In a seedy area of Wtby. but ample parking although tight.  The renovation that they did is very impressive, Irish  pub motif but with a modern flair.  A large dining with a long bar area.  The food that we ordered was very good, the boneless chicken wings were a bit dry and in cubes which was odd.  The buffalo flavoring was good, but the jerk sauce tasted nothing like jerk, more like ketchup ....which was odd!  Great cobb salad, tasty and filling, the steak wrap that my friend ordered was enjoyed as well, savory, although on the  small side, also a large beer selection is available on tap.  Would recommend for a quick bite.
Review Source:previously the crossroad cantina. Â the change in establishment is definitely an upgrade. Â but recent visits here on band nights have turned out to be disappointments with no live music. Â they have a great beer on tap selection and equally as good bar menu. Â great space for large group gatherings. Â the shephard's pie is a hit or miss. Â the sandwiches/wraps all looked amazing. Â one brave soul had the fish and chips which were not over cooked.
Review Source:Our first visit here last night. Â We were excited to try this place out since it is local for us, and a good friend of mine has raved about it. Â Our experience was "mixed", here's the good & the bad of last night...
First, I've been in this building a few times before, when it was Crossroads Cantina, then Rosie's. Â I have to admit, the decor has been vastly improved. Â Our only "beef" with the environment was the climate -- place felt cold, I recommend you bring a sweater or layer yourself to keep warm (it is a large, open place with an extremely high ceiling, so I imagine the heating bill would be considerable if they turned the heat up too much).
On to the food -- I've heard a lot about Shamrock's wings, so we ordered 6 of the sweet bbq for our appetizer. Â Not the best wings I've ever had, but they were decent tasting and good. Â They had a crispy taste to them. Â My gf had also had the French Onion soup, she thought it was excellent.
I had the Ruben (corn beef) sandwich, my gf order the Pub Steak sandwich (w/o peppers) -- I felt mine was excellent, she thought hers was OK. Â My gf wanted some dessert to go, so she ordered a piece of cake (I forget what kind). Â Honestly it didn't matter what kind of cake it was, for 7 bucks, the thing was a bad joke -- if it was one inch thick, I'd be surprised. Â
Also, our waitress was "all business", not very friendly.
So like I said above, our experience at The Shamrock in Waterbury was "mixed". Â But we do intent to go back, I feel this place has the potential to be one of my favorites. Â Maybe we just caught them on an off night.
