Very, very poor customer service. Â
I was in kzoo with a friend on vacation from DC so we decided to check this bar out. Â Unfortunately I was immediately harassed by a bouncer at the door because I had an out of state ID. Â Then at 1:50 am they announced last call. Â So we purchased one last beer and about 1 min after the bartender handed us our Oberons, two bouncers came up to us and told us we had to "finish our beers" now or they would take them away. Â Even though we just bought them. Â I asked the bouncers if they could give us a couple of minutes...they rudely responded "no" and moved in closer to us and began to reach over toward the beers in our hands. Â At this point it's about 1:53 am, not 2 am! Â So we were literally forced to slam our beers instead of enjoying a great Michigan beer on a Friday night.
This type of harassment was completely unprofessional and intimidating. Â I will never come back to this bar! Â They need to teach their bouncers how to respect their customers before they can earn my future business.
NEW: Apparently the new wood floors are a major upgrade from the stinky carpet that previously blanketed the floors.
This large bar downtown is on my list to return to (should I find myself in Kalamazoo again). Good beer selection, and surprisingly great food. I had a tasty french dip with waffle fries, and my wife's burger on a pretzel bun will have her booking a return trip in no time. There was plenty of seating, and our server was on the ball.
The food is good for a bar, and the beer selection is excellent. Â Owners are passionate about the business and will tell you all about it if you have the pleasure of meeting them. Â I know it gets a bad rap as a noisy messy place sometimes, but we all know those places are where you have the most fun!
