to go searching for them, once they have arrived.
The menu is limited, and centered around their seven different sandwiches, each named for one of the seven deadly sins. The sandwiches all sounded pretty good, nothing too revolutionary going on with the recipes and a little more variety would be good. If executed properly, I'm sure some of them are quite tasty.
We weren't super hungry so we decided to share an order of mac n cheese, and some chicken skewers. The mac n cheese was good, but I've certainly had better plenty of times. They have changed the mac n cheese on the menu since the previous review was made. It's now $8 rather than $11, and it's pretty basic. No caramelized onions, or pieces of french fry any more. The chicken skewers were tasty with some good vegies and a chipotle aioli that was quite good. The most disappointing part about the food, was the 50 minutes that it took to arrive. The place was not even half full, and not many people were ordering food. I had a view of the food window, and I saw no more than eight plates come out of the kitchen in the 50 minutes we waited for our food. They discounted our food 25% at least.
The owner seems like a nice guy and was constantly roaming around checking on things, although we never heard from him during our extended wait for food. I did see him walk by and overhear someone mention to their friend that the salad didn't have very much kale in it, so he then went and brought her some more. It's nice to see that type of attention to detail.
All in all it seems like it could be a good place to hang out. They played good music and the ambiance is casual and fun. I think they are headed in the right direction, they just need a little work on the execution. It's natural that there are going to be mistakes made in the beginning, so I don't plan on holding the long wait for our food against them. I'll be back to give them another chance, but I'm in no rush.
Freakin' Awesome to say the least. We went there on their opening night(serving food) and it was packed and had a great vibe to it. They were setting up some equipment for what looked like live music but I'm not sure as we left before they started. This is more of a place that you would expect to walk into in while in SF rather than in SB which is a perfect match for the Funk Zone. Their kitchen is small but their bar is huge & definitely make sure to check out the patio.
Their opening night menu was concise and every item we tried was a winner. Their name comes from their selection of sandwiches all named for one of the seven deadly sins. In addition to these sandwiches they also serve: Chicken' n Waffles, Salads, Skewers, and Mac n Cheese. All of their ingredients are fresh and according to their staff they do not keep any food in a freezer. They are planning a roof top garden to keep things über fresh and they even make their own ketchup.
I had The Tri-Tip sandwich with caramelized onion and grilled bell peppers which was excellent full of flavor and the meat was delicious. The was a sauce on the sandwich that seemed to be just slightly over powering and my only qualm. The sandwiches were all platted with a small portion french fries and  what seemed to be a red slaw that was excellent sweet and had a hint of pineapple.
My wife had a vegetarian sandwich with grilled cheese and veggies which she said was delicious but unfortunately I did not get a chance to try it before she devoured it. My other friends ordered Filet Mignon Sliders and the Cuban sandwich I didn't try either of them they both looked really good especially the sliders!
We also ordered the "7" Mac n' Cheese which was a as good as mac n cheese can get. It had bits of caramelized onions and french fries and and really my only issue was the price though, at $11.00 I felt like the portion was a bit on the small side and we will probably be skipping this one on our next visit. If you love mac n' cheese you will love this if you don't then, eh, just skip it.
The wait staff was all very good, kind, and friendly. Our only complaint was that it took FOREVER to get our food and by the time we did get it our sever had gotten overwhelmed with all the traffic. Given it was opening night this is very understandable and they just need to iron out a few kinks but once they do this place is going to be great. I look forward to going back again soon to try the chicken n' waffles or just grab a drink at the bar.
I went there when they first opened up and had a really great time. The staff is fun, personable and good at what they do.
My favorite thing was their infused vodka drinks. They taste so good and refreshing that they can be just a little bit dangerous... in a good way.
Haven't tried any of their food yet but they have great drinks all the way around.
