Nice place. Â My only gripe so far is they have live music too early in the afternoon. Â We came in on a few occasions for a cocktail and couldn't even have a conversation with who I was with. Â And, the music wasn't all that great; they had some type of audience interaction format, so basically karaoke. Â I love live music, but not at 3 or 4 in the afternoon. Â Most people at this time just get off work and want to relax with a beer and some good background music, not a pounding band. Â I do most my drinking during the afternoon so I'll have to go somewhere else.
Review Source:After having many friends rave about this place, I decided to give it a shot. Â It was a weekday, early evening, and we were able to walk right in and be seated. Â Our waiter was great. Â He was funny, attentive and even joked around with my kids. Â I ordered the shepherds pie, and while I was told it was the best thing on their menu, it was nothing to write home about, but it wasn't terrible either. Â I was a little (ok, a lot) put off by the very pregnant waitress that was working that night and felt the need to talk to her coworkers about the fact that her vagina would never be the same after she gave birth, within earshot of diners and young children. Â Overall, the Shamrock had great service but I was not impressed with the food I had that night. Â May come again, may not.
Review Source:I came with my family for lunch today. The place has good food with generous portions. Try the fritters' basket appetizers. The deep fried bacon is crispy and delicious. Shepherd's Pie and Corned Beef with cabbage are highly recommended. Surprisingly, the didn't have Magners Cider on tap. I'll be back again for dinner time.
Review Source:Went back with a friend and I had the corned beef quesadilla. Not a fan of the taste. All of the ingredients just didn't jive well together. The fries were standard pub fries but my bud liked the onion rings. Unfortunately one of the cooks kept poking his head out of the kitchen "hole" and kept trying to sing classic rock loudly. Whoever this guy is he needs to stay professional and pipe down. The appetizer/happy hour deal was cool but between the average food and the squirrely looking dude attempting to rock out I doubt I'll be back. Though I am not a huge loss to the establishment considering I really don't drink. I am dying to try the shepherds pie and fish and chips so maybe one more chance. :)
Review Source:Since we just moved to Temecula, it was a priority to find the local watering holes that are closest to our house. Isn't that everyone's priority?
Shamrock is literally less than a mile from our new house, so it scored points before we even walked in the door. However, the stars it earned ahead of time were definitely kept!
We were there a few hours and had a few cocktails/beers. We also tried some of the food- the Irish Egg Rolls and Pulled Pork Sliders. Both were awesome. The bartender, Justin, was really friendly and attentive.
The place is small, but a nice layout. They have live music on most evenings. We will definitely be back!
We ate there last night......probably never again. My husband had decent fish and chips, and I had one of the worst meals ever served in a restaurant! His fish was good, albeit greasier than other places, but my portobello burger was a tragedy. Gigantic, dry white bun with served with a tiny deep fried portobello that was heavily coated with something, and cheese melted on top. Just a big plate of grease. The waitress never said anything when she came to remove my plate, yet most of the food was still on it. She didn't even ask if it was okay. Moral of the story: Never try the portobello burger unless you are a glutton for punishment.
Review Source:Late night happy hour starts at 9! $1 off beers and $2 off appetizers!
My boyfriend and I were staying in Temecula, and by the time we got ready for dinner, most of the places near wine country were closing. Â We found this place on Yelp and it seemed to be popping late night! Â We got there around 8:45 pm and the waiter was nice enough to let us know that if we just waited until 9 pm, we could take advantage of the happy hour deal.
We ended up getting the Guiness Beef Stew and the Fish and Chips. Â The beef stew was good - tender chunks of beef, carrots, peal onions.. but it was a little too salty for me. Â The fish and chips were delicious though! Â It came with two huge pieces of fish, and we couldn't even finish it! Â I don't know the Temecula area well, but this seemed like a great late night place to grab beers/food.
Thank you Shamrock owners for providing a very fun atmosphere to spend the evening!!
Tried the food and liked everything so far with the exception of the coated fries. I love fries with the skins especially but the additional coated texture is just too much.
Very happy with the upbeat personalities of the staff and of course the live music offered here is fantastic. So happy they are true to the Irish theme and offer authentic music.
I will recommend this new restaurant to everyone and thank you so much Shamrock for making everyone feel welcome here not just your friends like many other family owned businesses. You guys Rock!!
Worst place in Murrieta! The owners are cold, and looks like the place is understaffed. You can tell the staff is working hard and long hours. You have to wait about a 1/2 hour or more each time on certain days, and the place is very small! There is not room for a large party. I had a party there and asked the owner twice for an extra table in the over flow room for my guests and he totally ignored me. The attitudes from the owners are not very welcoming. I have also known how the owners treat their employees, taking advantage of their situations to work for free in some cases to just keep their jobs for their families. To me it's just another result of an owner as an opportunist playing on the hardship of others! Shame on you!!!
Review Source:Graham and Paul know what they're doing. Â It's virtually impossible to pick a time when at least one of the two isn't there greeting customers. Â There is absolutely no substitute for owner involvement and presence. Â The staff knows it, the customers know it.
Also, they serve up the best fish & chips you can buy; thin batter crust with properly cooked firm fish. Â
Be sure and give the Breakfast Shot a try.
Went here because of the 4 stars...Shamrock's has a great atmosphere. Nice, new and clean. My girlfriend had the fish and chips which were pretty good...didnt care much for the cole slaw and the 'chips' were tasty. I had the St Mary's chicken burger. I had to ask for another plate since there was so much dripping from the burger that I didnt want to set it back down in the juices. Also it is piled high with tomatoes and lettuce...so if you dont have a big mouth you end up taking the burger apart just to eat it. The flavor was so-so, really nothing special.
Be sure to double check the bill. Mine was wrong....In fact, it was wrong in my favor! I let the waitress know and she mentioned something about a VAC tax(huh? wth is that, dont make crap up) that was added in....this made zero sense to me since I technically owed them more than what the bill said....She also gave me a dime since she said that Shamrock's overcharged...she really wasnt paying attention...whatever,,,I took the dime and paid the lower, incorrect bill.
Again, it's rare I give 5 stars to ANY restaurant because I believe there's ALWAYS room for improvement. However, there's always an exception to the rule. And even more surprising is the The Shamrock is a little over a year old! Â Their fare is authentic Irish, the ambiance and live bands (check their calendar for scheduled performers) are a little piece of Ireland right here in Murrieta. Step out of your comfort zone and try something on the menu you normally wouldn't eat and surprise yourself! Â Kudos to the chef, wait staff and entertainers. Great place to bring your out-of-town guests. Go early as no reservations are taken and the pub fills up FAST!
Review Source:100% MY NEW FAVRIOTE PLACE! LOVED IT AND I CANNOT WAIT TO GO BACK AGAIN!
Okay, this was our 3rd stop after a "guys night" of sushi, pole position car races and more. Loved the live Irish band, bagpipes and all. Crowd pleasing music, Â fun athmosphere and plenty of tables to sit down and just chill. If you prefer to get up and dance a little Irish jigg the place makes due and moves a few tables to allow audiance participation.
I'm a big fan of the Irish pubs around Southern California and will 100% be back for a night of Guinness, Irish pies and fun times!
Casual and Fun. This Irish Pub is a wonderful addition to the area. The food is especially delicious. I had the Chicken with Mash and Carrots. My husband had the Sliders with Fries. Our friends got the Shepard's Pie, Corn Beef and Cabbage, and gigantic Fish and Chips. There was not a complaint in the group. Note Worthy: The portions are huge and most dishes are easily shareable between 2-3 people. We will definitely be coming back!
Review Source:I've been here twice now--once with my husband on opening night and a second on a Tuesday evening with my kids. Both experiences were good.
The atmosphere is great. Warm and inviting with the fabulous wall murals and traditional Irish music playing in the background. I've read some reviews that complain about the wooden chairs but I didn't think they were bad and I think add to the warm vibe. I guess they might be uncomfortable if you plan to drink for hours on end but for dinner they were fine.
We were greeted warmly and seated quickly (even on opening night when they were packed) on opening night which I did not expect to happen considering how packed they were. This night was what I would have expected--busy and the staff seemed a little overwhelmed so service was slower. However, the staff was attentive, friendly and not at all rude as has been described. There were a few things that could have been done better (nothing worth mentioning specifically) but it was opening night for God's sake and it's unreasonable to expect perfection right off the bat. The hubs and I shared a fish & chips (which was delish), a couple of brews and chatted it up with Paul. It was a good experience for a new restaurant on opening night.
The second time, the hubs and I came back in with my almost 3 year old and 1 year old sons. We were, again greeted warmly, promptly seated and order taken. Graham popped by a few times to play with the boys and say hello. The waitresses were great--friendly and attentive. Our ciders and meals arrived quickly. We had the Irish pizza and the patty melt. The portions were generous! The pizza is big enough for more than 2 people and the patty melt patty was so big I could only eat half of it! The rye bread is super tasty. My only issue with that night was in regards to the kids menu options. There was no milk option for the little guys and the juice we ordered came in an adult sized cup. I realize this is a pub so catering to the littles isn't top priority but it would be nice to have for the families that come in on Sunday.
We will definitely be back! Improvements are being made and let's be honest, they are a NEW place. Cut them some slack already and give them a chance to work out the kinks people! We'll be with them as they progress. In fact, we are hoping to make it over this weekend either for the band tonight or the Sunday Funday family festivities. I say job well done and those who want to complain can take a long walk off a short pier. :-)
I was so excited when this placed open up right next to us! The food is really amazing, my corned beef and cabbage was a large portion and not too salty. The fish and chip, Ruben sandwich and chicken ceaser were all great too. The bangers and mach left a little to be desired, really smokey and kinda bland.
The service was ok when we went, it was REALLY busy though..it was a Thursday night but they had a band come on around 8. The wait staff definitely  seems very over whelmed with the sudden explosion in popularity. Hopefully in the next few months the kinks will be worked out. We will definitely be back!
I've now gone twice, and had bad experiences both times. Â First was on New Year's Eve: while waiting for service at the bar, the bartender's first comment to me rather than "what can I get you" was "don't roll your eyes at me". Â What?? I didn't roll my eyes firstly. Â Secondly, what?? Is that what you say to a customer? Â I didn't pick a fight, I simply ordered my drinks, then didn't get served again for a very long time. Â When a table opened up and we were seated, we closed and paid our bar tab. Â When we asked for our ticket at the table - we were charged again for our bar drinks. Â Unfortunately we didn't keep our receipt from the bar -- and they suddenly forgot who we were and that we paid. Â So we were double charged. Â Nice.
I went a second time last night with coworkers. Â We were served drinks at the bar and closed out before going to a table. Â At the table, the server asked for my ID (I didn't have my wallet) and I said, really? Â I'm 33 and have crows feet? Â And I've had two beers at the bar already. Â I then left it alone and resumed conversation with my coworkers. Â She however didn't leave it alone. Â She felt it necessary to go on about me being mad, and then very unwisely started patting me on the back. Â Really?? Â I am a customer. Â Horribly unprofessional and a good way to get an elbow to the chops. Â Half of our table closed our tab and left. Â The poor guy who left last was told that the tab had indeed NOT been closed and was charged for the whole bill. Â Again. Â This time the Shamrock will be seeing a receipt about the double charge.
It's understandable that one busy night and one rude bartender isn't who a place is -- two times is bad management. Â Hit and miss on the food, some is real good some isn't. Â Giant miss on service. Â And to qualify myself -- I worked as a waitress and bartender for 10 years. Â I would have been fired for either of the comments made by the staff at Shamrock.
First time trying this place and the food was great. We had the shepards pie and the fish and chips. The shepards pie was excellent and the fish and chips were great. Large portions and decent price.
I would have given it a 5 but the service needs some help. It took a while to get a beer and the waiter did not come back to fill our water glasses until after we finished eating. I was going to order another beer with dinner but the waiter never came back to check on us. I was kind of surprised that none of the other waiters or waitresses offered to fill our glasses or see if we wanted anything else to drink?
The food was great so we will go back. If the service stays the way it was on our first trip I dont think we will frequent this place. I hope they are just working out the bugs from just opening.
We waited for this place to open for months...then waited for all the opening week hoopla and hopefully for them to work any bugs out before we patronized the place. Â BIG MISTAKE.....I'm going to give them a few more months. Â Seriously. Â Here's the good and the bad from two locals. Â
THE GOOD: Â Nice atmosphere. Murals and music were great. Â Tables and seating "Look great" but are hell-on-the-butt! Â VERY UNCOMFY. Lighting was a little too bright for a "pub" kinda feel....but not bad. Â Nice selection of alcohol and beers. Â They offer HP sauce and Sarson's Malt Vinegar. Two AUTHENTIC IRISH items. Nice!! Comparable to other Irish Pubs. Whiskey Beer Burger was AWESOME. A MUST. Fried Bacon, Jalepenos, and a hand made burger. Â Fries were perfect. Fresh Thyme added to the fresh peas on another dish we ordered.....very nice!! Can't think of any more "good" from this experience. Â So now for the "bad"
THE BAD:  Inexperienced staff. Had to repeat our order the first 15 minutes after we thought she had already put it in!  No offering of ice water, and frankly the beverage station is a small table with a coffee pot and a water container you would see at a  women's potluck. Slightly strange that it sits right out in the open next to the stage. Ordering times took a long time.....fortunately we weren't in any hurry...but still, 45 minutes for two entree's on a weds evening is kinda extreme. (especially when you're sitting on wooden uncomfortable chairs!)  Not mentioning our server's name...because I don't think it was entirely her fault...but that of her trainers.  The Bangers and Mash----wow----well, mashed were real and pretty good. Bangers are bland and small and did NOT seem housemade. The gravy is NOT a brown gravy as described on the menu. It's more like a bland chicken canned gravy. Very disappointing. Portion was not as others have described here.  Everything was under-seasoned, but I allowed for that as they are an Irish Pub.  Drinks are an average type of pour....nothing generous. But not too bad. Â
IN SUM: Â I'll try the place again in another 2-3 months....but it's NOT a place I would recommend now. Â LOTS of BUGS to work out.
Usually new restaurants are horrible in the first few weeks, but not the Shamrock. Â While they have been extremely busy, the service has still been excellent.
The food is also delicious. Â We have now had: Corned beef and Cabbage, Bangers and Mash, Shepherds Pie, Mother Mary's chicken sandwich, Build a spud, the Reuben, and several appetizers including the Waterford wings, Irish nachos and Irish Eggrolls. Â Everything we have tasted has exceeded our expectations and we can't wait to try more.
The owners of the Pub have done an excellent job of making you fell like you stepped out of Murrieta and into Dublin!
Make sure you visit on Friday or Saturday when they have a band playing! Â The bands are excellent, we especially loved The Lads.
Went here for happy hour with the wife after seeing Django Unchained, and let me tell you, this is no Irish Pub Unchained. Â
Ordered a couple of drinks and took in the new bar we were excited to go check out. Both of us are Irish and love a good Irish Pub. Â First complaint is the chairs, unbelievably uncomfortable. Â Not a big deal until later.
Happy hour prices were ok and they have Angry Orchard Cider on tap with is a plus. Â I prefer a sour cider, but this is still good to get your cider fix.
After 10 minutes or so we decided to order the Build Your Own Spud. Â Quite the mistake. Â Aside from the 2 more drinks each we got down before they came out (at least 30 minutes, but I think closer to 45), the wifes came out wrong. Â Bacon instead of Beef Stew. Â Does the word Bacon even sound like Beef Stew except that they both start with B?? Â Anyways, I got the corned beef, decent flavor, but some pieces had that arbitrary tendon that you couldn't chew so I had to spit a few out. Â About 10 minutes later the wifes potato came out. Â BUT, another B word, they just threw the beef stew on top of the fatty bacon that my wife didn't want. Â 1) why did that take 10 more minutes?! and 2)are these cooks that lazy to make right a mistake, one that took forever in the first place?!
Now, by the time she got the potato and scraped aside the fatty bacon, my ass was tiresome (see above).
A discount or comp wasn't even a thought to them, just a "sorry for the wait, the spuds take a long time"....WTF?! Â Ok you just got 7%, and that's more of a tip than you deserved.
My wife did like the stew which was a plus, and the main reason why they didn't get 1 star.
Word to the owners of this place. Â Your employees ALL AROUND need to pay more attention to the details of being in the restaurant business. Â You are new and to stay in business in this town your food and employees need to do something special. Â This was below PAR to say the least. Â Another word to the owners, I overheard that one of the girls was hired from Corner Pocket when it closed. Â Now unless you want your place to end up like the Corner Pocket you are advised to be careful of who you hire.
We will not be back.
Have been waiting fir this place to open.... And yesterday I visited for the first time. The atmosphere is the best.. Like walking into a pub in Ireland ... Comfortable, warm, welcoming, and great music. The fish and chips are the Best.... You must try it!
The staff are amazing.. We had Donna as our server and she was such a delight... Thank you to the owners Graham and Paul.. So happy to have you in  Murrieta... Going back again tonight!
Probably a 4.5 stars, but since you cannot give halves, a five it is. This is just what the neighborhood needs, an Irish pub with a fun atmosphere and decent pub food.
I went with friends for the first time a couple of days ago and had lunch. I thought I'd wait to sober up before writing the review though. I have enough trouble typing and spelling when my mind is clear, so here gos.
We found that the inside had been completely re-done from the previous restaurant. The booths are gone. All seating is done is comfortable wooden tables and chairs that seat four, but could easily be pushed together if you have a larger party. There is a typical pub atmosphere with Irish do-dads on the walls and The Dubliners playing folk songs in the background--a nice, unobtrusive fit. We were greeted by the owner and quickly seated, given menus and ordered our brews. In spite of what one of the other reviewers said, I think the beer menu is fine. It may not have your favorite but there certainly ought to be something on there to please most people.
We ordered Sliders, and two different pizzas. I had the "Irish" pizza and found it "different" but tasty enough that I ate the whole thing. It DID take quite a while for us to receive our food. There was a good lunch crowd, but not to where we expected to wait for our food as long as we did. Our server apologized and said they were having issues in the kitchen. Considering that they just opened, and are still hiring people and training staff, this is understandable. If the wait is that long 3 or 4 months from now, I'd be less forgiving. Our server got the boss to comp us a second round of drinks for free. (We did not ask . . . it was his idea)
Actually, the wait was the only thing that would keep me from giving the a legitimate 5 stars. I really love this place and hope that they are able to make a go of it. The neighborhood really needs a good pub. I am keeping my fingers crossed that they thrive. I'll definitely be back.
I went there for the first time on a Friday, opening night. The place was very busy, but the staff was extremely attentive. Every employee we came across introduced themselves and even remembered our names.
We ordered the Ahi and the fish and chips and both dishes were absolutely amazing, and the portions were very generous. If you're not sure what to order, the fish and chips are a sure thing! Even if you're full, you'll still want to eat it all!
I've been back three times now, and have had the same great experience every time. Terrific service, pleasant atmosphere and amazing food. The music playing in the background is really nice, but if you want a real treat, you've got to come in for the bands!
I have to say that this pub has such a positive energy to it that it's hard to stay away. Even the customers seem to have more of an upbeat attitude and are super friendly. Whether you want to unwind with a beer after work, catch up with some friends, or take your family out to dinner, The Shamrock really is the place to go.
Wow! Finally...a great Irish pub in the valley. Great decor, furnishings and original murals on the walls. Food was delicious...and reasonable! We shared three dishes: fish and chips; original English/Irish-style, corned beef and cabbage and bangers and mash. All three were excellent, well-prepared and included hearty portions. Great value! Very reasonable beers and wines.
One of the owners, Paul, came by to introduce himself and again came by as we were leaving. It's that type of attention to detail, along with great food and atmosphere that will make this spot successful.
We were there on a Sunday evening just after live music ended, but the recorded music was delightful, We'll be back again and again; especially to hear the live music.
To Paul and Graham: Well done, Lads! I think you've got a hit on your hands.
